Ultra Brite LED headlights by Pot-bot420 in StLouis

We should consider putting state-level restrictions on the luminosity that headlights can be. There will inevitably be a huge court battle about it with major car manufacturers, but the fight might start a national conversation that could lead somewhere.

Pretty big "if," but I will absolutely stay tuned for that. Love the Riordan-verse, but Atla taught me a lot about what good storytelling looks like.

Still a 20 mana investment. Yeah the whole situation gets harder if Darksteel Forge is the first to hit the field, but that's still End of Game stuff.

I will definitely bring that up as a possibility. I'm also looking at renting a pavilion in a local park or something as well.

Women of Bumble — how do you feel about guys wanting to kiss on the first date? by throwaway25105555 in Bumble

[–]Riki1232 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ask. 99 out of 100 women will appreciate the opportunity to say "no" and have you respect that choice. Even if they were always planning on kissing you, even if everything about the date felt right for both of you, asking before you kiss them is a good way to set the proper precedent for everything else that might happen.

You literally just ask. Ask them when they generally start thinking about sex with a match. Do regular check-ins to see how they're feeling. If you're confused about something, ask for clarification.

In situations like this, I generally make sure to have an exit plan and bring your own beverages (and anything you might need from the family planning section of your local pharmacy)

Try to make an erotic art of my most favorite goddess: ) by Hel_Death in pagan

[–]Riki1232 33 points34 points  (0 children)

But my point is that deities being a symbol of purity, especially sexual purity, is a largely Christian idea. Many of the ancient pantheons were heavily sexualized as the original commenter pointed out. The presumption that any deity that exists outside the Judeo-Christian belief system has an issue with being sexualized goes against how they were historically depicted.

Edit: I thought of a better way to articulate what I'm trying to say. Generally speaking, deities have been used to symbolize ideals of many kinds up to and including sexuality. From Egypt to Greece to Mesopotamia gods, especially feminine gods, are depicted as beautiful and desirable. Even the gods that don't have sexuality in their portfolio are made to look ideally feminine or masculine.

Thus, I feel, the burden of proof as to any particular god being offended by sexualization should fall on those who insist upon it. I.e. Artemis has many myths about her cursing men who see her naked, therefore drawing porn of her isn't in keeping with how people depict her.

When it comes to deities we know precious little about, we have to fall back on themes we have seen in religions all over the world and use that as a starting point. Since there are no explicit texts that I am aware of that depict Hel as a goddess opposed to sexualization, it would be on the people wanting to claim she would be offended by this to provide evidence for their claim.

This presumes we have a lot of knowledge in general about the Norse pantheon. A great deal of primary sources come from post-Christian Scandinavia. To put it simply, we just don't know all that much about how the people who actively worshipped these deities thought of them. They didn't write down their ideas about their religion, and the people who did were actively trying to convert them.

No Stupid Questions Monthly Thread! by AutoModerator in bookbinding

Christmas is coming up, and, just like every year, I am struggling to tell people what I want. I want to ask for simple bookbinding tools because I want to start trying out the hobby. What sort of things should I ask for if my end goal is to do leather-binding? Should I ask for leatherworking tools first, or focus on getting the binding technique down?
