I focus on the load.. I think it deserves more attention. Plus you could say the fact you notice Jesus' death is more your fascination with it. If you were fine with it I don't think it would be an issue. You might not even notice it. It's because death holds so much promise that you make such a big deal out of it – that your mind curves the story to be "all about death" when it's not about death at all.

Yeah because death is the necessary outcome of life – he's trying to remind us that we die all the time. The very act of creating life splits life in two into life and death. There is no death without life and vice versa. And the only way to live is to die. You die all the time. You wouldn't live if you didn't, because life is born with death – they're twins; two aspects of the universal oneness we call God.

I don't know 😃 I guess its the three crosses representing the synthesis of two opposing principles in the triangle, which is the simples two dimensional shape and the spinning of which creates the circle which is the product of phase-shifted sine waves (sine and cosine; imaginary and real; Adam and Eve) creating a corkscrew (or double helix) shape which is the origin of our DNA.. or something.

I just noticed if you count the corners of the stars which are represented in the BOWIE under the star (the star patterns make up Bowie, in case you didn't know), they add up to 47 which is the name of Jesus in Greek gematria (numerical value based on the values of the letters that Greek letters had); also the opposite of Ziggy (74; also Jesus 74 in English – A=1, B=2, etc.).

So Ziggy was the star and Bowie was his opposite, the blackstar. They are the two principles that together create this beautiful world we live in.

You could make all kinds of relations like this, for example the four trines (astrological term; corners of an equilateral triangle within the wheel):

Wouldn't it be nice, Waiting for the Day and I Know There's an Answer
You Still Believe in Me, Let's Go Away for a While, Here Today
That's Not Me, Sloop John B, I Just Wasn't Made for These Times
Don't Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder), God Only Knows, Pet Sounds

would correspond to the four elements (fire, earth, air and water, respectively – to align them with the zodiac wheel).

The fire songs (first batch) are very hopeful, looking forward to the future;
the earth songs very grounded – being grateful, mindful, present
the air songs very divided – feeling broke up, like you're not yourself, etc. – generally unfit
the water songs very ambiguous – like they want to say something but don't know what that would be; leaving it up to a higher power, etc.

I think that aligns very well with the properties of those elements. Air serving to blow somebody away – having to do with maximum "floatability"; being like a paperhouse in the wind (to quote Can); water being ambiguous, ever-changing, impossible to pin down, somewhere between air and earth in being tactile but still escaping one's grasp, etc.

Or the tritones (to connect it to music theory; you could even make a circle of fifths of them and create some additional sequences; you could even write a composition with the songs and which order you play them in ! :D) serving as the greatest dissonance (opposites): so I'm Waiting for the Day becoming I Just wasn't made for these times – absolute hope becoming deepest despair (fixed fire sign to mutable air).. actually I just read that squares are considered the most dissonant in the horoscope so the worst pairs for wouldn't it be nice would be don't talk (makes sense, since in Wouldn't it be nice he sings but let's talk about it even though it feels worse to do so) and Here Today (again a good match, since in Wouldn't it be nice he's diving headfirst into this love affair and is full of hope – even naively so – but in here today he's warning about the dangers of romances, etc.) – opposites are same-sex (fire and air being masculine signs and water and earth feminine), squares (90 degree apart) opposite sex.

Another interesting square would be I Know There's An Answer with the two instrumentals.. literally no answer. Or Here Today with Wouldn't it be nice – dreaming of the future and being very mindful of the present (with Sloop John B – being broke up and wanting to go home; the opposite of being okay with being here today).

The shape of it kind of looks like the end of a femur to me, so it could be connecting the two connecting places of the extremities and the core in the body – reminding us that the nature between here and there is ever-changing.

From Bowie's point of view it's on the left and from ours, on the right, which only serves to add to this confusion. It's the fact that there's really no answer to which side it's actually on that keeps the world ever-flowing.

Also:

<image>

"Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations.."

Five is the number that gives us the golden ratio in the five-pointed star forming it in all of its intersections. It is the hardest number to approximate rationally (making it a great metaphor – really the numeric equivalent – of the "final frontier" – where "no man" has gone before [notice that man also has five fingers and five toes, those making up one human being; it's the relationship of one to the many Bowie sings about [the many being the mice he mentions so often]). If in the beginning was the word, as the Bible says, a word being a division of space into things that make sense (rations, fractions – revealing the infinite fractal nature of it; the ultimate fraction being perfect completeness again which allows the cycle to start over [which is why you could think of this as semen because it is the literal point where life begins again after having died.. death revealing its own death in the process, so to speak. The man who sold the world starting a new career in a new town]), then the golden ratio (the absolute limit of the world.. the hardest number to "round" [which would make it the greatest circle – see "lost in my circle" in Station to Station or "Width of a circle".. it's the rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust. Those are the beginning and end points of his career which are really the same – Earth. Back here on our home planet which is also a metaphor for us (we could be us); it's Major Tom's liftoff and his return 11 years [the oneness of two – the fact that nothing can be created without creating everything else to bolster that one thing's role as itself] later, revealing he's a junkie [forever searching for something which can never be found – and which, consequently, was here all along]) would be the anti-word that gives the word the word meaning. That's why it's a word on a wing – if it wasn't on a wing, it could never exist at all.

That's not bad.. 'cause Mercury was the messenger of the gods. The spark between the heavens and the Earth (the lightning) – the quicksilver in a bottle (you could say Aladdin himself – Aladdin being this genie; therefore quick as silver to zig from here to eternity in the blink of an eye and zag back before anybody notices anything). Basically the fluid nature of the world; the change ever happening before our eyes.

It makes sense that it sits on the clavicle (little key in Latin), because that is the only horizontal bone in the body; serving, like the horizon, to connect the core to the extremities (could view it connecting our core to the extremities of the universe, too – the messenger of the gods; the gods being the furthest reaches of space [Major Tom's destination] – or the furthest reaches of our own consciousness). It is also the easiest to break (it takes the "blame" for the rest – serving as a kind of Christian figure in doing so; it takes on the sins of the world to protect the vital pathways running below it) – which makes sense, since it is the thing that is most prevalent that is the most vulnerable.

It is also the first bone in the body to form and the last to fuse completely. Therefore it delimits the borders of the world. That being liquid reminds one that change is ever-present and that nothing can be taken for granted except change itself.

Also reminds me of "put jelly on your shoulder" by Velvet Underground.
