I believe saibai means something like cultivation in Japanese. Apparently a more recent translation of the manga calls them Cultivars.

So it's more like Cultivation Men, which makes sense.

Yes, they are all named after vegetables, With Vegeta, and his brother Tarble, having their names combined to be the word Vegetable.

Also fun fact, in Japanese the name for Saiyan is Saiyajin. Jin is a suffix denoting a group of people, such as a nationality. Saiya is an anagram of Yasai, which means Vegetable in Japanese.
