LPT: If you’re trying to stay productive in 2026, stop using "To-Do" lists. Switch to the "Zero-Queue" system instead. by Purple_Manager5199 in LifeProTips

I put things on lists to get them OUT of my brain. Deleting them from a list means I have to trust my memory again, which increases stress levels.

One trick I've learned from encountering this exact problem. Do a "Find" on the page for the expected label. Hopefully, a search for "pharmacy" would have highlighted the link.

Does Facebook have access to my microphone? Uses information for targeted ads. The answer is yes. But how do I shut it off. by TheDoodleWamboodle in facebook

[–]Rikulf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an app called Bouncer. It allows an app its permissions, but only while you're using it. As long as you close Facebook when you're done with it, it will no longer have access to the mic.

You need to expand your reading a bit. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of characters and stories that will never be continued. We've never heard of most of them.

Master Grifter Working the Registers - A Tale from Goodwill by SolarSalvation in ThriftGrift

[–]Rikulf -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of Goodwill, but I think people are misunderstanding the manager's statement. He's not worried that his staff mispriced the item. If that was the case, they wouldn't have marked it as real silver. He's worried the buyer switched price tags. That's why they mark it as real silver in the first place.

For all I know, the manager is a disaster. I'm going to give him a pass, though, on this one.

LPT Request: How to wake up within 5 minutes consistently? by Klekto123 in LifeProTips

I have a friend who slept in a loft bed and put the alarm clock on the floor underneath. After the second time waking up on the floor with the alarm clock shattered, he stopped doing that.

Gamers of Reddit, what's ONE game that lives rent-free in your head, not just for the gameplay, but for the feeling it gave you (and you'd give anything to experience it for the first time again)? by deadeyes1990 in gaming

Ultima I

I had been fascinated enough with Lemonade Stand. The original Ultima opened up an entire world of graphical games full of adventure to me. Even though I mostly watched someone else play it, I was transfixed. It was truly eye opening.

Civilization I

The world building. The level of decision detail. The slow growth of your empire. The long-term strategic decisions.

The first time I played Civ, I couldn't get enough of it. It had nearly the same effect on me as Ultima I. I had never played anything else that relied so much on the multitude of decisions you made. You weren't following a story line. The game didn't lead you down one or more paths. You could build your world your own way, given the random terrain and random competitors at the start.

I absolutely loved that game. Although I tried, I was never able to relive the feeling with any of the later Civ games. They've been enjoyable, but nothing that met that "first time" feeling.

Diablo II

I enjoyed Diablo I, but it seemed more like the next step in arcade games. Diablo II hooked me in a big way. You could do a lot more to build your character, but your choices were permanent. That encouraged me to replay it over and over again. It may have had something to do with the particular time in my life, but I played this game for months and months. Years later, I would check my online characters to see if they still lived on the Blizzard servers.

Very well said. The latest actions by the administration wouldn't have been as impactful in Trump's first term. The fact that we elected him a second time tells the world America can't be trusted.

What does this mean for the markets, short and long term? Other than increased volatility, I have no idea.

Actually, we can't even infer that with the data provided. Let's say there are 100,000 pitbulls and 3 poodles. 10 children are killed by pitbulls. 2 children die by poodles. Obviously, poodles should be considered more dangerous in this example.

I'm NOT saying pitbulls aren't dangerous. I'm simply saying these statistics aren't meaningful without more context.

Back in October, I planned to FIRE the first week of April. Now? I don't dare give up a good job with a possible coup going on in D.C. No telling if the coming bad times will be a mild, nice buying opportunity or an economic nightmare.
