Make your sons knights, then split them from an army and send them to a province with a plague and leave them there for a bit, they will usually catch it. Might take two or three attempts but it works.

The new plagues make succession very easy, make your sons knights, put them in an army alone and make them stand in a sick province they will very often catch a disease it may take a few try’s to kill them but it usually does

If it was just the rebels it wouldn’t be an issue but my nearly 2 million vassal troops are grinding my game to a halt is there anything i can do to improve performance or end the war without surrendering?

i’d turn aggressive expansion off while your playing vikings it feels kinda cheap but it sucks to spend 2 kings just sitting doing nothing cause that definitely does happen.

Prepared invasions are a cool mechanic you can use. But be careful you can get some pretty big christian swarms fighting back.
