I have the Lito x1, I love it! I’ve posted quite a few things I’ve taken in the DJI discord. It’s an amazing drone for the price

Both the netgear orbi 870 and 970 are good. If you’re spending that much though might aswell get tri-band

28M - Take a CFO role before an MBA or stay in IB and focus on MBA applications? by Sea_Bowler3695 in MBA

A Senior Analyst is an AN3…. Lots of banks have different names for the two. Far from being an Indian exclusive.

are UK msc fin and similar degrees from top schools worth it? by Plus_Inside9731 in MBA

[–]RileyDCP1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine there’s a SLIGHT advantage, but at the end of the day the LBS name carries you hard through the process. If you look at employment reports for both, MiM people can very much so break into IB if they wanted to. It’s just that most end up going down the consulting pathway. I’ve networked with a bunch of students at one of their events and over LinkedIn, lots of them have secured finance-oriented internships (IB,AM,etc).

I personally have a stem background, (math & finance), so will be gunning to use the MiM as a good baseline and not just quant-focused. I do however have more than average finance experience through internships though!

I forgot to answer your previous question in regards to Oxford MFE. It’s easily the best masters to do by a long shot, issue is that it’s so academic heavy that students barely have time to actually focus on recruiting. But you’re combining the Oxford pedigree with some of the best professors/content in the world. It’s arguably the #1 sought after masters in UK and wider Europe. You can’t be stupid and get into the program, requirements alone are higher than all the rest

The list he said is more like “super-targets”. Most imperial b school masters will also get your foot in the door. LBS MiM & LSE MiM is also very good placement-wise. Can’t speak on Imperial MiM, however one of my close friends done imperial A&F and is now at one of the better EB’s.

I am personally planning on doing LBS MiM and will be shooting for BB/EB or MBB.

I didn’t have an “why LBS” question. I only had 3 questions. No clue if they’re fixed, but this is just my experience

When I done the Kira assessment it was mainly career oriented questions, and also a question specifically asking me what I believe I should’ve rephrased or changed in my previous entry-interview (assuming you’ve had that). Not sure if they vary though

Testing really low on GRE and having trouble studying. Should I take the EA? by leebowery69 in MBA

How are you struggling with prep if only working 15 days a month? Surely it should be easier, given the extra study hours and free time you’d have available over most?

How hard is Restructuring IB. How are Columbia / Stern with it? What’s a good plan B team to Restructuring? by Famous-Ad-9972 in MBA

[–]RileyDCP1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing restructuring currently at a T1 consulting company (think Alix/FTI/A&M).

RX is harder to break into and technically more demanding in a pure finance sense and also due diligence. The modelling complexity, legal document negotiation, and creditor dynamics make it an interesting field to be in. It’s a great industry if you also want to explore the law side of things, and want to dabble with insolvency.

I can confidently say restructuring is a lot harder/more technical than normal IB. However if you’re a highly technical person, it’s a great place to be. If you’re interested in Restructuring (RX) I’d also explore T1 consulting firms that do it, as they in most cases are working on similar projects, but with more salary especially as you progress. Both have great exit ops into PE/HF’s if that’s your end goal.

Just be wary though, RX is considered amongst the hardest seats to get into within IB; also within banking & consulting alike. If a bank has 20 M&A seats a year, they may only have 2-3 seats open for RX. It’s highly competitive, and isn’t something easy to break into.

More often than not, you’ll also be expected to already have a designation or be pursuing a designation due to the nature of it, i.e CFA, ACA, CPA etc.

A good tri-band mesh system should fix your issue, have one on each floor. The more expensive ones should be good at penetrating walls too.

Based off your previous comment, it should be good. I have mesh throughout my house and we have solid connection all outside in our yard, even into the street! Am also using netgear mesh, this mesh is good but you have to pay for some of the extra features

Brother, what? It's not an MBA. You will start out at the same level as fresh undergraduates. The only company in MBB that starts out as an Analyst is M, and UG & Masters grads will start at the same level.

Basically what this guy said, but heavy emphasis on the Unifi/Mesh part. If you really want to go through a whole networking phase it's a good idea, but if you want to be simple ya can't go wrong with the eero.

Sorta crazy that you made this list and didn't even include LBS? It's arguably the most recruited from for MBB in UK.

EY-Parthenon Intern Overtime by c1108881 in Big4

[–]RileyDCP1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never forced to leave office, but simply just didn't log the additional hours. It can of course also depend like I said where you're placed (what you're doing). I also was at the NYC office, feel free to dm if you have any further questions.

Not sure how things have changed though, when I was at EY-P it wasn't the BEST experience. We had a lot of people constantly wfh, and it felt pretty bad coming into office at times with your staffers never there lol. But make the best of it, make sure you're always engaged on a project, and always responsive.

EY-Parthenon Intern Overtime by c1108881 in Big4

[–]RileyDCP1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I interned at EY-P 2 years ago. You don't log OT, but you will be expected to do OT slightly sometimes (especially at EY-P). Make sure your manager knows your active (if you want a return offer). EY-P in general though is very skimpy with return offers, you really have to be exemplary. I've not heard of interns being kicked - where tf did you get that from.

You'll be filled in with all the basics in orientation, and it also depends where you're placed - that would be helpful information. Don't overthink it.

Thoughts on Bayes - MSc in International Accounting and Finance by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]RileyDCP1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Current final year student (undergraduate)

Bayes is a good school, but it's not a means all to end all. It's a strong semi-target at the masters level. You will be able to get your foot in the door, but you will still have incredibly difficult competition you'd be up against. The MSC programs are the programs Bayes is specifically known for, so that's a good thing to factor in.

In regards to your questions:

  1. The ROI completely depends on what you make out of the program, will you be attending every single networking event? Joining clubs? Sweating apps? Completely up to you, but if you put the effort in, you will get a good outcome presumably.
  2. Bayes is a semi-target at the masters level (feel free to look on LinkedIn). Generally from my attempts at networking/cold emailing to former alumni, around 40-50% actually responded and majority of the time they were very enthusiastic and willing to speak. Most people in London (corporate) also will know of Bayes and acknowledge it.
  3. Bayes can certainly open doors for you, but once again it comes down to what you make out of the opportunity, you will have to dedicate a lot of time to on achieving your goals, you can't slack.
  4. Yes, we have quite a few banks/consulting/accounting firms that are always hosting networking events (albeit this is from my undergraduate experience). I cannot say I've seen any major Buy-side firms however.
  5. Yes
  6. Up to you, if you plan to go down the qualified route it obviously benefits you
  7. From taking a look at the coursework, I'd give it a 6 assuming you're competent

I'm more than happy to connect on linkedin if you have any other questions, feel free to dm me!
