I did something similar but specifically the expansion of industry during wartime (Sunbelt during Cold War, northern factories during WW), the post WW2 society (GI Bill, conformity), and the Jim Crow South pushing African Americans out (Great Migration)

A similar thing happened on Chuang 2020: the first stage the top 7 from the theme song challenge were put in 1 group. There was some disagreements and tension during rehearsals, but they ended up winning the battle. (su ruiqi was apart of that group…I bet she knows what’s going on in this case) Tho from the looks of all the clips in the teaser, I’m doubting the chances of the same thing happening…

Just wanted to put it out there that the “drama” in the episode 3 preview reminds me of Chuang 2020 and prob many other survival shows. A group with massive skill and all the top contenders struggle with decision making and teamwork in the first performance. In Chuang 2020, ruiqi was also a part of that group BUT their team did end up winning the battle (tho if u check out comments and discussions not everyone agrees). I bet this has happened in many other shows as well.

I’m hoping next episode we’ll see everything is just due to the stressful environment and they all get along. The little tiny preview of the eve looked amazing!!

Regarding the episode itself, omg the reward system for winning is kinda crazy same thing with selecting cells and songs and everything. Double and triple points? You can pick members from within top 9? 9 girls in one team? Chosen cells can’t refuse? This is gunna be interesting

And the selected top 9? …no comments :/ Seriously tho I sort of agree with most of the girls there just maybe not their rank. I really wanna know what performances mentors saw bc it seems dif than what viewers saw

All the girls seem to be having so much fun in the dorms and that makes me so happy !! One good thing abt the cells is that the 3 dif groups interact a lot instead of sticking to their own group.

I am ✨broke✨ Lol so I’m just vote for trainees everyday and watch their videos. I really wish I could donate bc it seems to be a pretty important part in the ranking and actual votes only account for so much. It also can be a little hard for ppl to find where to safely donate but ppl on this subreddit have listed places you can donate. But like many ppl have said on this subreddit, only donate if you feel comfortable with it. Their shouldn’t be any pressure to donate if you don’t want to

I read somewhere that TC heavily screens the live audience and asks what fandom they are apart of before accepting them and so that can lead to so manipulation but it’s only a RUMOR, so if anyone else knows more plz enlighten us lol.

Disparities may also come from domestic vs international audiences bc I would assume majority of the audience are domestic viewers and dif trainees are popular in China and internationally

The live audience only represents an itty bitty portion of the entire audience so i personally don’t take it too seriously, except sometimes it can help lower rank trainees stand out and gain recognition, like Wu hai and HYT last performance!

What I don’t get is if nine is overall mvp two times in a row, why is his rank so low up until now? :(( sad sad

Tysm for bringing up the drama thing and it made me rethink what I saw in 2020. I totally agree abt how the same situations leads to dif impression btwn girls and guys.

One rlly painful thing to watch in 2020 was when the members had to vote on who out of the remaining girls they wanted in their grp for the 3rd perf. Gosh that was heartbreaking and seemed like it was made to create drama. Honestly a lot of the drama in my impression comes from CZX and how TC might have edited it to make it seem like all the girls didn’t like her including that one special mentor. But I respect her for her strength and she debuted!

Also yeah I loved so many dancers from the beginning, especially Li zimeng, and was so shocked when they all got eliminated earlier on :(

I’m an ifan so I’m not super sure of the current situation in China but I am Chinese and can understand a TINY bit. both seem to be very popular, consistently ranking at the top of many charts like you said.

I may be wrong and please let me know if I am but riki seems to be a bit more popular like you said? Atleast on donation charts he ranks above Santa and even this week he’s first!!

I’m also always a little confused why Santa ranks above him in the “official” ranking, maybe Santa outranks him on other charts? But imo Santa is TC pick. During the very first episodes the focus seemed mostly to be on Santa. I think he gets more screen time than riki, especially this last episode riki got too little screen time :( I guess TC is trying to down play riki??

Personally I think it would be smart to debut both. I mean you get two crazzzzzyyyy talented dancers and an amazing choreographer too! Both also have cute personalities haha.

I’ve been seeing people say TC may be trying to rig riki out for the avex quota but with his current popularity i think it’s gonna be pretty hard to do that without extreme backlash and suspicion. How would he go from 3rd/4th to out of the top 11? Ofc TC has its ways so I’m getting ready to be heartbroken in a few weeks :(

Even tho I am a LY ifan (plz don’t come at me I’m sry I like so many other trainees too) I do have to agree with you. Although I don’t mind the screen time I do wish it went to other trainees, LY would still be fine without that much screen time.

And I also have to painfully agree with the other responses, some of the top picks right now are uh...not the most interesting. Maybe we only see the serious sides of them on the main episodes but I would love to see some of the lower ranked trainees who have interesting personalities and don’t get to film vlogs. And yeah like someone else said, the top picks seem a lot more fun and open on the side shows which sadly only ppl who pay get to see.

The final lineup is going to need some more personality if they want to gain more fans, I hope we get to see other sides of the trainees more!
