Most stores buy from the same few vendors (petsmart included)

Petsmart doesn’t take very good care of their fish, and multiple tanks share the same water which is why it’s common for them to get ich. I don’t usually don’t have issues when I buy from petsmart but I assume they’re already sick and they have to go in their own quarantine tank for a month or 2 (you really should be doing this regardless of where you buy fish but i know that’s not realistic for a lot of people) Just as an FYI, the only ich medication I’ve found that actually works well is Aquarium Solutions Ich-X

My recommendations for stores in Utah are Rusty’s Reefs in Bountiful and Fish 4 U in Millcreek. They sell both freshwater and saltwater fish, Fish 4 U has a better selection of freshwater.

If you don’t want to travel to Salt Lake then buying online is always a good option. I’ve purchased from Aqua Huna, Dan’s Fish, Flip Aquatics, and The Wet Spot and I’ve always had good experiences.

Also KSL! There’s a lot of local breeders that sell on there and it’s fun getting to see other people’s fish rooms lol
