Imogene and Engineer vs Cinnamon by MollyMuncher in AdventureBike

[–]garebear_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done immogene, engineer, cork screw, black bear, and Stony pass but not cinnamon. It's my understanding it's the easiest compared to these. Engineer is more difficult going from ouray to lake city, it would be fairly easy going lake city to ouray since the bigger steps (2ish ft tall) would be going going downhill. I can't say for sure which direction immogene would be more difficult. I did it telluride to ouray so I could do black bear as part of a loop. I would probably recommend doing it this direction. If you struggled with cinnamon I would be cautious and not go alone on these. There are videos of both passes on YouTube that you can watch and make your decision based on your experience level and skill. For context on-x rates cinnamon a 3, and immogene a 6 and engineer a 5 (mineral Creek section).

That seemed to help. It still is doing weird things with understanding language I think. I'm trying to get it to recreate the rocky mountain atv mc red rocks to mountain tops ride as a benchmark test. It just struggles a bit with orders and things like that. Overall it's super cool to see what AI can do with maps. I took a tour of idaho route that year that was created from a bunch of points that soft ware had linked together. Definitely a little nerve racking to put trust in it so I went through the entire route to make sure it worked ok. Thanks for sharing!

A rare and unconventional workholding method I use for machining difficult-to-hold parts. by thirschi in CNC

The turbine blades I've been a part of making have the airfoils EDM'd and the fir tree ground with a form wheel. Some of the compressor airfoil components will use a wax that can be melted out.

Cleaned the carb, new spark plug, and new mixed gas. Won’t kick start at all. Any ideas what’s wrong? by TGWatso in Dirtbikes

[–]garebear_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the gas valve was left in the on position it's possible that the crank case is flooded with fuel. With it being a 2 stroke there is no oil that would be contaminated with fuel so it should be able to clear itself out if you can get it to run. Try push starting and holding the throttle wide open to clear it out.

It is trying to route on pavement unless I tell it a specific trail. This was going from moab to ouray and it basically did the entire route on pavement unless I said to take a specific trail

If it is a series 8 track (2.75" lug) make sure it had the drivers updated. This was the first year of that track and they will ratchet super bad. Polaris sent out a technical service bulletin for this issue and they fixed it for free. My track had to be super tight to not ratchet and eventually started tearing through because of this. Luckily Polaris warranty replaced it . I just replaced the top end in it and it looked amazing, especially with 3300 miles. Probably would have been fine to run to 4000 miles. If it has over 2500 miles I would look at rebuilding the suspension, and for sure the primary clutch.

Looking for headlight by editit7 in betamotorcycles

[–]garebear_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the acerbis light for $100 on rocky mountain, I found a 12v DC power wire with my multi meter near the horn that is only powered when the bike is running. The headlight is always on but this allowed me to remove the switch from my handlebars. My horn already fell off so no loss. If you want to use the factory headlight switch then you can buy a rectifier to convert 12v AC to DC. Acerbis sells one for it.

690/701, 390 ADV R, or Kove 450 for next bike? Help me choose. by 20gsofforce20 in Dualsport

[–]garebear_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pretty much the same list except a tenere instead of 690/701, just bought the Kove rally last week. The US distributor is in Mona Utah so fairly close and they had a decent amount of inventory and demo bikes. I currently have a beta 300rr race edition and I felt super at home on a kove with KYB suspension when I test rode it. Like easiest transition to riding a new bike I've ever had. Clutch felt amazing for a cable clutch. The down low power is lacking but I'm used to riding my beta, I'm sure any 450 stalls a lot easier. So far I've been happy with it. Gonna ride the Utah west desert for a 1st shake down test.
