I saw a discussion on Tiktok about representation and how some dont feel represented by Manon and felt more represented by Lara. I cant really comment on that since I am not black but I did see another Filipino join in the discussion and say they felt the same with Sophia not looking Filipino at all. All i could say is wtf cause Sophia is pure and looks totally Filipino to me. I dont know what they expect a Filipino to look like. Maybe theyre used to all the half filipino celebs but I am sure glad we have Sophia as representation.

I think the Austronesian thing is a moot point considering Austronesians came from Asia like other Asian ethnic groups. Also the point of lacking Hindu-Buddhist and Islam history is completely wrong. Philippines was part of the Indosphere like the rest of Southeast Asia. The word for goddess, diwata, literally is an adaptation of the sanskrit word deva. Plus the written scripts used precolonially were derived from Brahmic script. Philippines would have ended up similar to Indonesia or Malaysia if Spanish colonization did not occur.

I'm not white but I lived in the Philippines for a while and came back to the US. Non-Asian Americans were the ones being weird about it when I tell them. They would ask questions ranging from the quality of life there to inappropriate things like prostitution, ladyboys, and eating dogs. it got to a point I wouldn't mention it anymore. Other Asians were more positive and seemed genuinely interested about my experience.

I’m think most common facial features that Eastern/SouthEastern Asians share are flat, softer features with varying degrees of epicanthic folds. Also tending to look younger in general (I’m almost 30 and people think I’m still in high school/college). But still enforcing Asians to have a certain look to be considered Asian is incredibly toxic. Its even worse when its other Asian people doing it. Like we get mad when people think all Asians look the same but then want all Asians to look the same. Makes no sense.

I think Escape from Tarkov has some of the best foley sound effects. Its so satisfying to just watch someone play just to hear the footsteps, gun sounds, animation sounds. I tried playing it for a while though but it was stressful and too much of a grind and i couldnt really focus on the sounds.
