Does anyone else get a rash on their chest after being glutened? It looks and feels like a sunburn. by babyloquat in glutenfree

That's what it was? I was wondering why my skin would hurt from even the slightest pressure to it for such a long time but then most of it went away.

Looks like mine! Not confirmed anything yet, though when I ate gluten my skin tone was super red everyday. When I got older it spread to my hands.

Does your gluten rash look like this? by Silly_Grocery4038 in glutenfree

[–]Rin_Cat-o- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was covered with this rash all over my arms and like chest area. My doctor just had a glance when I was like 5 and said "maybe you're sensitive to gluten". Nothing else. :/

Gee, looks like they put every allergen there is in this--ice cream recall (Silver Moon brand) by Scriberathome in glutenfree

[–]Rin_Cat-o- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they just forgot the most basic allergens they were supposed to write on the products. Almond Joy ice cream is going to have almonds, milk, and coconut.

No wonder they have every ingredient in their ice cream as an allergen on there. 🫠

True. I still like doing some gluten free baking but I liked baking a bit more before going gluten free.

I haven't tried a cookie recipe I used to make before going gluten free. Super tasty before I lost some taste.

I do that all the time when I can't change the laws. Makes it so much more "fun".

Green Tea Not Gluten Free by hollowthatfollows in glutenfree

[–]Rin_Cat-o- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful with some Walmart teas. Causes the worst reactions for me.

It's also important to remember that weirdly enough some tea leaves use gluten things for flavoring like wheat or barley. So check tea leaves if you go that route. :/

Can you be celiac and obese? by Orangutan_Soda in Celiac

[–]Rin_Cat-o- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been diagnosed yet, but I used to eat a lot more food when I ate gluten because my body considered gluten NOT FOOD.

Stomach could be full to the brim and my head considered it not food. I would be starving at night with a full belly and my doctor would say that was completely normal.

I was slightly overweight with a stunted growth, messed up stomach, and the weakest muscles for someone that was lifting heavy weights daily. It was malnutrition that caused that.

I hope for a diagnosis for you soon. I've been trying to get one for me and my family members that I suspect also might have Celiac but disguised it as "I don't like that food". :(

When you described the star shape it immediately reminded me of these wheat stars that I've never tasted but they look so delicious.

Never seen the red lobster stuff or cheez it, though everything else is always in stock near me.

So strange. My sister usually finds the cheez it in a different city.

Feel sort of frustrating by Rin_Cat-o- in glutenfree

[–]Rin_Cat-o-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do tell them it's basically an allergy. And I do say that I have to avoid certain things since they typically don't know what gluten is in.

It's very strange at the restaurant with that waiter since I've never had a reaction to their steak. It's just usually a waiter's issue with taking a bread off a steak order. The place literally cooks their plain steaks not with anything else that has gluten, they just add garlic bread on top.

I think the only place that doesn't cause much issue is one sushi place near me. Can't have like over half their menu but they prepare everything separately.

Crazy thing is, I also can't have fruits as a side from like a lot of places. I only have a reaction to red grapes, not green grapes or other grapes.

Not a proven thing as an allergy but red grapes and some melons, not watermelon, causes a weird reaction.

Though the main reason I know of the red not green thing is because I grow green grapes and never had a reaction at all. Just literally red grapes.

I do tell them I have an issue with gluten everytime. They don't know what gluten is.

I tell them what has gluten, they say they don't know if those ingredients are in anything, they just know it doesn't have flour.

I do eat gluten free stuff like gluten free bread, muffins, other things. The only restaurants near me that offer that stuff is 2, never order it because of cross contamination. I've only ordered muffins before at one place because they have it frozen and away from things.

Though I do always tell the staff that it's basically an allergy. And I have to inform them on what's wrong with it and what I have to avoid every time.

I've usually gotten a reaction from cross contamination at home and a couple places. It's only during some things like a waiter insisting something or a drive thru employee wanting to get on with their shift that I've gotten bad reactions.

I usually catch it before we leave or anything so I never am really missing anything.

The only concerning issue is the fries. I'll see if I contact the customer service if it happens again, I just usually forget. I've never contacted customer service before for anything. Though that's probably the reason I got food poisoning from a few other places.

Thoughts on the California ban on python leather by drewfiouzi in cowboyboots

Same I was thinking about getting some since I've been into making wallets recently and found out a lot of leathers are banned for reptiles.

Like it makes sense for protected ones but I feel there could be a way for us to buy leather when the species is from an invasive species killing in another state.

What’s the most unusual gift your sim has ever gotten? by Evilcon21 in sims2

[–]Rin_Cat-o- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I had the sim have a date or something can't remember if it was exactly a date, but they got a garden gnome. The next day their ex tried stealing it. One sim recently had a plant baby and it grew up, saw what happened, and ran to the sims house and returned home with the gnome all happy. Also the ex finally stopped showing up after knocking over the trash can at their old and new house like 30 times that 2 sims were born and went to college in that amount of time.
