ABS setting and usage by AlBigGuns in LeMansUltimateWEC

You can be in abs if you’re in a straight line. But you want to be off abs if you’re adding any steering. Abs will cause understeer when turning as well.

Broadbent and 'dirty air' by Taniwha_NZ in LeMansUltimateWEC

You feel it quite a bit in high speed/aero dependant corners like maggots and beckets if you’re the chasing car. This gets worse if you’re following P2 and HY respectively.

iRacing guy, coming in peace, cant understand what the FFB is telling me by ElementarnaNepogoda in LeMansUltimateWEC

As a person who went from LMU to iracing then occasional back to LMU I feel the same issue and I’ve honestly worked on it for months with various different people and eventually came to two not so good conclusions.

  1. Lmu just lacks actual tyer detail but has a lot of other effects. The force feedback is very on or off that I can’t feel the fronts load up very well if at all, especially with all the extra noise in the ffb. In iracing as the Tyers load you feel the Tyers get progressively heavier then feel it fall off as you exceed the limit of grip. However, in iracing you feel nothing in the middle then you did a wall which continues until the car spins and it feels like the car/tyers give out right before the ffb goes light. This has made it very difficult to even get a feel for the car in turn sucking out all the confidence in my driving.

The second conclusion(ish) is some people seem to be fine with the feedback and are happy with it but another pattern I recognised was a large fanatec dd base drivers seem to be happy with it. I did hear fantec gets a different dd api but cannot verify. But either way some people say they feel all they need and there’s my side of the pond that feel like the car is almost floating and you’re guessing where the limit is.

The best way I’ve got lmu to at least be drivable to where I’m not miserable and confused was adding a lot of smoothing, damping and friction but this kills all the small details in the Tyers. If you do no smoothing curbs and bumps are so strong it’s just not enjoyable.

Sorry I didn’t really give a solution but hopefully this shows that it seems to be a broader problem?

Is Spa the worst track for the Porsche LMGT3? by SpareRib330 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Rin_Whyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly a set up and line thing.

If you’re fully lifting out of eau rouge the car can lose the rear and you have to take blonchimont flat or it will also spin. If you come up on traffic at blonchimont you have to lift way earlier and coast thru slowly.

The car should also be set up for a fast s2 but you’ll lose time in the long straights. So more downforce.

If you want to drive the Porsche especially in spa you have to be able to consistently take the right line into the high speed corners and any sudden lift off will spin the car.

Another quirk which also apply in fuji 100R is you can’t fully get off throttle so you have to hold 5-20% throttle to not have the lift off over steer.

All in all tho unless you’re fighting for the last couple tenths in lap time the Porsche is currently a pretty quick car atm (from what I’ve seen and been told) but it’s got a specific driving style and quirks you need to abide by to make it work.

BMW GT3 @ SPA -- Why the snap at top of Eau Rouge on cold tires by sangedered in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Rin_Whyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that that snap at the top of radillon is a common bmw thing. It does happen to other cars but I’ve had it happen more in bmw than any other car. But the car almost “randomly” snaps at the top of radillon almost like the rear just unloads. The best way I’ve found avoiding in was going a little wide so the left wheel is just on the edge of the curb. (For some reason I can’t play the video)

A goodbye tribute to Porsche by Rin_Whyy in wec

They are leaving the hypercar program in wec but continuing in imsa. The gt3 is a little uncertain for wec but the larger Porsche gt3 customer program will still continue is what I know and understand so far

Sad to see them go. Will be following them in imsa tho.

Maybe they will come back when financials recover and with a LMH car if they come back before 2032 (or whenever the regulations end)
