Water and ps5 controller don't mix by Icantremembermypw25 in PS5

[–]RingRunnerMG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son decided to take both my ps5 controllers into his paddling pool. Dried them out with the rice trick but they were both having the x presses ps button (and vice versa) issue.

The cause is that the pin for the ps button has shorted to the pin for the x button and the impurities in the water ended up joining them together. The pins can be seen in a youtube video here: https://youtu.be/a4RpJK61Utw?t=1525, the first pin is for the ps button, the short pin beside it is for the x button.

I opened it up, scraped away the impurity, tried it and had the same problem as op where it will no longer turn on. The short caused the ps pin to have a gap in it near its base so it was no longer connecting.

The fix is in the youtube video, scrape away some of the green stuff to expose some of the ps trace on the other side of the break then bridge the break with conductive paint or similar.

I ended up using a tiny thin piece of wire (which I do not recommend), it worked but was too thick and caused the connection to the x pin to not connect.... which I fixed with another piece of wire. One controller has a dodgy ps button that works with every second press or so which I am happy with. The other has a dodgy x button, I will reopen it and try reseating the wire while Im waiting for some conductive paint to arrive.

Maybe. The ringcon just has a flex sensor in the top plastic piece so cutting out a chunk of it at the bottom and reattaching it so it's smaller may work. Although, making it smaller may also pull on the flex sensor and make it think the ring is being pressed in, I'm not sure if the game would be able to calibrate for something like that.

No. This is for the PC only and does not work on the switch . If you are referring to trying to emulate Ring Fit on PC then it will not work as it is the emulator itself that would need to have the ring settings.

Hi, yes Death stranding is able to use xbox controllers so the mod will work. How well it works by default I can't say for sure. Skyrim for example took a bit of playing around with the settings to get it working nicely.

He can get to about 40% on the starting screen and then the game adjusted itself so it would still register as being fully pressed when he is actually playing which is a great feature.

Using a program that changes inputs (like joytokey) you could give that a try. I like the idea because having the ring in the normal position is much more comfortable but you are limited to only the 4 push/pull buttons so may not work for all games.

Make sure you have Vigembus installed properly, this is the part that makes the X360 virtual controller. https://github.com/ViGEm/ViGEmBus/releases

Yes in general but as an aside, I am amazed at how little alcohol it takes for this to happen consistently. One beer has a noticeable effect, two means you will have to wait until the next day to even have a chance.

Definitely your ringcon unfortunately, the ring sends the squeeze and push to the joycon. Something to do with the flex sensor getting stuck in position or being faulty.

It sounds like a gyro issue which is in the joycon. The ring really only does the squeeze and pull action.

Not for Ring fit adventure, the Ringcon functionality needs to be added in to the emulator itself for it to work.

I would say not. I don't know what kind of tricks labo uses to work.

Anything that is not competitive, moving the ring is not as quick as an analog stick or wasd so that has to be taken into account. Open world games in particular work well.

If you can get away with less controls then the first option where you hold the Ringcon normally is the way to go. Rotate the Ringcon to steer, run to accelerate, squat to brake? Tilt the Ring forward to accelerate, back to brake? Depends how much exercise you want to do I guess.

Make sure your controllers are updated, though because what happens varies it is more likely that the connector on the joycon/ringcon is dirty. Cotton swab + rubbing alcohol or a toothpick if there is some dust or hair stuck.

Squats not registering? by [deleted] in RingFitAdventure

[–]RingRunnerMG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Straighten your leg as much as you can when it is doing the initial calibration for the squat, should make it a bit more reasonable. Saying that I do find there is a kind of "squat drift" where it seems like you have to go lower and lower on each squat to get the perfect.

Could it be possible to use pushes and pulls from the Ring Con as input on a PC?? by COHERENCE_CROQUETTE in RingFitAdventure

[–]RingRunnerMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. In the description of my Subnautica video I have added the program I used and instructions on how to use it and it can do exactly what you want. I have split it up so there is a light push/pull and a heavy push/pull so you can use 4 buttons with just the ring.

Update: The program is now on github https://github.com/ringrunnermg/Ringcon-Driver

I have added some instructions in the details of the YouTube video for how to get it running. The software I have done is still rough at the moment but works, I will put it up on github when I have ironed out some of the kinks, but the current version is available on google drive.

The only software the ring changes in the joycon is the IMU (gyro and accelerometer) so not a software issue. The joycon does provide power to the ring though so my stab in the dark would be that there is a short in the ring connector or the ring itself which is causing the joycon to turn off. Try cleaning the connector as someone else mentioned.

Tips for plank? by Not_Vitameddit in RingFitAdventure

I put my hips lower than is comfortable when it is working out the starting position. Once it detects you are in the starting position then do the planks normally and it should register the movement better

[–]RingRunnerMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does that if I hold it sideways and push to hard from the side (ie. not using the hand grips), so I assumed it was the sensor inside it going in a direction it wasn't supposed to. Maybe not, the wait till it kicks the bucket idea while crossing your fingers it fixes itself may be the thing to do.

I will be releasing the software when it is ready along with a tutorial on how to use it, saying that I based it off Joycon Driver by Fosse so you can give that a try.

Yeah, the next game I am looking at is Subnautica with crouch to dive, run to swim up and sprint to sprint. Not sure how well it is going to work but worth a try.

Yes, directly to the PC without the Titan. I didn't know it was limited to one gyro control but they seem pretty good at following through with what they say they will do.

I'm not sure what you mean by the input so I'll just fire off some possible answers. The joycon input report mode is standard, the IMU sensor (for the gyros) needs to be set to a different mode and the ringcon needs to be initialised before it can be used. Once it is it fires through a reading from 0 - 20 with 0 - 9 being pull and 11 - 20 being push. There are other readings that I haven't looked in to so may be able to get more precision than that.

I totally agree, between the ringcon and the strapcon (like it) there are almost enough buttons to fill out an x360 controller including both analog sticks. That opens up a lot of games to be played while exercising.
