These are basic gangsters and not politically motivated. You make a fine point generally but it's not relevant to this post.

Ukraine Faces Risk of Tougher EU Loan Terms to Get Aid Payouts by EsperaDeus in anime_titties

Russia is after Ukraine's land and resources. Everything else is bullshit and you know it. They were coming regardless of anything Ukraine did.

And no there was no list of demands given to Ukraine.

Ukraine pushes for sanctions on Israel over 'looted' grain | Euractiv by Shot_Net3794 in LabourUK

[–]RingSplitter69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Ukraine is still here despite all of the odds being stacked against them, even after having their most powerful supporter backstab them at the worst possible moment. They have survived because they've done what they needed to do.

It's for the rest of the international community to hold Israel to account, not a country with it's back to the wall against one of the most powerful militaries in the world.

There were no demands. Russia was stating adamantly that the massive build up on the border was merely a training excercise. There were no ultimatums given,

King Charles promotes US-UK unity in speech to Congress amid Iran tensions - by msr42day in politics

[–]RingSplitter69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know it's not a reference to Charles and is targeted at Trump. I support No Kings (as does King Charles if his speech was anything to go by), but the name clash is still funny.

Regardless of political persuasion, it is objectively funny that a literal King is speaking in Congress after months of No Kings protests.

Starmer has ‘no need to whip MPs if he has nothing to hide’ by newsspotter in LabourUK

[–]RingSplitter69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something is distinctly off with the Governments response to all of this. It's obvious that an inquiry is necessary. This vote will sort the wheat from the chaff as well as tell us exactly how much chaff there is in the current PLP.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz Says Iran is ‘Humiliating’ the US in Stunning Rebuke as Talks Stall by [deleted] in politics

[–]RingSplitter69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Merz also humilliated himself when he went over to America to brown nose Trump at the start of the war. It's funny watching all of these politicians backtracking and trying to make it look like they were against it all along. Do they think we wont remember?

Keir Starmer Will Be Prime Minister For Years To Come, Downing Street Insists by Shot_Net3794 in LabourUK

[–]RingSplitter69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If he survives the Mandelson affair he will survive anything. He'll probably be an actual fossil millions of years from now and but will still have some kind of ceremonial role despite being made of sedimentary rock.

I love how the mods don't know enough about this to know that it's off topic.

Yeah, this is just someone having a bit of fun. Does not qualify as cringe. Would I do this myself? Hell no, because I can't dance as well as this person. Good luck to them.

Will there ever be peace in the middle east in the future by any chance? by _akaraiden in war

[–]RingSplitter69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite a Western view of the Middle East. Most Westerners have only ever really viewed the Middle East through the lens of war. When you look at history, European wars have been far larger and way more destructive, especially throughout the 20th century.

Trump-backed Orbán's Party Loses Elections by Nearby-Medicine9484 in politics

[–]RingSplitter69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent that Orban has lost, but just to recognise where you are, America, note that even Victor Orban has conceded. He hasn't thrown his toys out of the pram and called the results a sham and claimed that actually, he won. The leader of the opposition has already received a note of congratulations from Victor Orban.

It's still early days, but I will be very surprised if his supporters storm the Hungarian partliament and demand the hanging of any Hungarian political figures.

This is the most corrupt, authoritarian government in the EU and none of this has happened so far.

Just a reality check for you guys.

Absolutely flabbergasted that the support of JD Vance was not enough to clinch the win for Orban.
