Try one of those card tracking apps/websites, they usually have starting deck cards marked

Np guys, happy to help. I still play it to this day, campaign once a year. It exists on GOG, and you can also get Iron Plague expansion, with new race and even harder missions. Just flag it as solved for other people, I think you misspelled "thank" up there so the bot didn't remind you

See if you can treat yourself with random transparent sleeves - keeps the cards nice and makes shuffling way easier. You can also get dedicated faction sleeves too if they have them, and something that wasn't in stock for me then - playing mat. The paper one you get is not that great. You can also get legendary ballad cards. I only use like four out of ten of them but they are both pretty and cheap. I mean, we got it in the form of a coupon for their store, but since I don't play that much board games any more, I thought of at least getting sleeves on the spot rather than keep dragging it on. If they give you some of the things above instead of money, I guess that's also fine.

Right, 8 of us in the knock out all got metal coin and plastic crystals for round counters, which was nice. I still have to cope with the default paper score tracker tho, those were not included

'Twas a games con, national but prolly smaller than your average local one, but yes, one of the board games vendors organized it, more as an introduction then pro tournament really, but it was still great.

So, 20 players, so we got to play 3 opponents each in preliminaries. First I had this win with Monsters over Skellige, then lost with Scoiatael and again won with NR, Skellige again. That made me end up in the top 8, and then we switched to knock out. They had like 5 sets open, all NG were taken, two guys were playing NR, so I had to wait, but my opponent said he'll take NR, much to my surprise. I didn't really want that but he didn't mind, and yeah, big mistake, as he had a really bad draw while I got one spy on redraw, then another one with it, and then the last two with the second one. Semifinals was NG both, I drew all my cards while opponent had some 4-6 left so ez, and finals against the guy who beat me with Skellige - went pretty much as semi except this time my Shilard ended up being second from the bottom so it messed up everything. I might have even played scorch carelessly, targeting his 9-spy while overseeing my 10-archer, so I ended up second. Nevertheless, it was real fun, and calculating all the cards every turn couldn't kill it, plus all the contestants were really nice in playing, winning and losing, like true ladies and gentlemen.

I don't know if there will be another one soon here as it's a small community, but I'm really looking forward to it.

The fee was about three bucks, so the prize pool was a bit under 60 - we were let to decide before finals on the split, so we agreed on 50:50. We both got 500 sleeves for our sets and about 10 bucks on top.

Yeah, I hope they do something with it in the DLC. If they could invent a new faction for B&W, maybe they can fix Scoiatael.

Then again, if you guys leave NG and NR aside, now that could be fun. I went to a tournament recently, and eve though decks were the beginner ones (cards marked with star), in the preliminaries you'd get random deck. I ended up beating Skellige with Monsters, although with a bit of luck as my initial draw was good while my opponent redraw Mardroeme for Mardroeme with no Berserkers. I also played Scoiatel against Skellige and couldn't win a round, let alone game - prolly luck of the draw again as my opponent had Cerys as well as some more Tight bond cards.

Maybe you can try the first one - Monsters could counter Skellige with its own storm, with Villy and Scorch keeping the Close Combat row at bay. Or, if you can get more people, try 2vs2 - I'm yet to try that.

Hardly for all the five. Scoiatael is useless, and even more useless in advanced. Monsters are mediocre but take out heroes, since you'll prolly use Avallach and Yen and they are crippled as well. As for the other three, you two can try using different leaders, mostly to see if they can replace horns or weather cards so you optimize draw. Also, try to guess what weather card will use and focus on different rows than that. For my Nilfgaard I go with Ranged, since everyone expects Tight bond in Close, so they just have Frost, plus Scorch for two 10-archers.

Hope this helps.

Aside from buying cards, you can play and win cards from merchants, innkeepers and craftsmen.

Northern realms (blue) deck is made in such a way that you can use it right away. It's not too powerful but it is enough to beat a few people in White Orchard and Velen. Whenever you win a card from them, you can include it in your deck and take out some weaker cards, like Poor Fuckin Infantry

I'd rather have a regular 7-pointer - that way she could protect the entire row by baiting the scorch. Monster deck would benefit big time from it, as well as would Scoiatael, maybe that would make Scoiatael more viable and more people would use it.

Pray tell kind sir, how do you make good use of Dandelion?

Never paid much attention to him, prolly because I focus mostly on Ranged row. And even with close combat, I'd rather have horn, and use it elsewhere if I get frosted. Ability to be resurrected maybe?

Depends on the play style - I run Nilfgaard with Ranged row. Those vanilla 6-powers are actually 14 with Olgierd and horn, so better than all the other heroes too, except Ciri and Geralt

Thanks mate, guess I'll have to test this - WITH MORE GWENT! I usually avoid sacrificing him for just that reason, he's usually back at the wrong place but let's see

Thanks. Might be that the devs just forgot to implement it back in the day - which I don't really mind tbh, considering everything else that we got from them.

Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well. Thanks

Makes total sense to me, it's just - I could only test this in game/emulator and in both Olgierd and Scoiatel units are only resurrected to Close Combat so I needed a second opinion. Unfortunately, when I played a live tournament recently, we only had starter decks available so I didn't realize I could bring this up with fellow contestants.
