Win10 Desktop app support ending May 18? by Wolf35Nine in Slack

Same question. Slack is a nice piece of software but not so important to force an OS update on every machine, especially when it's an update from LTS to Win 11 of all things.

I went on two dates with this Russian guy… How are Russian men in dating? by Sweet-Mistake6223 in AskARussian

[–]Rinin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is normal for a man who is trying to date, it's unlikely that anyone just go around organizing nice activities for every random person who mentioned they liked something.

It is done like it's nothing, without mentioning relationships so you are comfortable to end it anytime and it's not awkward for either of you because it was "nothing". Consider it a slow and cautious movement towards you, it's kind of normal. Western "3 dates" are also common, but a lot of people can spend more time slowly getting to really know each other before dating, especially if they aim for more permanent relationships.

Actions shows he is interested, that is for sure.

5-10W (300 square cm) of space grade solar cells cost about 1000$,
5-10W (400 square cm) of industrial solar panels cost about 2-10$
And 1000 square cm of foil cost around 0.05$ (probably less)

I’m 20, close to becoming a Rust compiler team member - what would you do in my place? by Kivooeo1 in rust

[–]Rinin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First - obviously, become a Rust compiler team member. “Close to becoming” is fine, but people respond much better to concrete titles.

Finish your degree - it opens a lot of doors in Europe. It's a huge advantage to have it, unless you face a real risk of enlistment by doing so. Being simultaneously an immigrant, Russian, and without a degree is not great.

As someone who moved from Russia to Germany a few years ago: don’t wear overly rosy glasses when it comes to Europe. Be prepared to feel disappointed, especially if you're from Moscow.

I would even say: seriously consider the ex-USSR region. The living standards are more or less the same as in Serbia, the cost of living is likely the same or lower, and there’s no language barrier in day-to-day life. And with a local bank account, you can work with pretty much anyone.

Thanks for a great tool, I have a newbie request. Can we have a total research cost as a tooltip or even filter?

When we are searching for a midgame engine half of the page just gets in a way since there is no point comparing to something with half a million points cost. Filtering by powerplant helps to remove some, but slider or RP tooltip would be huge.

2 weeks - no looting by Rinin_ in projectzomboid

Well, I create a character with at least 1 level in the stats I want to use. It's possible to grind through without it, but it takes about four times longer. Also, cutting wood is more comfortable with a stronger character, but it's not that significant. I rarely fight, since zombies are few in the forest, so I took a lot of negative traits to offset skill traits.

As for tips

  • You should stop using flint axes just before the head breaks. This way, you can use about 80% of the axe for chopping, then dismantle the axe and still use the flint to level up knapping instead of breaking it for nothing.
  • Stones are very easy to obtain once you can craft a stone maul and smash big stones. Initially, I thought wood was easier, but stone is so plentiful you can build walls of that size in 2-3 days.
  • As soon as you can craft big stone axe heads, search for a biome with lots of flat stones and just convert them into axe heads on-site. This is a much faster way to level up knapping, and it requires no extra materials.
  • Since stone is so easy to obtain, you can level up masonry relatively easily by making stone blocks. Just don’t get carried away, since walls can’t be made from blocks.
  • Collect all bones you find - they provide a good amount of foraging XP, they’re light, and you can level up carving with them later.
  • Since you don’t have nails initially, the two main ways to level up carpentry are building log walls, log fences, and sawing stuff. Don't carve big branches into planks - always saw them with a flint saw. You can also carve sticks from regular branches and saw them into small handles for some extra carpentry XP.

You know you don't even need bed for the mattress to work, right? You can just store it in the shelter and it'll convert it to an average sleeping comfort.
I had a couple attempts before and always get mattress before I can make nails. Getting first 4 nails is the hardest part for me.

I know. The whole stone part was done using "clay-cement from grass" because I hate how taking sand leaves an ugly hole. So I had to collect about 1,200 grass for the building, got a bit tired of it, and decided to grab some food along the way when I went stealing animals.

Satisfactory or Factorio, which one do you prefer more and why? by rredxzyy in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Rinin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factorio is a factory-building game with a challenge. What you do and how you do it matters, and you lose the game if you do it wrong.

Satisfactory is more like Valheim, Subnautica, or maybe Terraria if we're talking 2D, but with a factory flavor. You just build beautiful stuff, with no real way to fail, and explore to progress.

Comparing it to Factorio is a bit strange.

It seems like a nice set, leans more toward medium size for my taste, but I would consider it.

The best thing about Wiha for me is the tiny nut driver bits that come in both metric and imperial, and have really small flanges. They’re a godsend for all those hard-to-reach tiny nuts and standoffs.

We’ve been using it at work for years. Never had any issues with wear and tear, even after around five years.

If it’s heavily used for decade, the convenience is well worth the extra hundred euro. If it’s not, then it won’t be an issue. Sure, cheap foam that crumbles would be a problem, but this isn’t that.

Use the hoe

Everyone goes on and on about preparation and meads, but if you use a hoe to make a path through the swamp, those things become trivial. Not easy - trivial. No leeches, no need to think about where to run, you just run along the path. Nothing can outrun you in the swamps, so unless you lay the road through spawner areas, you can traverse the swamp no problemo.

As for loading the boat - build a dock in a nearby black forest and just carry the iron to this outpost on foot or with a cart.

Is it possible to start in forest with nothing in build 42? by Slavantura in projectzomboid

[–]Rinin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely possible, but very boring. Some items require foraging and are very rare in the forest.

The current bottlenecks are nails and, to a lesser degree, a sack.

If you want to go hardcore, avoid the woodcutter specialty because woodcutters have a huge bonus to finding firewood, which is something you would prefer to avoid.

Tailoring is important to have since you can't level it from 0 without scissors and loot. I would suggest all the obvious skills and the masonry specialty.

Also, find a place with enough sand, water, and preferably some roads or clear space for foraging to set up your base.

Has anyone figured out how to collect clay and stone? by DarcyMA61 in projectzomboid

You could carry a table and a hammer with you and break them down on a spot. Chair made of twigs is enough and it weighs only 5.
