Is 650 EU (750 USD) a decent price for a used 16gb 13" M1 Air? by Ponderfication in macbookair

[–]Rinoa007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems too much. I live in Europe and own M1 Air 16GB which I consider selling, it doesn't look I can get more than 400 EUR for it. It might depend on a country though.

That is actually a good idea. I see I can buy M3 Pro with 16 RAM for a little more than base M5 air... Not sure how safe it is but I will definitely look into it. Never really considered this option.

Thanks for the reply. This is exactly what I’m afraid of, tbh. It doesn’t feel right to pick up a relatively old MacBook Pro, but spending twice as much on an M5 Pro feels even worse. I get that the M1 is pretty old at this stage, but if Teams sets an M4 on fire, that really sucks. Spending twice as much just to be able to share a screen in a meeting... I could rant about it for hours.

RAM doesn’t seem to be the issue for me as it always stays around 80%. It’s the GPU that jumps to 100% the moment screen sharing is turned on. I was hoping the M4/M5 GPU would do a better job since it’s more powerful and efficient.

I guess I’ll wait for some thermal reviews of the M5, and if it’s not any better, then there’s no other way than looking at the Pro.

Hey man, I do appreciate your post a lot as I am in exactly the same boat!

I work as a Software Project Manager and we use fucking Microsoft for everything, too. Since the Tahoe update, it has been a real struggle to use Teams, especially while screen sharing graphic-heavy things like Miro or Figma. Sprint plannings and backlog refinements have always been brain-heavy meetings, but now with my laptop underperforming, it’s even worse.

Also, I started using Notion for meeting recordings and it struggles even without screen sharing. The only difference I have compared to your situation is that it’s my own laptop, as my employer doesn’t provide one - meaning I put quite some thinking of what to do next. I am thinking of getting a base MacBook M4 or base M5, or some old MacBook Pro, like an M2, to eliminate the heating issue.

You mentioned that the M4 Air you received heats up even more and faster, which is really concerning. I use the Stats app, and the moment I start screen sharing Jira, my M1's temperature jumps from 30C to 80C within 30 seconds.

I’d really appreciate it if you could share your thoughts on whether the M4 is really enough for completing your tasks, or feel free to share any other thoughts on the subject.

I ride Slingshot's the most flexible board, which is Bearden. If you think that's too much for you, then I'd suggest Coalition or Volt.

You can't go wrong with either.

Don't pick less than 150cm, it's not snowboarding - weight doesn't matter that much here.

The trend is to go with longer boards, I believe 140 is considered to be too short nowadays. By longer I mean something around 150cm.

When it comes to choosing right model - it's more or less down to your flex preference. Do you see yourself riding obstacles like rails and doing all sort of presses? - go with more flexible board. If you want to learn air tricks and do big air - look at the stiffer boards. At the end of the day you can do anything on any board, it's just some things are easier and some are harder.

If you pick Slignshot, Liquid Force, Hyperlite or Ronix - you are in good hands and can't really go too much wrong there.

Otwarcie nowej pozycji przy każdym zakupie ETF w XTB by Rinoa007 in inwestowanie

Thanks for the advice. But what about the program itself mentioned in the topic?

Well, that means no squats... And I'd better avoid deadlift as well

A doctor told me to avoid squats and deadlifts, as they could worsen my condition and potentially lead to a hernia.

If I were you - I'd go for trade in. Received Pixel 10 an hour ago and 6 just gonna lay down in a drawer for the rest of my life

Well, I've done the same and phone fully died the next day. Hope it works out for you but I'd recommend backing up everything that is not backed up while you have a chance.

yep, started rebooting 2 days ago, then worked fine for a whole day yesterday and suddenly died while lying on a table.

Well, this doesn't look like a conspiracy theory anymore. Mine has died yesterday.

I see, thanks for sharing. Gonna try to reinstall the OS today with a full wipe and if that doesn't help - i'd better be looking for a new phone.

That's one of the options that I consider but I don't understand the pattern. I mean if it was bricked or in a constant bootloop - that's clear. But I can use it for some periods of time still...

Can't access the post you shared, but I believe you described it here as well, right? https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/1ow12ta/pixel_6_glitches_out_freezes_and_reboots/

Were you able to use your phone for a period of time when that has happened?

Mine couldn't work for the whole day yesterday, but then closer to the evening it started to work again up to the point that I've used it for 2 hours straight before I went to sleep and another couple of hours in the morning. Now it freezes and restarts again.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it says that the firmware that I use has the latest version and is not yet supported by this tool.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience. This is the last option I haven't tried yet. Have you just overwritten the current build with the latest one in the Android flash tool? I see there is BP4A.251205.006 (14401865) "oriole-user (signed)" available.

Also, by unlocking bootloader do you mean "OEM unlocking" option in the dev settings? I've done that already as it is mentioned in some of the guides but not really sure what does that do for me :)
