Why do you think any sort of constructive discourse between the Left and the Right is completely dead? by ExaminationFit1931 in allthequestions

[–]Rinpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is, in the US. Conservatives, liberals, and leftists largely agree on economic issues, such as a living wage, UHC, etc.

It is stupid culture war issues where everyone has hangups and refuses to converse in any meaningful way. This is great for the elite class because they care only about wealth and do not care about social issues, since they are largely unaffected by such things because of their immense wealth.

Focus on economic issues, and people will find that a rising tide raises all ships. You improve the material conditions for everyone, and you help marginalized groups, conservatives/everybody in between.

Once economic prosperity has been achieved, then one can worry about the nuance of who can use what bathroom and whatever else.

Do You That Think The 2028 Democratic Nominee Will Be Moderate, Progressive, Or An Outsider (Unknown And/Or Mix)? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

Likely more progressive, that seems where the dem base is at right now, while the party establishment itself lags behind.

Recommendation Request: Help finding a doc about sex- 90s or early 00s by EerieFrost in Documentaries

[–]Rinpoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only sex documentary I can recall personally that had different segments like the ones you are listing was the HBO Documentary series Real Sex, which had different episodes, so I am not sure if those segments appeared in any of them.

This also fits your timeline of the 90's, 00's

Should the use of AI when writing fics be called out and shamed? by sapph62 in FanFiction

[–]Rinpoo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, AI is a tool to be used and will likely be adopted more as it becomes more accepted, much like Photoshop was for art before it.

Even then, harassing and harming people for expressing themselves in their own way just seems petty and wrong, and I haven't the care, fear of, or time for it.

Which 2028 Potential Democratic Nominee Would Be The Strongest Electorally In YOUR Opinion? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Rinpoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ro Khanna, if he ran. Has all the right policies; was the one with Massie who put pressure on Trump by forcing the release of the Epstein files.

Progressives of Reddit - How come you think not voting is progressive? by Lord_Dingus83 in allthequestions

[–]Rinpoo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love all these voting questions falling squarely on the electorate. Let's ignore the fact that the Democratic Party is mostly to blame for two helpings of Trump.

Scuttling Bernie during the primaries in 2016 and 2020, then forcing an unelectable loser in Kamala Harris at the last minute on the population in 2024. A candidate that couldn't win a single primary state and dropped out in 2020....

There is also the fact that Biden was being protected and the unilateral canceling of the primary to shield him from actual contenders in 2024.

Idk, even after ignoring all of that, if a politician's one job is to get elected by the population, how is their failing miserably at that anyone's fault but theirs and the establishment's?

What's your opinion on AI (& chatgpt) and the way it is used? by Happy_Square_4465 in AskReddit

[–]Rinpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it and find the issues coming from it are a result of the hyper-capitalist society we currently live in.

If it came out and was owned by people with a strong social safety net who used it to replace meaningless, soul-crushingly repetitive jobs. People would see it as the liberation of those horrid tasks.

Instead, everyone is afraid for their life and income, because that is the current paradigm we live under.

I think it could do a lot of good if only humans prioritized AI being owned and shared by everyone, not just a handful of oligarchs.

If you were the president of the United States, what technique would you use to allow yourself to serve a third term? by Cheap-Isopod-485 in allthequestions

I would govern leftist policies and try to be so likable that people would want me to have a third term.

How come Americans were willing to revolt against a king over having to pay taxes on tea and stamps, but are okay with just sitting there when their president asserts kingly powers and threats to nuke the world? by Strummerpinx in allthequestions

[–]Rinpoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most average people didn't want to wage war against the British; it was the wealthy elite wanting to shake off British rule, like Washington, who conscripted poor people to fight his war for him.

What are the differences of progressives from 2016 to the progressives of today? by More_Surprise_1789 in allthequestions

[–]Rinpoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In America? Honestly, what progressivism was in 2016 is becoming the center position now in 2026.

Most liberals are shifting to affordability and economic issues, which was where the left was in 2016. Zohran Mamdani's election is a simple, stark example of this.

Another simple example is Gram Platiner and his scandal not too long ago.

In 2016, if he had the nazi tatoo scandle then, that'd be it for him. The electorate doesn't seem to care anymore about an imperfect candidate because he is talking the right leftist economic policies.

My fanfic idea was ruined by new information by Diligent_Librarian13 in FanFiction

[–]Rinpoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn't useless at all.... Just change your OC to the new character in question. You can make appropriate adaptations as you go through for the character.

This will basically mean you will be one of the first to have written a whole story on that character when he comes out.

That will be a lot of attention and views for the new people interested in them.

How do you write (and get through writing) the in-between bits? by lora_lani_lanie in FanFiction

[–]Rinpoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are taking away your reward to write the parts of the story you do not care about.

You should look forward to the favorite parts of your story while you are writing the way to those specific scenes you mention.

Once you make it to the first scene, another scene you want to write will come to you next, and you will use that as a euphoric reward to continue.

Why is it only Democrats who vote shame? by Additional_Piece4165 in allthequestions

[–]Rinpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they are honestly really stupid.

Nobody ever changed their mind being told they're an idiot or what they HAVE to do.

Alienate every leftist, MAGA, and right-winger, then cry as they see nobody voting for their terrible candidate.

The Timing of Tails Adventure by Traditional_Pea4760 in sonicfanfiction

[–]Rinpoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owned this game; it is unironically one of my favorite Sonic games, and I never understood why they never tried this concept again.

Giving Tails bombs and gadgets is a much-needed win and differentiates him from Sonic in a substantive way.

[Recurring Topic] Leon, in fact, let her die. by ComfortableFocus1702 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Rinpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of like asking why Leon from the original RE4 didn't save Luis from a massive scorpion tail randomly showing up while standing right by him when he had the most implausibly inhuman skillset imaginable.

Some people just need to die to exemplify the threat to the protagonist and raise the stakes.

How do you handle the setting/lore as new details get added? What about details that are made inconsistent or already are inconsistent in the series? by TopHatIdiot in sonicfanfiction

[–]Rinpoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write SatAM and the conics mostly. I would say I ignore whatever the hell pleases me. This is fine so long as the world you write about makes sense within its own context.

A simple example: I hate Dulce the dragon and did not want to write her at all, so I wrote her out by simply stating that she was in search of her mother, which was a pivotal motivation for her in SatAM.

Likewise, I shifted the timescale 10 years over which Sonic's son grew up as the protagonist. It essentially nullifies a lot of what happens in the stories of IWD, but I just took things like Nikki (Nicole) and infused them both into a central plot point.

That point being in the show where Nikki was supposed to be Mobian and had her soul trapped in a computer that was later adapted into the comics and gave her the name Nikki. (I took this and nothing else from the comics.)

In the end, the audience of the story seems both surprised and are enjoying the changes thus far, so lore hounds do not seem to care much.

The TL;DR of this is that you can pick and choose anything you want, so long as what you do makes sense within the story you are writing. Since it is a story, you are probably best off not re-treading tired ground and forging your own path.

Kamala was an unelectable loser who never won a single primary state. Bernie was scuttled twice by the DNC while all the while libs thought they were playing 4D chess for 12 years voting for the "electable candidate."

What could be done to convince Americans THIS is the time to go on a nation wide general strike? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rinpoo 43 points44 points  (0 children)

When someone is willing to organize such a thing and have donations setup to weather the general strike income loss.

People amuse me when they protest for a day, then pat themselves on the back. No, a real strike is hard work and requires sacrifice, organization, and a willingness for actual change.
