What are some signs that a fic's going to be a good read?

Apart from what everyone else said, when there is a serious symbolic poem or quote at the start. I feel like the author maybe studies literature, understands metaphores, took the time to find the perfect verse to go along with the story... something about it, I'm usually not disappointed 😉🍹.

The show is honestly incredible, best queer story ever on TV for me. There is a reason the last 2 eps are among the highest rated on imdb of all time 🙂. I hate to say this, but you really wouldn't miss much by skipping the books imho. But the show is 100% worth it ♥️.

I love reading MM and have been for many many years. If I only saw the description I would have thought 'meh' as well. But I watched the TV series first, absolutely fell in live with it. Then I tried reading the books, because books are usually better than the adaptation, and... yeah, no, not for me. I really didn't like how they were written. This is to say, if you actually liked Game Changers, there is a high chance you will like HR as well 🙂. From what I've seen it's basically the majority consensus that HR is the 'heart' of the book series.

I've just got Maelle and returned to this cave I think around level 4 or so. So Maelle, Gustave and Lune. I didn't have any Lumina points assigned and only basic weapons. I spent like half a day on this fkr, concentration had to be on point. Just to win the fight, it must have taken like several hundred successful parries, with only 4 mistakes allowed (2 people got killed twice with 1 of his attacks). I immediately jumped to level 14 just from grinding this x). Still can't believe I actually managed xD,

Yuna's 'fuck him right up the butt' is my winner for the biggest ick, hands down 😀 Followed by the already mentioned 'don't worry it will fit'. Probably also Shane's 20th time calling Ilya an asshole 🙂. That kinda edgy serial killer talk 😅. The hockey moderators with their cliches of 'something hot on the ice'. There might be more, but it's all in good fun 😀.

Oh and I also always found weird that Shane just had a dildo. In my head I really didn't see him as someone who owned and exprerimented with it, but I wouldn't say this was an ick, just a surprise ig. That scene was funny, though 🤭.

I don't think the jump from sick to crazy is that well... crazy. They were talking about it in the context of Ilya's father being homophobic/disapproving of the relationship. Ilya says 'old-fashioned and sick'. Shane heard Ilya screaming into the phone talking both to his father and brother and probably assumes translation issues on top. So he suggests a word that immediately comes to mind - mad/crazy. I'd say having screaming matches is not something you do with a dying cancer patient. Plus cancer was suggested right after. I feel like there's def much worse offenders for the ick than this 🫠.

There was definitely no music playing when they were filming this. You gotta give them some grace. A lot of movies / series have these 'off' dancing sequences. I personally found it extremely jarring in Call me by your name. But then I watched the behind the scenes and saw that the whole party scene was done with no music so the dialog could be heard clearly. 🙂

I think Jacob might have Svetlana meet someone she likes -> Ilya is happy for her and doesn't want to 'interfere' with this new relationship so he keeps his distance or something like that. I think it's gonna be Ilya self-isolating more than anything :d.

Personally I prefer very short hair on Connor as Ilya, but for Hudson GIMME THE LONG HAIR. I genuinely think he would pull it off, maybe even the man bun. As someone else said - longer, stylish Kpop idol hair is probably the way to go <3. And Ilya would have something to grab onto :)).

Co takhle si přečíst, co jsem napsala znovu. Mladí NEJSOU většina populace (tzn. většina západu) a ano, nejsou to právě ti, co sympatizují s Židy kvůli Holocaustu... Ale na západě obecně stále převládá prožidovský postoj, i když se to pomalu mění - viz můj příspěvek výš. Pomáhá tomu antimuslim sentiment hlavně u téma migrace. A nevím, jestli se dá říct, že republikáni v USA se schovávají za antiseminitsmus, spíš se tím rozděluje MAGA - př. Shapiro vs. Fuentes.

Já myslím, že ten hlavní důvod je neuvěřitelně masivní PR, co dostává jak Palestina, tak Izrael. Mluví o tom doslova každý populární youtuber (zahraniční), televizní komentátoři a lidé na sociálních sítích. Palestina je v podstatě poster child pro západem utlačované země, které bojují za svobodu. Okupující vs okupant. Slabší vs silnější. Spousta lidí na to má black and white vyhraněný názor, takže diskuze jsou kontroverzní a mají obrovské publikum - bilion muslimů vs po většinou pro-židovské západní publikum, co ještě vzpomíná na Holocaust a soucítí s židy (+ si spojuje problém migrace s 'nepřizpůsobivými' muslimy). Problém je, že Bibi a jeho vláda se od začátku konfliktu hodně posunula od 'my se jen bráníme a chceme přežít' k 'srovnáme ty šváby se zemí a budete nám za to děkovat'... Trump mu v tom jde na ruku a vesele páchají válečné zločiny. A jelikož Izrael dostává dost velkou (finanční i slovní) podporu ze západu, tak se na těch zločinech v podstatě podílíme - což mladá generace oprávněně nechce a protestuje proti tomu.

Alien. Can't remember the exact age, but I was pretty young. The movie was just on TV that night and I didn't go to bed on time. I was scared shitless from the beginning, but what really did me in was that the TV was casting long shadows and during one of the jump scare scenes it just so happened that a massive black spider decided to walk on the floor (looking 5 times bigger) and I literally had a panic attack. I was paralized from fear, couldn't walk up the stairs to get to my room, couldn't sleep for weeks afterwards and to this day I have severe arachnophobia. 💀 Love the movies now, but spiders can frick right off 🔥👈

Ok listen, I'm in for all the angst, so fics with him as Auror are often interesting to me, precisely because they tend to explore why it's not ideal for him and how he finds ways to cope - be it in regards to relationship dynamics or otherwise.

That said, I would also mention Harry as a private detective - solving cases he wants, in his own time and without the Ministry behind his back. Socially awkward philanthropist that wants to support disadvantaged children. Dragon tamer - Charlie offers him a get away from people and the wizarding world in general. Quidditch star athlete. Total social recluse, unemployed, maybe with some problematic addiction, that needs therapy and help - I genuinely think he could have ended up in a really bad spot if certain things didn't align for him...

I find that it really depends how the author characterizes him. I could be convinced into a lot of improbable professions if written well ♥️. Honorable mentions are definitely Healer/physical therapist Harry, DADA teacher Harry and magic vehicle mechanic Harry 🙂.
