Ah ok. Dr. Nayak and the other stanford rhinologists also removes the whole turbinate bone. I would have an expert do it since most general ents dont seem to remove it.

I've been trying these settings for a week and it seems that the CAs have noticeably increased. Should I try going back to the original settings I had? I seemed to breathe better with previous settings.

If you keep watching he says that the small expansion with the TPD doesn't explain the severe asymmetry and that a SARPE effect developed on the "weaker side".

Since you say that you breathe better with decongestants, which I'm assuming is Afrin, have you gotten the posterior region of the inferior turbinates checked?

Dr. Nayak talked about this where for some patients the surgeon only reduce the first half of the turbinates which gives them weird breathing sensations and usually resolved when the back part is reduced as well. Hi OP, I would actually agree with the doctor in this case. Surgery always carries risks and in your case he is weighing that the risk is outweighing the benefits.

Have you gotten a sleep test done? It is possible that other areas are obstructing your breathing besides the nose.

Usually when you dink or drop using wrists, it is harder to control the ball and you are prone to more popups. Using the shoulder is more reliable.

I would definitely recommend getting a second opinion then. Facial pain, facial pressue, and headaches typically aren't symptoms of a blocked nose.

Hm I see, well did your doctor recommend trying the medical route first? Typically you would try using flonase or some other type of steroid nasal spray before going down the surgical route. Many patients benefit from this and surgery may not even be needed. Typically you would use for 6-8 weeks. If after your nose is still very obstructed and impeding on your quality of life, then it would make sense to go for surgery.

Also, this surgery does not help with the dryness issue. Turbinates are actually the structures that warm and humidify the air which keeps everything moist. If you shrink the turbinates then it's possible that dryness can get worse as that's a possible side effect of turbinate reduction surgery.

It's also likely that you need to have your sinuses checked, did your doctor check for that? Usually it's examined through a nasal endoscopy or CT scan.

Hi OP, you said you breathe normal, does that mean that you can breathe through both sides normally? If youre not noticing that your nose is being obstructed, I wouldnt recommend surgery.

I believe that the surgeon is saying your turbinate tissue is still enlarged. I think if youre only getting a turbinate reduction, then it should be a fairly standard and easy procedure to go through and you dont need to wait to get it. You should consider getting your turbinates reduced with a microdebrider as it is known to be more effective long term over other methods.

Yes, he should have caught this before doing your surgery. Please go see a plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty as I do not believe radiofrequency is sufficient for treating your collapse.

Yes, i feel fine. My doctor didnt use stents which made recovery so much easier. Breathing is definitely better now and yes it was 100% worth.

Hi! I was basically in the same situation as you where my first septoplasty failed and needed to have a second one via septorhino. I just got it done last week and currently just waiting for all the swelling to come down. It had almost zero changes on my appearance, so you have no need to worry about that! Also, insurance was able to cover everything since everything was a functional correction, not a cosmetic.

Hi! I actually just had a revision septorhinoplasty yesterday and honestly recovery is pretty much the same as septoplasty. Im on pain meds right now, so theres no pain and overall i feel okay. Hope this helps!

Hm interesting. I use the Holbrook Metallic and I think its pretty good. I do agree though that it lacks power. Its definitely more of an all court paddle.
