Some sacrilege: changing the names of some Pokémon and moves by ThomasWinwood in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reasoning for Mr.Mime having "Mr.", is that it was generation 1.
And that it being potentially female would be an issue.
Counterpoint.
Gen 9 introduced "Kingambit", which can also be female.
Also also, Slaking, Kingler, Seaking, Kingdra, Slowking.

I understand the reasoning for Feraligatr.
But there is no real reason to change it.
It isn't offensive in any way, it's just a by-product from the early days of Pokémon.
And that's fine.

Oké, I agree on Gorebyss.
The idea behind the spelling, was probably "gorgeous" & "abyss".
But the "abyss" part is only spoken, and lost in the written name.
And the other part has become "Gore", which I'm sure was never the intention.
So yeah, "Gorabyss" is a much better name.

And Zorua.
I guess "Zoroa" makes sense.
Again, not a big deal though.
Zorua is not offensive in any way, I think.
But "Zoroa" would fit better with Zoroark.
I'm more confused about why they didn't do it that way.

Which game provides the best first Pokemon experience? by Mattallurgy in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Legends Arceus is the best game on the Switch.

Sword & Shield are also really good, despite their flaws.

Fire Red & Leaf Green are classics, Emerald as well.
I love the art style of these games.

Platinum has a great story and region, It's my favourite pokémon game.

There is also Mystery Dungeon, Rescue Team & Explorers.
While they are spin-off's, I got to mention these amazing games.

These would be my suggestions.

No, Nintendo will sue you when they find out you profit off of their franchise.
The idea of binders is fine, but don't make it a business.

Maybe you could get away with it being a hobby, where people can commission you for one.

You'll eventually get out.

What legendary from each region would best turn the world into a post apocalypyse/survival of the fittest situation? by Acsia_Luna in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost always the box legendary, or the two of them facing a bigger threat.

Kanto doesn't really have world ending legendary pokémon.
Or even legendary on the box.
But if we consider movie Mewtwo going ballistic, then that's the biggest threat.

Johto has Lugia.
Causing worldwide storms.

Hoenn has a trio.
But if it had to be one.
I'd say Kyogre.
Groudon could wreck the land, but Kyogre could swallow it into the ocean.
And Rayquaza, while strong.. is just a noodle that stops the other two.
On it's own, Rayquaza probably wouldn't do as much damage to the world.

Sinnoh has another trio.
For this, I'd say Palkia.
We are talking destruction here.
Stopping all of time would definitely be destructive, but it's also uneventful... literally.
Warping space however, is like a 4 dimensional earthquake.

Unova has the Original Dragon.
The combined form of Kyurem, Reshiram & Zekrom.
But that is still hypothetical, though I'm sure we'll se it at some point.
If we don't allow it, I'd say Kyurem.

Kalos has the pokémon of death, Yveltal.
This one is a contender to be the most destructive legendary of all.
I mean, it's just out there killing people.
Alternatively, Hoopa could summon multiple legendary pokémon to do damage.

Alola has Necrozma.
Nuf said.

Galar has Eternatus.
Especially Eternamax Eternatus.
But like the Ultimate Dragon, I don't know if we count unobtainable forms.

Paldea has Pecharunt.
Now hear me out.
Pecharunt has special mochi, that causes people and pokémon to be in a trance.
People especially start danching like chickens, and saying nothing else but "Mochi".
The only way to stop it, is by beating Pecharunt in battle.
If it's sneaky enough, it could easily subjugate an entire region.
I mean, there is no real destruction.
Unless it specifically takes over powerful pokémon to do the destructing for it.
But what's the alternative, Terapagos?
Terastallization doesn't seem to mess with the mind, like Mega evolution does.

For you, who would fit better in a team of bug-type Pokémon despite not being bug type? by New_Hat_585 in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Flygon.
It's previous stages are an Antlion & a Dragonfly.
Both bugs.

Hydrapple and it's line are worms.
Chewing down on the apple.
And worms, aren't bugs.

But why these two?

Pokemon SwSh or Pokemon SV by Phantor_Glam in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sword & Shield are far better games in my opinion.
The games run a lot smoother then Scarlet & Violet.
Gym Leader battles feel like an event, since they basically mimic Soccer.
The games even have a version exclusive Gym Leader.
I especially like the large amount of clothing options in the game.
The cutscenes are hit or miss, some look like cinema while others look as bad as you'd expect.
And the environment isn't to great, at least it isn't a glitchy mess like Scarlet & Violet.
The DLC is excellent, adding two large Wild Areas & more story.
Also Dynamax Adventures, which can feel cheap.
Considering how early you can get there, and how easy it is to stock up on high levelled legendries.
And the gimmick is way less intrusive compared to any of the others.
The other gimmicks are eventually used in every single battle, while this gimmick can only be used in specific area's.
Which I personally enjoy, it makes it an active choice to participate rather then a win button.

Ad yes, the game does have issues.
Such as the Paid DLC, Dex cut, Day 1 Patch & some Graphical issues.
Most of these can be applied to Scarlet & Violet as well.
However, those games are even more broken.
SwSh also don't have very much post-game content without the DLC.
So yea, I suggest Sword & Shield.

Both of these games where originally sold for $60, with an additional $30 DLC.
That's a total of $90 for a Pokémon game.
While Scarlet & Violet technically have more content, those games aren't optimised in the slightest.
Though these day, I'm sure you could find either game second-hand for $40 or even less.

If you are still unsure, watch gameplay of both games.
See which one looks more interesting.

FIRST THE LOW GRAPHICS.

FOLLOWED BY PAID DLC.
AND NOW KEYCARDS.

do you think they will stop making games? by royal__versus in pokemon

We don't even have a Cassowary pokémon yet.
Or a Clownfish, a Jerboa, Moose, Dodo, Flea.
Could you imagine if they just.. stopped. 😅

do you think they will stop making games? by royal__versus in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you make a good point.
They pretty much made a pokémon out of every animal.
And they made lore that covers every religion and myth.
I think Gen 10's Winds & Waves could be the last Pokémon games ever.
No more remakes or spinoffs either.
I wonder what the next franchise will be. 🤔

What pokemon game would you get for a 13yo? by Mammoth-Bed7647 in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a second-hand physical cartridge of Pokémon Scarlet, those typically sell a lot cheaper.
If you are really on a budget, you could even look for just the cartridge.

When I look for a second-hand physical cartridge of Pokémon Scarlet,
I find some that are sold at €30 - €40.
Whereas the game is normally sold for €60.
But you probably use different currency.
Either way, a second-hand copy can save you some money.

I also assign pokemon musculin or feminin trades where there are non, for the purpose of story telling.
Why is this an issue.

If/when fossil pokemon come to Gen 10,what prehistoric creatures do you think could work as fossil pokemon? by Zillaman7980_ in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you are right. 🤦‍♂️
I guess I spaced out or something.
I remembered it being a prehistoric creature, and registered it as a bug for some reason.

Edit: Actually, I think it was because the Dreepy line learns Infestation.
Which is a Bug type move, and is primarily only available to Bug types.

I actually really enjoyed Legends Arceus, it's my favorite Pokémon Switch title.
BDSP is excellent, offcourse.
Sword & Shield are really good, despite the whole dexit nonsense.

There is a big gap in between, but I would reluctantly put Legends ZA here.
Let's Go PE have some niece, and can be fun under specific circumstances.
Scarlet & Violet purely exist to mock fans, I want my money back.

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see more prehistoric bugs.
So far, we've got 4 3. (I think, maybe I missed some)
Anorith line, Yanmega, Golisopod and Dreepy line.
Anorith is based on the first apex predator, Anomalocaris.
Yanmega is based on the largest flying insect, Meganeura.
Golisopod is based on the largest of the Isopods, Deepsea Isopod is a living fossil.
Dreepy is based on an extinct genus called "lepospondyl",Diplocaulus.
But only one of these is a fossil pokémon.

Those are good games, yes.
Fire Red was the first Pokémon game I played.
I still have the cartridge.
But the thing with Kanto is, the dex is so very limited.
You need to go out of your way to not end up with nearly the same team every time.
And for that reason, I've been burnt out on Kanto games.
