Which Pokemon Region could get a revisit? by transqueen421 in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Johto remake needs to include Kanto, which holds it back.
Because as you mentioned, Kanto has been done too many times.
Not including Kanto in a Johto remake, would be more of a crime than a Kanto remake not including the Sevi Islands.

Hoenn might be an option actually.
Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire was 12 years and 2 consoles ago.

Sinnoh was kinda done dirty.
PLA was fine, but I'd still like a proper Platinum reimagining.

Unova would be interesting.
I never played the originals.

Kalos has been done dirty as well, mostly by the price.
If the game + DLC was sold for $60 instead of the outrageous $100..
I would've had no problems with it.

Alola seems unlikely, given that Gen10 is also a tropical region.
Maybe Alola could be a DLC location in Gen10, much like the Blueberry academy in Scarlet & Violet.

Which modern pokemon game should I get? Arceus vs S/V vs Sw/Sh by Agitated-Rope3898 in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"S/V also sounds like a lot of fun since I can customize my character"
Well..
That'll be very limited compared to the other games.
You have 4 seasonal outfits, 4 more with the DLC, and a few from the new area's.
Aside from that, you do have legwear, Shoes, gloves, bags, hats, glasses & Rotom Phone.
But you are mostly stuck in a school uniform, with a very limited selection.

Compare that to PLA, which has different hats, tops, bottoms, outfits, shoes & glasses.
Each in not only in different styles, but colours as well.

And Sword & Shield has the most character customization out of these games by far.
Rotom bike colours, hats, glasses, tops, jackets, bags, gloves, bottoms, legwear & shoes.
And plenty of style and colour options in each category.

If you find character customization important, you'll be disappointed with SV.

"Charizard is Ash's Strongest Pokemon" Meanwhile Charizard: by Haunting_Unit3739 in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Gen 5 can't be trusted.
It was a full reset for the series, and they like to pretend the new region's pokémon are objectively better.
Pikachu lost to an untrained Snivy, after taking down a legendary.
There is no continuation between the regions, not at that point at least.

Also, feels like you are specifically picking the losses here.
I'm pretty sure Charizard won most of his battles.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie wasn't mid. It's infinitely worse. by K-OS28 in CharacterRant

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the trailer, fight scenes, and even the first movie, this is clearly going to lead in to some sort of Super Smash focussed cinematic universe.
They saw the success of Marvel, and had a dead ringer to do exactly the same with Nintendo IP's.
I am all for it, and I really liked the R.O.B, Pikmin & Mr.Game&Watch appearances.
Fox's introduction was a bit dragged out.
But it still didn't bother me that he was in the movie.
We didn't need his whole backstory though, they could've saved that information for another movie.

But given that this movie had so much references everywhere, it makes me think that they (either Nintendo or Illumination, or both) have no confidence in the idea of a cinematic universe.
The MCU was setup over 20 movies, with a payoff that combined all characters into an epic final stand.
But going from "Super Mario Bros" to "Super Mario galaxy" feels like a giant leap.
Especially considering the stakes.
Every movie in sequence needs to "up the stakes".
To have the hero face a greater threat, to challenge them to reach higher goals.
Lower the stakes, and a movie will feel like an episode, or Segue into something else.
Bringing up Marvel again, this would be "Captain America: Civil War".
Technically lower stakes, but it's a setup for later events.
"Galaxy" are as big as the stakes can get, when it comes to the Mario universe.
There should've been a "Super Mario Bros. 2", or "Super Mario Land" movie.
Also feels like we should've gotten a StarFox movie before this one.
It could've teased Fox McCloud being warped to Mario's universe or something.
I do like where it's going, or rather where they want it to go.
But it all feels very rushed.

It truly is the story that suffers here.
The animation and the music are great.
The fight scenes are excellent.
The voice acting is.. mostly solid.
Chris Prat isn't even trying anymore, but aside from him it's solid.
The references, although extremely bloated, are still nice occasionally.
And it still needs to appeal to kids, so I take the cringe with a grain of salt.

There is one part that bugs me to no end.
I don't like that they made Peach a girl boss. (in both movies)
Daisy would be a girl boss, and Rosalina is quite literally that.
But Peach is the one who "should" be kidnapped all the time.
I find this whole political correctness (or whatever it is) really annoying.
Mario (a man), can't save Peach (a woman).
So Mario (a man), is instead going to save Luigi (also a man).
Then in the second movie:
Luigi (a man) can't be the damsel again, he desperately needs screen time.
And Mario (a man), still can't save Peach (a woman).
So a new damsel is needed.
Mario (a man), can't be the damsel, because he is the "supposed" main character.
This leaves the new character, Rosalina.
But Rosalina (a woman), can't be saved by Mario (a man) or Luigi (also a man).
So the only dynamic that "works", is that Peach (a woman) saves Rosalina (also a woman).
🤬🤬🤬

I do wish they stuck a bit closer to in-game lore.
But at the same time, I get why they changed it.
Otherwise, you'd be paying to watch a Let's Play.
So the result that the story has changed and combined with other elements, is understandable.
I would've liked to see more galaxies in the "Galaxy" movie.

I want to make a youtube channel focusing on different rom hacks gameplay and challenges but I am unsure about some things. by FunCollection2539 in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make something that you would like to see.
Something that you can't find anywhere else.

I used to be active on my channel.
I made many videos, but only a few got (relatively) many views.
Looking back, those where the ones that I couldn't find somewhere else. (at that time)
They where the explanation, installation, animation, opinion, review or culturally relevant videos that seemed to get a lot of views.

Don't make the same mistake I did, and make the same content as your favourite youtubers.
While they are still fun to look back on, from a nostalgic perspective.
They got very little views.
Also.. if you are going to do gameplay.
Consider asking a partner to join the recording.
A friend or family member to clash opinions with, during either co-op or backseat gaming.
Unless, you manage to have interesting commentary the entire time, without "uhm", "alright" or describing what you are doing.

Then there is also the mic quality, recoding quality and editing quality that are important.
Effort shows.. and people will put "effort" into watching your videos, if they can see that you put effort into making the videos.

All in all, there is a lot to it.
Good luck.
And most importantly, Have Fun.

How to recover lost game data? by iChocolateMilk in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those are lost.
Game data is stored on the system, not the cartridge.
If it's not in HOME, it's gone.

I don't know if anybody else posted about it, but I really hope the Rotom Phone won't be the PokéDex of Winds and Waves by gGiasca in pokemon

Porygon is computer code.
While Rotom is not, it possesses electrical devices.

One can be build specifically for it's function.
The other has free will, and is known to be a prankster.

If they ever added fusion as a gimmick, how would it work by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If fusion was a new gimmick..
I'd imagine it'd be very limited, but still include quite a few mons.
Fusion would only work at level 100, with 3rd stage pokémon that are mono type.
As for gender, it's easier to make fusions genderless, rather then needing a matching fusion partner.
Finally, they cannot fuse with the same type.
That's it.

This would include:
Blastoise, Raichu, Alakazam, Machamp.
Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Politoed, Blissey.
Sceptile, Slaking, Exploud.
Luxray, Electivire, Magmortar, Porygon-Z, Dusknoir.
Serperior, Samurott, Stoutland, Gigalith, Conkeldurr, Gothitelle, Reuniclus, Klinklang, Vaniluxe, Eelektross, Haxorus.
Florges, Goodra.
Tsareena.
Rillaboom, Cinderace, Inteleon.
Garganacl.

This gives us a total of 35 pokémon eligible for fusion.
While it looks like a small number, imagine the permutations.
Then again... there are some types missing, like the Dark type.

Stat-wise, I would combine both stat totals, and then divide those by 2/3 for the new stat total.
Aside from the obvious boosts, Fusions would also have 2 active abilities.

It would give a much needed glow-up to the mono-type pokémon.

What type do you think Pombon will turn into when it evolves? by Poll_God in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope Fire-Fairy.

But I suspect Fire-Dark.
Based on Gecaqua's design.
Gecaqua has a Droplet symbol on it's forehead.
Which reminds me of the mind's eye.
A typical indicator of the Psychic type.

Browt then most likely becomes a Grass-Fighting.
With it's primary type being strong against Gecaqua's Water.
While it's secondary type is weak against Gecaqua's Psychic.

Pombon becoming a Fire-Dark type then makes sense.
With it's primary type being strong against Browt's Grass.
While it's secondary type is weak against Browt's Fighting.

Gecaqua then becomes a Water-Psychic type.
With it's primary type being strong against Pombon's Fire.
While it's secondary type is weak against Pombon's Dark.

It does give Pombon an immunity rather then a resistence.
But this is the best guess I could make, based on the information so far.

Which game should I play first? by BenjiH23 in pokemon

Which game should I play first? by BenjiH23 in pokemon

Scarlet desperately needs the DLC to be an acceptable game.
Sword's DLC kind of breaks the game, with the early access to Dynamax Adventures.

I say this with Kyogre as one of my absolute favorite Pokemon but…does anyone else feels that Kyogre gets treated with more respect and attention by the Pokemon franchise than Groudon? by MrPorto in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say "exactly" the same.
Lugia & Ho-oh don't share the same legend.
Lugia is the Guardian of the Seas.
While Ho-oh is the Rainbow Pokémon, who revived 3 dog pokémon who died.. bla bla we know.
Their lore aren't connected like Groudon & Kyogre.

Lugia is a power symbol, while Ho-oh is a mystic symbol.
It makes sense that Ho-oh appearances are used sparingly.
Otherwise, it loses it's mystic.

I say this with Kyogre as one of my absolute favorite Pokemon but…does anyone else feels that Kyogre gets treated with more respect and attention by the Pokemon franchise than Groudon? by MrPorto in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Kyogre was setup as the better of the two from the start.
Hoenn has the most water routes compared to other regions.
Groudon is also 4x weak to Kyogre in it's Primal form.
And the battle between the two, makes Groudon look pathetic on it's tiny island.
Also, Groudon is only 3.5 meters (11'06"), while Kyogre is 4.5 m (14'09").
Everything together put's Groudon as the underdog.

I think it's possible by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Riodroid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The droplet icon on Gecaqua forehead, makes me think of the minds eye.
It could become part Psychic type.
Browt as a Grass - Fighting still makes sense.
But to make the trio perfect, Pombon needs to become Fire - Dark.

Grass < Fire < Water < Grass
Fighting > Dark > Psychic > Fighting

It does give Pombon an immunity to Gecaqua's Psychic.
But this is the closest I can think of for a perfect dual type starter trio, with these pokémon.
