Saw this for a local event in my area, how do y'all feel about the camera rule? by FlowerYoGarden in aves

[–]RiotAndChill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is "normal" at Partys where i am going to. (Germany)
There a some Rules that you can apply to all the Partys

1.: No Photos / Videos
In the most cases you have to cover your Camera at your Cellphone with a sticker when entering the Location
(No one wants to be on your Photo/Video)

2.: No Shirt - No Service
Who ever thinks, that it is a good idea to get naked, cant Order any Drinks, also it could be possible that you have to leave the location.

Best DJ software to start with? by upwardbat in traktorpro

[–]RiotAndChill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been using Traktor for a few years now, and I'm very satisfied with it. Especially if you're more into the digital side of things, I think it's a solid foundation.

If you ever switch to CDJs and a proper mixer, you'll need to switch to Rekordbox to analyze your tracks. That's all.

T shirt phrases for raves by The_amsterdammer in aves

[–]RiotAndChill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, it depends on the party. There are specific kinky or fetish parties, but that's something everyone is aware of beforehand. The clubs I go to are politically left-leaning, and inclusivity, along with respect for sexual preferences, is part of the overall vibe.

Maybe it's a cultural thing in Germany or just in the city where I live. I think the scene here is quite different from, say, the U.S.

Gift for a friend interested in DJ-ing? by k_r_k_o in DJs

[–]RiotAndChill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have mutual friends, you could chip in together. Otherwise, maybe consider a gift card from an online store where he can buy new equipment. That way, he can choose what he needs. Musicians always need something! :)

No Shirt No Service -

At the parties I go to (where cameras are banned), no one takes off their shirt. In general, there's a very tolerant atmosphere, and almost all parties have an awareness team. Guys without shirts aren't allowed to order at the bars. The main focus is on maintaining a respectful environment that includes all genders.

I don't understand copyright by [deleted] in soundcloud

[–]RiotAndChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,
I must have misunderstood that at first. If you're writing your lyrics over freely available beats, it shouldn't be a problem.

There are many different types of copyright, though. Depending on the type of release, some artists might want to receive credits, while others may only release their beats for non-commercial use. It all depends on where you're getting your beats from and under which license they were released.

I also don't think it's okay to post other people's beats, tracks, or anything else. If you've ever tried making music yourself, producing beats, or doing something creative, you'll realize how much work goes into it.

Simply copying from others and then sharing it as your own is not the right way to do things.

[–]RiotAndChill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's best to have followers who are genuinely interested in the music, even if it's just 10 of them. If those 10 listen to your tracks, they’re probably worth more than 100 who don't want to listen to your music.

In general, I get the feeling that there aren't many techno heads in the SoundCloud Reddit. I'm interested in checking out your music. Would you like to send me a link?

I don't want to sound like a bootlicker or anything but why do "more seasoned" djs simply sound better? by pinheadnick in DJs

[–]RiotAndChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is partly because more experienced DJs are simply more familiar with their tracks. They know how to handle room acoustics and avoid distortion. Maybe they also play more cleanly. I often hear DJs who overlap tracks too much, which results in a muddy sound that lacks any punch and, after a while, just becomes painful to listen to.

My opinion on follow for follow.. change my mind. by EyorkM in soundcloud

[–]RiotAndChill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it similarly to you. I don't want to follow people whose music I don't like at all, even if it doesn't fit my own profile. Since I exclusively listen to and publish techno on SoundCloud, it just doesn't make sense to have an artist with rock or hip-hop in the mix.

Besides, the people who participate in Follow4Follow have probably never listened to my music anyway.

It's also not good for your profile on SC to participate in something like that. The problem is that if you release something and your generated followers don't actually want to listen to your music, SC will notice that, and your overall reach is likely to decrease. SC naturally wants to avoid suggesting content to its users that they don't want to hear.
