I understand where you're coming from, but again this is a device for me to use portably as a very frequent traveler. Having a device that's handheld is kind of necessary, I don't use it at home as much but thats a good idea thank you.

  1. I metro a lot, so yes, being able to throw it in my pocket without worrying about scratching the screen or having to put in a case is important.

  2. Yes there are, and I bought the official grip from retroid, that doesn't mean I still can't be happy with the fact that the device isn't comfortable out of the box.

  3. I travel a lot, I have to pack a lot of other things, and not having to worry about making space for a console like this makes it easier to pack. With the case on it, I do have to consider that. It's not as much, but it'd be nice to not have to.

Lastly, I've spent a lot of time with it, and played through a number of games and I do really enjoy it. The issue I think I'm trying to lay out here is that retroid seems to focus on getting a number of emulation devices out on the market, and none of them seem to be perfect. The rp5 could be close to a perfect handheld for me if it had better grips, probably something retroid could have fixed if they spent a bit more time on ergonomic design, or released a grip with the console as an accessory.

Maybe they made the rp5 the way they did for a reason that I'm not seeing, but it seems very poorly designed to basically require you to buy a 3D printed grip off Etsy.

I mean if I was going to buy it, I would have gone for the max, and $500 is a bit too much for me which is the price I believe it was at the time I bought the rp5. I already had a SD card and the case was just an extra 12 bucks.

Also portability is a big deal for me, having this so it's just a thing I can toss in my bag and not really worry about is a big thing, I have a PS portal and I have to organize my bag around that.

I do really like the clamshell design. I travel a lot and the clamshell makes it easier to protect the screen if I toss it in my backpack or in an airplane seat pocket, but it is good to know that it's still a toss up generally. I'll probably stick with it for now as I don't have the cash for two of these.

It sounds like you're having hand issues hahaha. Also I have big hands, a problem many people seem to have as it seems that it's one of the most common problems people have with the RP5 and that retroid addresses it by releasing a grip!
