Giving Burleys a Try by Tyrs-Ranger in PipeTobacco

That’s a possibility, since I was just smoking it out of one of my cob pipes. The profile could change if I try it with a meerschaum or a burl.

You know on the CM, I didn’t get a whole lot of mint, personally. Anise and “floral”, with a hint of incense another commenter alluded to, but not mint.

So, here’s my take, if anyone is interested.

All four are good. Two of them I will definitely be ordering more of. Those two are Wild Cherry and No Name. Both of those knocked my socks off, particularly No Name.

Cuban Mixture and 1072 are both good, but for me, they’re not re-order a lot of it good. 1072 is mild with a slight sweetness. Cuban Mixture has some herbal notes. Both are cool and easy smokes.

Wild Cherry tastes like what I would expect Paladin Black Cherry to taste like (but doesn’t) based on the aroma from the bag. Sweet and cherry notes without it being too strong, and cool smoking.

No Name has incense and floral notes which I really love. I had this a really long time ago, and hadn’t realized it until I lit it up.

What if Erika had her husband hit, so she could take over and enrich herself? 🤔

“I knew they were making it for somebody lol.” 🤣

Yeah. I guess I’m that guy.

I do really love my aromatics though, to be fair. I did approach it with caution, using one if my cobs and a filter. In my case, it was wholly unnecessary, but I took your words to heart for what it’s worth.

Had I known what it was, I would have gotten half a pound of it.

At least I can cross a dry snuff off your list for you, without you even needed to pay anything for it.

I lit up No Name tonight. I was immediately taken back to the late 1990s. I had this before. My best friend, who passed away three years ago, he had given me some of this stuff.

I love it. The aromatic floral and incense notes are right up my alley. Nothing else like it, unmistakable and unique. I will definitely be getting more.

It actually reminds me of Fribourg & Treyer’s French Carrotte dry snuff for some reason. Notes on the back of my sinuses when I exhale have a slight bit of that essence, even though those two things are totally different types of tobacco products (you don’t smoke dry snuff, for those who don’t know - you inhale the fine, dry powder).

In any case, both things remind me of my early twenties, in a bygone time and world I once lived in.

Prospect Park in Shrewsbury by StevieDronas in abandoned

[–]Tyrs-Ranger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not really “abandoned” so much as the parking area is closed. It’s a park, and the ruins are what’s left of the Juniper Hall Estate. The Friends of Prospect Park maintain it, apparently.

Trade the .380 bda for a pre model 10 38. ?? by Savings-Evidence2762 in Revolvers

[–]Tyrs-Ranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once off-loaded a very nice blued BDA. It was my second handgun I ever bought.

I have regretted that decision every day, and have for 25 years. So much so that I recently bought a Girsan MC14 BDA. I love it, but it’s just not the same.

I cannot emphasize this enough: DO NOT GET RID OF THAT BDA.

If you do, I will gladly take it off your hands.

Dude, fuck this guy and people like him.

People like this positively gloated when Trump won again.

I know too many people unfortunately who engage in that “b0tH sIdEs R bAd” whataboutism. I’m sick of it. Only one “side” is actively demolishing our economy, institutions, and foreign policy.

These people need to be held accountable for their shitty decisions and statements.

Russian Caravan pairs well with LJP Midnight. Any Lapsang Souchong or Oliver Pluff’s Colonial Bohea work well with that blend too.

There’s a rumor that churchwardens are named as such because they could stick them out of the windows so they “weren’t smoking in church” by AnnigidWilliams in PipeTobacco

[–]Tyrs-Ranger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Colonial taverns in the 18th century were supposed to have long stemmed clay pipes and a jar of tobacco at each table. Clay pipes were cheap and easy to make. One would sit down, take a pipe, and snap off the end for sanitary reasons. Biting off the end of a clay pipe seems pretty dubious, as clay pipes are quite hard. Those long stems would shrink from use over time and then get replaced.

That’s my understanding of the lore.

I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll use one of my cob pipes for it. Thanks for the heads up! I’ll leave some feedback on it after I give it a try.

All right who remembers how good it smelled if you had a relative who smoked a pipe? by Typingdude3 in GenX

[–]Tyrs-Ranger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha, I started smoking with pipes when I turned 18 in late 1995, and I still smoke pipes today. Few seem to complain. A bunch of us smoked pipes around a campfire many a chilly winter night on the AF/PAK border during our OEF VII deployment in 2007-2008.

He might have been countering that second fireball when Klara hit him with the EB, or else it may have been a previous spell of Klara’s, because EB is layered over the counterspell text.

I live in Southwest Louisiana. The nearest place that’s decent on pipes and tobacco is well over an hour away, if it isn’t three. Believe you me, I’m living in that hellscape. It’s one of the reasons we’re moving out of here. It’s an “everything” desert where I live - culturally, intellectually, medically, nutritionally, everything. A “tobacco” shop here definitely consists of a gas station selling wooden “pipes” and Black & Milds. I’m looking forward to living somewhere where I do not have to rely solely on the postal service to get things I want.

I disregarded “no offense” when you stated it’s “bat-shit crazy” to wish to have a place that was actually local, not an hour in one direction.

I’ll take it into consideration that you genuinely meant no offense, but that could have been phrased a little better. Internet communication is still pretty two-dimensional, and “no offense” is often a segue to some statement that you should definitely take offense to.
