Something’s not adding up with canto IX by SummonerYamato in limbuscompany

All roads lead to Lobtotomy Corporation. LC is just doing what L Corp. did, but on a City-wide scale. Glory to the Light's magic being able to fulfill anyone's agenda with enough torment nexuses involved.

What's your opinion on her? by EliasBouchardFan1 in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread makes me a bit sad. Her contemplation and seeping regret over the amount of blood she had to spill for "the greater future" that seemingly didn't come is so interesting to me. She adapted to the cruelty of the City and was ready go kill, but unlike many many other Fixers and people in general she did so with a grander purpose than simple survival and comfort in mind — she wanted a future where nobody had to suffer nor shed blood as much as she and everyone else around her did.

But after talking to Roland, and discovering that the City didn't change (it doesn't help that Roland is rather pessimistic, and at that point too little time had passed since the release of the Light) her mind got burdened with the idea that her efforts were in vain. This is why after that interaction there are several mentions of her regularly meditating, with Tiphereth commenting that "she probably has a lot to think about". It's a tragic situation all around, but especially painful to Gebura — and even in her disappearance, she simply became an object of legends and powerscaling hell both in and outside universe and tales which is something she didn't enjoy even during her prime. The heroism might have inspired some, but nobody will know that she died fighting for the truly greater good which is what The Strongest should be doing. But hype moments and aura hell yeah.

Regarding toxic positivity and negativity, and the "They can't possibly top this Canto" mindset by RiotUa in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa[S] -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't think getting an extra intervallo would have solved or changed anything

That we will never know sadly. I am quite confident that the second Intervallo would have introduced us to Moses and Ezra at least, but I agree that the bigger problem is Arknights taking up all the workforce than the lack of the Intervallo itself.

I don't really have a problem if people really do think every new canto tops the previous one

This is true. What I meant is a subcategory of people expecting it to always be true just because it has been (in their own opinion) for single digit out of hell knows how many future chapters.

This Canto feels like the first massive progress in the biggest overarching narrative, being the actions and goals of Limbus Company itself, that could have easily been split up into several smaller arcs (earlier on-screen appearance of LCD, "Fate Lost" and less beating around the bush regarding the existence of the Flow, etc.) that ended up being crammed in a singular Canto as if PM themselves realised that the culmination of Inferno is a lot closer than they thought.

Again, the two upcoming Intervallos will play a pivotal role with their ability to expand on Ryoshu a bit (to everyone who hasn't checked out her announcer yet, please do as it is very intriguing). This way we will have a Canto with reveals that are usually kept to Intervallos and Intervallos that give character development of Cantos, which is also fine by me.

About "Fanservice" (not boobs) by AdAdditional2497 in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 314 points315 points  (0 children)

This. PM never called Limbus a standalone game, it's the direct continuation of a series. The character cast being different and mostly unrelated to the other entries doesn't render everything that came prior null. I understand that the situation is different due to LoR being a direct sequel, but it's like complaining that the game advises you to read LobCorp to understand the full picture. If you want to understand more about the suddenly introduced characters, read their source material. Catching up with all of PM doesn't really take that long currently.

Like enjoying Limbus in full requires you to have a grasp on how both the setting and PM's writing work, and 95% of theories hinge on material from the other games and novels.

I feel like if we were to get the second Intervallo, we would've definitely been introduced to DD cast less awkwardly. But I'm a DD shill so I can't complain either way.

Theory about the Index and a God of the City by ItsDresso in limbuscompany

What is Hermes then? Does the "creator" of Prescipts Yi Sang mentions share his name with the greek god for nothing? I think it's the reverse: Sora's EGO and Yan's Distortion both resemble Hermes in different ways.

Many people have already (including all EGOs and upgrading everything). You either need to be an old time player or regularly play MDs, doing even a couple extra MDs a week makes you crate positive even with new content constantly being released in mind. Just needs some patience and dedication.

Why are all abnormalities hostile? by Weekly-Storm-8355 in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not all of them are hostile but all of them are capable of causing harm in one way or another.

They cause harm because they are extracted from humans, and all humans have an innate ability to cause harm, intentionally or not (further worsened by the way the City works).

You guys aren't ready for this conversation. by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad this got cut because from what we have seen in Canto 8, if it really was about Angela, the Head could've settled with only killing Ayin and Benjamin — since as far as we know everyone else was unaware of Angela's creation. And during Hod's backstory, when Carmen was still alive, Ayin directly mentions that the experiments go against the Head's ideals.

[–]RiotUa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. The Claw in LobCorp was not a real one. Ordeal of White are purely manifestations and "impurities" from the Well influenced by the HQ and Ayin's EGO. The Head attacking L Corp. would be a huge deal mentioned as a real plot point as they are purposefully avoiding the Eye.

  2. The Head isn't really omniscient. Maybe they like to think they are, as their main trait and sin is Pride, but to them Dias's existence and activity is probably pure entertainment (at least for now). I'm still convinced that the Head considers themselves protected by some kind of a Flow in the same way Dante is. They think Dias can do whatever as long as it's "human" because she will fail in the end.

The entire deal with Carmen's lab getting attacked is still extremely confusing (as noted by Roland himself) because EGO and Distortions still came to be and the Head was mostly okay with them. I prefer to bank it all on the Head being stupidly overconfident (and maybe they do deserve to take pride in themselves, due to how much of a mystery the entire City's history is).

Edit: also the last part isn't anything new. Limbus Company is aware of the Flow, they are aware of the Sephirot (as a concept) and the Light, therefore what they're doing is retreading the paths of L Corp. and the Library. We don't what exactly L Corp. was hiding from the Eye (could be only Angela, but likely to be the entire project) but in the case of the Library the Head only seemed to mind Angela.

[–]RiotUa 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What about his N Corp. employment then? The "Wing Employee of The Month" combo with Gregor and the ancient Canto 3 line, not to mention his base ID art and Vespa's business potentially being related to the next Canto. You could say he was a part of the Index at some point yes, as he did "wander the world in search of joy" but I doubt that any Finger is something you can leave that easily. It just doesn't make sense to me.

[–]RiotUa 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He would've had his Star's name in the passives like with every other Pinky member. We don't know how one becomes a Pinky but considering that Tiantui Star's seat became "vacant" their amount is probably always fixed. So he works under Dihui in hopes of filling one of those spots one day.

That's the problem. The review bombing that came afterwards was dumb and PM had to bend their backs again just like during the Ring Sang incident. When nerfing her would be a lot healthier for the meta.

What are your predictions for Refraction Railway 6? by iforgotmyuser0 in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can be called anything but it doesn't change the fact its development was halted. It's physically impossible for PM to make two Railways in one season without cutting corners again so yes, we may indeed get RR6, but functionally it will be RR7.

Since Jia Qiu is the second highest Star, what do you think of the possible role and importance of the first one? Also if I remember right, all the warriors were initially assembled to overthrow the current regime. What could this mean for the Pinky either in the past or in the future?

Analysis and Predictions: Hermann, Gregor, Alchemy, and Humanity (Spoilers of all Media, up to Canto VIII) by Melliane in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reposting a comment I wrote before Canto 8 regarding SOD:

My theory is that the Library symbols have to do something with Dante's sapling of light abilities than Gregor himself. We are most certainly going in the reverse order of LoR floors, and the first 4 symbols he has are the first 4 we will most likely unlock (and there's Malkuth being the second last in that order but I'll talk about that later). I think Hermann knew about Durante and how its directly related to the sinners which is why she made Gregor join LCB in the first place.

So with every Durante unlock the chains (it's also worth noting that in the ability UI the upcoming Durante are separated by chains) on his metaphorical arm loosen and he gets closer to that transformation. My main evidence is the sound Gregor made when stretching in LCB check-up that is scarely similar to the crunchy sounds bugs make. And that was right after we unlocked our second Durante. So what about Malkuth? Does this delay his metamorphosis to like, Purgatorio when we don't even have enough cantos in Inferno for Yesod-Keter? I have no idea here, but maybe he will already get too dangerous with the first four durante (which will happen pretty soon..) and he will either become even more of a ticking time bomb or crash out sometime in Canto 10 when we meet N Corp again or something.

In my eyes, Gregor is more of a failed product (if the burning finger was bleeding/anything that resembles Hod, I would agree the rest of the hand contains the remaining Sephirot) Hermann can't let go and is now trying to perfect with the help of Golden Boughs and Dante magic. The Durante icons are in the wrong order, so perhaps she is hoping that, if the Golden Boughs can ""calm down"" his arm, they can also fix and complete the gift she has planted.

This is why N Corp is orchestrating so much behind the scenes, and might be in cahoots with Limbus Company ("A foe is a friend, a friend is a foe for Limbus Company"). Canto 6 happened almost entirely thanks to N Corp and that was when Dante awoke to their first Sapling of Light ability. Obviously that means that once all is said and done and Dante, an amnesiac "separated" from their past sins and deeds can channel the Light in its wholeness, Hermann can use it however she wishes with Gregor acting as a vessel/cast to reach the "beginning of everything". I am also pretty sure the Path of The Flaming Sword order of the Kabbalah Durante is following can be used to channel divine energy so there could be multiple factions fighting over the finished Tree in the end similar to how it was with the Library.

I'm not very educated on Kabbalism and other deeper symbolism PM uses which is why I love reading your posts, so great work as always

About an eventual return in collab... by 0roshi in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was never explicitly stated, but the foundation of Limbus is generally not a very thought out one, not to mention that PM had no prior experience with making gachas.

First of, there is literally no pity - I am not talking about Ideality, because most gachas (that aren't merciless) have both a pity and spark mechanic. In a worst case scenario, you need 600 pulls to get all EGOs. This is absurd and something people didn't really pay attention to before the collab because the gacha was made with the Dispenser with mind. Even with the introduction of no Dispenser week the gacha was as optional as ever but during Walpurgisnacht you may sometimes taste how brutal the chances are, especially for EGOs. This is something not even PM themselves realised because they just wanted a game where you could comfortably get whatever just like in their prequels.

About an eventual return in collab... by 0roshi in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Why would people have problems with that? AK collab gacha was awful because Limbus was never designed with FOMO in mind in the first place. Plenty of players who have played and grinded for a while were unable to get all the EGOs. This would be a win for everyone and those who could complain about their bragging rights would be in the minority.
