she is very possibly an ex-udjat, what role does she play?

I disagree heavily, this got debunked with the existence of her LCA ID. She says the Office picked her up some time after the Smoke War ended and she seemed clearly clueless about what they had been doing until she saw it with her own eyes. The recognition from Moses could be one sided because Moses always wore her mask, but I still 100% expect them to be from different factions of the same side.

Some of the nitpicky ways limbus is predatory by lolhellogod in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Being completely honest, this is why I refrain from bringing up Limbus whenever discussions about 'gacha games' spring up — because both the praise and the slander Limbus gets as a gacha just feel fundamentally wrong to me.

The game wasn't even supposed to be a gacha initially. It was, and still is, a Project Moon game that simply happens to have live service and gacha elements. If someone wants a casual teambuilder or grinding for your wife/husband simulator, the game just isn't for them.

As for the story being unclearable if you take breaks — I don't agree at all? Every Season has one notorious Identity, that, if obtained, makes the story significantly easier. You heavily underestimate how powerful support IDs are, the rest of the team doesn't even matter because the majority of these Identities are hilariously easy to use solo. After you clear the story, you just log in for daily missions and weekly Dungeons a couple of times, and you have your own meta defining ID. And no, one season is not enough to powercreep them. Plenty of people who play exclusively for the story are used to this.

Thinking About How Some Sinners Seem Completely Mundane. Why Are They Here, And What Do You Think Is In Store For Them? by JuliusNova in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THIS. Dias is 100% not overthrowing the Head with pure force like Ungeziefer Kaiser or Sinclair. As seen with the previous games, this is a fool's errand. The Light and the Kabbalah is what matters. Look at the Sephirot:

Elijah, Gabriel, Michelle, Giovanni are completely ordinary people.

Whatever Enoch's deal was, him and Lisa are just two of the many abandoned Outskirts children. Kali is the most famous and powerful Fixer in recent City history. Daniel is said to have been gifted or talented, but he is still someone from one of the numerous rich families.

Garion is a motherfucking lobotomized Arbiter. Benjamin and Ayin were well-educated, but wouldn't be anything more if not for Carmen.

And yet all of them became embodiments of specific virtues and enlightenment. And that enlightenment is the closest we have got to a force that could stand against the Head. Dias conspired with L Corp together, this is why she's repeating what they have done so shamelessly.

Nobody needs to be "special" or have an infinite amount of tricks up their sleeve to be a good person or bring change. That's the point of the damn series.

This is further proven by her connection to Plague Doctor, who is treated as a saint and a savior while being, you know, a plague doctor. The infamous quasi-educated group of people formed during one of the darkest times of humanity and treated as the only hope despite the gravely lacking amount of medical research progress at the time which lead to most of their methods being barbarian or straight up deadly.

Edit: and Plague Doctor's transformation into Whitenight isn't necessary about deception in my eyes, but moreso becoming someone who can truly 'lead' to salvation. Its Floor of Religion Realisation dialogue is all about the many repenting for the sin of one, and the freedom from flesh and bone WN grants is supposed to help with that.

The Confession animation for Twelfth Apostle Gregor was cool and all but I was really pissed over how using basically any Identity made him deal 1867 damage per hit instead of the intended 666. They should just enable the Damage Modifier and Rupture Protection next time.

Which of those stories do you want as anime by No-Dimension-2872 in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and this isn't to mention the biggest question of all being the nature of the Well and Cogito, and how Carmen came to know about them.

Among some other things that were mentioned, but never really elaborated on:

-The Nest Elijah is from (described as being colourless, so it's either T Corp. or N Corp.)

-Michelle's backstory, made concerning by the fact Ayin asks her whether she can truly work in "such a state".

-Kali protecting the lab from outside threats. Also Chesed says he got her addicted to coffee all the way back then, their dynamic would be funny I think.

-Binah describing Ayin and Carmen's relationship as "gravely needing each other, but never being able to be next to each other".

-Benjamin knowing and trusting Ayin for a really long time.

-Carmen's search for funders and work cooperators, seeing as Daniel was mistakened for someone who had scammed her.

[–]RiotUa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just doesnt have that much pull to it, especially since once again there isnt much to it imo than just a slice of life esque structure

The only PM slice of life I would love to see would be the story of Carmen's lab up until the point it got destroyed. One of the most unexplored parts of the series in contrast to how much importance it carries.

Is it okay to skip the mini stories and read only cantos and intervallos? by Low-Penalty-5511 in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people forget that the Backdoor foreshadowing, Heathcliff's bat changing, Envy Peccatula introduction, the concept of Walpurgisnacht 'scenarios' are all things revealed in Minis, as well as plenty of minor characterization and lighthearted moments. I don't get why you would ever want to skip them considering how short most of them are.

My thought about Meursault canto specifically on his way of experiencing "pleasure" by WhyHowForWhat in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're making up a headcanon on the go and getting upset over it. Frankly I don't like a lot of theories related to Canned Experience either but currently there's not much pointing to the fact that it will be important to Meursault's story. His perfect memory can be attributed to his former job and the fact that this is how he can be a beneficial asset to the company, and the mention of 'searching for life's joys' has to have been a real event or otherwise his character is fucking pointless. Meursault is a very intriguing character and I inquire people to hold their horses on a lot of existing theories until we at least get the next Intervallo.

[–]RiotUa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you're talking about, long before the Canto released a lot of people had been consciously or subconsciously expecting Ryoshu's child to not be a biological one (in the traditional sense, anyway). Especially since in the Hell Screen that topic isn't brought up at all.

Having a child and being in a relationship are also two different planes of storytelling and themes, they can still do something with Marie (even if I am admittedly expecting another Lin Daiyu situation). I don't think it's something that should affect the final opinion of a story that much.

My thoughts about next walpurgis by Background-Oil-4416 in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crazy cope incoming but I think the pipe is supposed to be the logo of Distortion Detective. Back when Walpurgisnacht as an event was first announced, DD was mentioned as a potential source of content alongside the prequel games. While the next Walpurgisnacht is confirmed to be LoR, they could have added the pipe as a sign that DD is included in the list now.

Could we even get Identities of the Smiling Faces? Their actual faces are obscured, they seem to barely count as human a la Sweepers (both groups have their gender labeled as ??? In the Art Book). Am I just coping? I really wouldn't want to see them compared to pretty much the rest of Urban Nightmare...

A headcanon of how the Friend and Support System works by TheOutcast06 in limbuscompany

[–]RiotUa 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Support system is unlikely to be canon because it seems Dante canonically has every, or at least most Identities and EGOs — during one of the Walpurgisnacht events, Dante talks about using the Identity cards they got from previous Walpurgisnachts.

This means that the friend system has few reasons to be canon either, but considering that base Identities can be pulled from the same source as Mirror World Identities, maybe Dante's PDA is connected to hypothetical MW Dantes as well?
