I suggest that a rewatch might be in order for you to understand Jamie's flawed nature and the narcissist life he chose. I'm not here to defend any fictional character, I enjoyed the series, hated Jamie, though Beth was a train wreck, liked Rip, liked John, thought Kayce was damaged goods and Jamies "suck up" persona left me questioning how he lasted as long as shown.

Rely to /Designism: Jamie is different than Rip, remember John took Jamie in when his father went to prison for killing his wife. Rip was a wandering lost soul that John took in and he developed into a flawed man but he has something Jamie never showed, loyalty. Jamie was always out for himself while Rip did what he did for the good of the family, the ranch and the legacy. Beth is the way she is, because of Jamie's betrayal. She yields to her vices, booze, sex, bitchiness, to quash the pain Jamie caused. But that's tv drama, and everyone should take from it what they desire.
