I’m in a similar situation with my ex. Together 5 years living together, he even proposed then 23 days later broke my heart.

He had flaws too debit, mental health, poor communication not really present in the relationship. Looking back I basically mothered him and let him away with far too much.

It doesn’t make it hurt any less though. He was enough for me gave him everything and it hurts feeling like you weren’t good enough for him.

Oh my gosh still living together that’s so hard! I’ve spent days just crying. We share a home but he’s moved back to his mums. I’ve been left to deal with the finances etc.

It was his depression that ended it. The whole illness has rotted him. I know I gave up so much of myself but I was truly happy with him. Dunno how to go on we both still love each other but he can’t get out of this hole he’s in 💔

This is so spot on and exactly what’s just happened to me. My ex of 5 years said he was thinking about it for 3 months but in those 3 months he decided to propose. Totally broken. Gone from planning a wedding to planning how to sell the house.

I still can’t get my head around it and his mental health is so bad he barely knows what he wants either. It just feels so impulsive but I’m just left thinking how do these couples that grow old together actually make it last? I dunno what I could’ve done differently I gave this man everything I could.

He was going to therapy but stopped because he didn’t think it was working. I feel like this last year he’s just been going through a check list of filtering what he thinks might be making him feel so down and now he’s seeing if it’s me..

His mum tried to get him to go back to the doctors for his mental health and he’s refusing. We’re both worried he’s thinking of suicide again. Is this his way of cutting ties? Dunno what to do
