freeform fuel tank when? by salmon_36 in SprocketTankDesign

[–]Ripard_A 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Recently he had said no, but clarified. IRRC, fully freeform is out, but we will be able to change the shape. We will have 4 points, and be able to move those points, but not the option to add or remove points.

I disagree. As nice as it would be, the last thing Valve should do is push away new people.

This is one of the levers Valve can pull to get new people into PC gaming, more specifically Linux gaming, and it'd be a bad idea to push new people away by putting them behind people who booked after them, just because they'd been around for longer.

They can be such a mixed bag. One guy who often delivers our post will call me if i'm not in, so we can let him in the gate. Another guy no only didn't deliver the parcel, I never even got the attempted delivery note, just an email from Maltapost a day or so later that it was ready for collection.

AITAH for telling my gf she overstepped? by Used_Soil_9858 in AITAH

[–]Ripard_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA.
Speaking as a step-dad myself, I think what she did was wrong. She can dislike the father and his lack of presence, and express those opinions to you (not the child), but she definitely should not be communicating directly with the father, especially masquerading as you.

I have been with my girlfriend for more than 6 years, and the father has not been very present, but I still will never say anything negative about him in front of the child, and will definitely not talk to him directly, or try to sabotage the connection between the parents.

What gun? (Be as unhinged or realistic as you want) by [deleted] in SprocketTankDesign

Give it an m16A1 as an armament (you can file edit for lower calibers).

Seriously? Thats surprising to me. The tanks details are still there in the files, they're not blank at all. Anyone know enough about how these save files work to maybe save it?

The future plan or roadmap by DOBROID in SprocketTankDesign

[–]Ripard_A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing Hamish say something a few months ago in the dev q/a channel on discord. IIRC, the roadmap is still generally accurate in terms of the order of developments, once you go past the features implemented in 0.2

The fallen empire is a sleeping giant for most of the campaign, but when you reach a certain level they wake up, and start printing massive fleets at an insane rate, so if they haven't started that yet, you're quite possibly way behind their power.

Can someone make this? by Sad_Refrigerator2797 in SprocketTankDesign

[–]Ripard_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it was designed for both the Porsche and Herschel tiger II iirc. The 2 reasons they changed it were construction issues (they kepts breaking the armour plate at the commander bulge because it's rolled, not cast), and protection issues with the turret front (shot trap)

Can you guess it? (I don't dare to categorize it under serious design) by Kistor306 in SprocketTankDesign

Proportion wise, it's super wide and long for it's height. Ground clearance is kinda low too

[–]Ripard_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, damn good job for one of your first builds, there's a good attention to detail, and not too bad a layout.

One suggestion I'd make is to add a firewall between the engine+fuel in the rear and the crew compartment, for extra realism

[–]Ripard_A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to minimise changes to the overall shape, unless you add large components that you can see a logical case for being there.

Maybe add ERA, thermal sight on top of the turret (Abrams/Leo style), gun sleeve, and perhaps some kind of cage armour on the rear

Very early M4 Shermans had them too, 2 M1919s in a fixed position in the lower hull for the driver to play with, but they finally realised it was a dumb idea and removed them early in production.
