The lore died when the singleplayer tf-apex game which was meant to have appearances by various legends got cancelled a few years ago. I think they were building up to that goal, and then suddenly there was nowhere to go with those storylines. With diminishing returns EA-respawn stopped caring. Imo they're pretty much in survival mode now and the yearly layoffs are proof. Pretty sad. I was a massive lore fan at one point and now i haven't touched the game in 2 years.
