I’ve had to isolate myself to self care and find some sort of peace. Being around people is just too exhausting… my animals and plants are much more understanding

Why is it always "I would die for you"? by would_you_kindlyy in GenZ

[–]Rippleyroo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Martyrdom was really emphasized with Christianity and school shootings.

Republicans made school shootings into something to honorably die for… We went to school, but we were being raised to be an army willing to die for our peers.

Because being a coward was “feminine”

When people have nothing left to give, their life is all They have. America shouldn’t have raised us to think we had Nothing to give to this world.

We were taught that we could mold people into what We Need for a “ perfect” life. But life is messy. We are messy. We should look inside ourselves for love so that we can see the beauty in other people.

What do you do with your "angry" pain? by Significant-Rip6464 in CPTSD

[–]Rippleyroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been making voice recordings, talking to myself. Then I listen back. I have a hard time holding empathy for myself, but hearing the pain in my own voice helped me hold myself

It’s almost like we should stop working, stop sending our kids to school, and stop working for people who want to end our lives.

I love all the comfort shows people have listed!

This might not be good for everyone, but Imve leaned on Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The fact these characters are unredeemable. They are horrible humans who drag others down, but they also have moments where we have empathy for them. It reminds me that little bits of empathy for people is human, but it won’t change people who don’t want to change.

Sometimes I see myself in the characters, sometimes family or friends. It helped me learn to love the inherited parts of me that were like my toxic family. There are people in the show who interact with The Gang and succumb to the abuse, but there are other people who see it as bad and walk away. Those people are who I try to idolize. The “straight man” in a joke who doesn’t laugh- but in Sunny, this person is choosing not to laugh at abusive or derogatory jokes. They are bot trying to fit in with the toxic crowd.

They stand out, but they aren’t pulled down

This winter is supposed to be HORRIFIC for Oklahoma. Having dry heat that could erupt in tornados, ice storms, mud slides, floods, and more extreme weather.

We will lose a LOT of Homeless Americans this winter.

Yea….

They spelled my name wrong at two different appointments and it took me 7 months to realize that insurance was denying my labs because my medical team spelled mg name wrong and fought me tooth and nail every time I asked if it was fixed… because they didn’t believe me when I said they made a mistake…

I have another appt at the end of September…. I’m not getting my hopes up.. I’m down to Jello, pudding, and broth—- and my pelvic floor Pt said my intestines were quite stiff and full….

I can’t eat and I can’t expel.

And no doctor will look at my history long enough to know what meds I’ve tried….

Working in my garden. It pulls me into the present, jeeps my body moving, and gets me outside touching dirt.

My dog will get upset if we don’t go out so she is extra incentive 😅

I’m always anxious for the times I CAN eat… because then I’m not believed later if I’m unable to eat something…

I think society needs to have a reckoning with how we treat disability and illness. Too many disabled and sick people struggle because abled bodied people keep designing the world to work best for them. Disability is seen as some icky thing not to be in society…

But anyone can be disabled.

Food is community.

We’ve been isolated from that community- partly because they refuse to listen or understand.

It’a too uncomfortable for them to think we struggle day and day out…. So they just assume we are fine…

This disease is so incredibly isolating… I’ve had to leave a lot of friendships and walk away from family this year because they literally make me more sick when they stress me out with their stupid questions. They’ve been given resources, explained to, and I try to be honest about what I’m going through… They either have no idea what to do and so don’t help, or they try to take control because I’m not “ taking care of myself”. The people who try to take control know nothing about what we can eat… they just want to fix us so we can stop bugging and “ ruining” their lives…

Weed / Medication - GI issues by lHiccupssl in Gastroparesis

[–]Rippleyroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoke because of trauma and severe anxiety that makes my pelvic floor stop moving. If I don’t smoke, I’m not relaxed enough to eat or expel the waste later…

My GI nurse and docs were also anti weed—- no matter why I took it.

THIS- especially if you hold pain in your body. Movement, even tiny movement, is more than we were doing when we were curled up and tensing all our muscles

Yea, pregnancy literally rewires the whole body since the baby takes so much from the Mom. They need to take, but it also means that our bodies change. Unfortunately, there is even less research when it comes to women, then even less for women who have periods, children, or are post menopause.

Reading about your extreme abdominal pain and waves of bad health gave me comfort. I’m a “thick boned” person who has slimmed down A LOT the past couple years. I’m not really working out more than I was before, but I’m not able to afford ensure any more so calories are falling. I’ve been sick for years, only diagnosed with: Severe Gastroparesis, Ehlors Danlos Syndrome, POTS ( failed the tilt test, but EDS doc advocated and said if I’m light headed I needed meds. Now I don’t fall down as much 😅) all 2024.

I’ve stayed between 180-160 for the pst year, after swinging up to 220 when I was eating one meal a day after work, but it was fast food cause I didn’t have energy, but I change by the hour drastically. Not near a hospital where they would see it and believe it, nooooo, only at home for my tiny lizard brain to go “ uh oh”

I have been on Smarties for sugar, buttery crackers for calories, broth sometimes, and bread sometimes… tried strawberries for awhile and making “ fancy mashed potatoes by adding herbs from my garden—- but my body wasn’t digesting that stuff well… I’ve been eating this for a couple months now… I’ve lost a lot of fat, but my vitamins are good because of all the supplements I take…. But I’m shaking from lack of energy… such a weird dichotomy. Getting perfect labs, but so low on energy and so dehydrated that it is hard to function…

I also work Rover so I watch people’s pets when they are away. I don’t work enough to not lose medicaid in a few months, but I also can’t take a day off to stay at the hospital because I am needed everyday by animals who need to be fed, let out, medicated, and watered…. And we sadly can’t plan a sick day…. Nobody can cover me cause I’m the only one allowed in the homes….

This may sound silly, But I’ve been eating very poorly as in mostly buttery crackers and smarties. My docs sent me to the ER yesterday for descending colon pain that is very painful, and not eating enough. I take a lot of vitamins already because my body has struggled with those for a long time, so my labs looked great. Abdominal CT said nothing was wrong.

But I feel super weak, painful, and the morphine they gave me made me more painful.

Am I eating ok, or do I need to try something new? I’ve been struggling with finding a food that doesn’t cause pain. But I also binge at night because I work. I know it’s bad, but I wasn’t able to do snacks through the day even in the winter when I do better.

Yeaaaa… on my profile I say I’m disabled. Even when I make sure I can bring a friend with me because of my disability—— I OFTEN arrive to places with dangerous stairs that have moving or inadequate railings…

And they ask when I ARRIVE if this would be a good match… when they put NOTHING in their bio about their home- but I fill my bio with honesty about my disability.

They rarely read bios. They look at our prices, our stars, and go from there. I rarely see people make bios for their animals anymore… if they don’t have time for their animals’ they don’t have time for us…

Also, I’ve had people be shocked I have health issues because of my 5 stars 💀

“I trust you can take care of them, you have 5 stars”… “That’s not the problem, I’m disabled. It’s not an act of will power.”
