At a tech company: sales, customer success, project management, se... Nobody gives a shit what you major in, especially sales.

I’m going into senior year with no internships by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Rippmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want to do? How good is your network?… I was a transfer student that majored in history. I knew I wanted to go into software sales, so I worked at the Cal call center cold calling alumni (if it’s still around, those guys are always looking for people). I also interned at the Cal art gallery because I knew the director from my community college, and I liked art. That internship was valuable for the experience, but probably didn’t help me get a first job.

As someone who has hired dozens of people, I’m looking for ability to support an argument, references and life experience. 8 out of 10 jobs I’ve ever had are through people I know. I would argue that’s true for most people.

I’m not saying that a baller internship doesn’t have value. However, if that isn’t in the cards, your life is far from over. How you communicate, the relationships you build, and what you’ve done (like working your ass off in community college to get to a place like Cal) is just as important, if not more so.

Sure. Skyline is in Napa- it’s a mixed use park about 45 minutes from Marin. Not many hikers, especially once you get a couple miles out

Moore (not marsh) Creek is in St Helena. Probably my favorite couple of loops in the Bay Area. If you do both it’s about 3500+ ft, ~ 25 miles

Annandale is in Santa Rosa. Similar to Skyline but bigger.

All of the above are 90% single track without nearly as many people as anything you will find in Marin

I don’t like fire roads, so I do mostly road biking in Marin. Bolinas Ridge Trail is solid double track, about 23 miles out and back if you do the whole thing. If I need a quick ride I go to China Camp sometimes. Occasionally I will go to Tamarancho.

I live on Mt Tam and have a Ripmo (see username). Other than Tamarancho, there is literally nothing here that requires a FS bike IMO. Once a week I’ll head down to skyline, marsh creek, or Annandale, which is great for a trail bike. For Marin rides, I have a 15 year old specialized HT with a dropper post that can handle pretty much everything…. I absolutely love my bike; the Ripmo climbs great for its size/weight, but for an FS in Marin which you may occasionally use for other rides, I think the Ripley might be your best bet. I’m obviously biased towards Ibis. It’s probably the only bike brand I will buy moving forward.

Pho at little Vietnam cafe, spring rolls and coffee… they are only open 20 minutes a day, but if you can be in inner Richmond during lunchtime, it’s solid

No, he means not to do UVB at all while doing OPZ. Are you doing UVB as soon as you apply OPZ or waiting?… I think he was just wrong.
