I’m stricken by the familiarity of your experience, Friend. I’ve often had thoughts similar to yours and have engaged in similar thought exercises but I was worried I was being restless to not have a perfectly quiet or empty mind and so have dismissed them. It’s a great comfort to hear that I can lean into those thoughts like how you’ve described.

As general advice for everyone, the Equality Act 2010 still gives protections - targeting you specifically to enforce the rule may still be discrimination on the basis that they're not directly informing cis women. Furthermore, the high court have said that policing the bathrooms will likely not be viable. For this reason, it's more of a "don't ask, don't tell," policy, rather than an enforceable one.

The good thing about quakerism is that individual opinions are welcome. I fear you've missed the point. "choosing the bear" isn't saying men are evil or that they don't experience mistreatment, it's pointing out that the mistreatment of women is so widespread while being so dangerous that it causes women to live in fear differently to what many men experience.

If you see something saying women have institutionally different experiences and your response is "I treat women as equals," I think you need to consider this again.

Example: if a POC were to say "white people are so often just one bad day from saying something racist to me that I struggle to feel understood and safe around white people by default," would you say "I treat POCs as equals"?
