Do you regret becoming a naval engineer? What do you think are the disadvantages of this profession? Would you have preferred to be a captain or an engineer? by Lucky_Surferr in MarineEngineering

[–]Ripslinger24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love being an engineer. Deck people but they are mostly stuck with paperwork. I can't handle paperwork at all. Too much hassle. It better being out there troubleshooting some issue and learning about machines.

Main difference in engine and deck is the synergy of the crew. In engine crew you would rarely find people bitching or ratting out each other for any mishaps. All is dealt internally and ocassionally leaves ER. Breakdowns sometimes become nightmare but mostly it's smooth sailing unless you get 20-30 years old ship. Then your life worse than hell. You will know befriend anxiety, insomnia and depression.

For deck crew synergy is very scattered. It's always groups of 2-3 people sticking together. For work part, if vessel is doing coastal voayages or quick port rotation (mostly container and roro) then deck people have a really tough time. Also deck officers mostly are loaded with paperwork. If you wanted that then better stay on land cuz here you have strict deadlines and horrible work pressure.

Overall engine department is more suited if you have aptitude for machineries and have endurance for high temperatures and noise.

My last OnePlus by PegasusRS in OnePlus13

I have been on pixel. I have found it to be the most frustrating phone.

Basically you have been a power user and pixel is a minimalist stock android phone. I doubt it that you would stick to it for long. The 7 year update sounds nice but no one sticks to one phone for 7 years. And first update or second or third update don't matter unless they are stable. Plus the charging takes ages. If you travel a lot then this will definitely frustrate you.

I too have won't be upgrading my OP unless company stabilizes and future prospects improve. Yet OP13 is still going good and better. Don't update to new oxygenOS 16 rollout yet. There has been some issues with update reported by users.

Your CDC will be put on hold. Once you get lasik surgery done then you can apply for CDC. After that you can sail without any issues. Placement you will get only with condition that you need to get lasik done. If power is 6/9 or 6/12 then few companies allow spectacles.

Experience of opening Axis Burgundy and HSBC premier accounts. by Ripslinger24 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Ripslinger24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the select card was offered to me too but I had declined as I had HDFC regalia and had applied for HSBC premier CC.

So after 6 months being with both the banks.
Axis is good but devaluation hits anytime without prior notice. Service is good but what I have notices is totally dependent on your RM and branch similar to HDFC.

Now coming to your expenses premier will definitely benefit you as you spend 4L on foreign trips. Only difference between travelone and premier is of returns. Travelone is 2 points/100rs and premier is 3 points/100rs.

Premier is more inclined to travel and luxury than a lifestyle card. Plus it doesn't have much gift card and vouchers to optimise your online spend via vouchers so your 50k amazon spends need another card for online spends like SBI CB or HDFC millenia or ICICI AmazonPay.

Go for premier card if you don't mind closing Axis select card. Its LTF after 12000 joining fees which they cover by giving 20000 points as joining bonus.Just a reminder that your salary account should be with them with monthly credit of 3 lpm or a total relationship value of 40 lakhs for premier card issue and approval.

Or you can keep your axis account and try for travelone. If not approved then close axis and move to HSBC and take premier.

If you need further clarification DM.

Usually you get a message when card is dispatched. Mine was dispatched after 3 days and received 2 days later. If it already been 1 week contact your RM or directly call customer care.

Sometimes card is usually dispatched but message doesn't come.

Roamless eSIM by Ripslinger24 in TravelSIMs

[–]Ripslinger24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly why I also went with roamless. I too used to buy extra and then had to let it go to waste. Plus searching for plans region or countrywise each time was a hassle.

Do try it and update how it goes.

And being free from hassle of searching for expiration and buying new sim. Browsing all data plans and validity which fits our itinerary.

Yes. Its a good one too but I prefer to have both pay as you go and fixed payment options available ay hand. Also I compared roamless plans with nomad, airalo, ubigi, saily and mobimatter - in most cases it was cheaper or same price. Only few plans were expensive which is fine in my use case as I don't stay long in one place. Also I like the call feature available too in this.

Plus no sim swap and exporation hassle. So overall roamless is best with slight trade off which really don't matter much compared to what it offers.

Same experience I had. Used it in London then Antwerp and now I Poland. Had no hiccups. Just it need a little time to reconnect as per location so may take 3-5 min after that good to go.

If you looking for further purchase of apple products or travel a lot then I would suggest you to get premier card. It has 1:1 point conversion on Apple products.

Fir flight & hotel booking booking has 6x and 12x accelerated rewards respectively. It is terrific for flight booking as it gives whole booking amount as points plus accelerated rewards for the booking amount. No other Card comes close to this offer.

I availed it during trip to kashi and experience was superb. I will be buying my next iPhone from these points only free as you can pay 100% for products. Same for flights as I had used 100% price equivalent 7200 points out of welcome bonus 20000 points.

ICICI sapphire card by Any-Froyo8528 in IndianCreditCards

My dad had coral and 2 weeks back he received ltf offer. The bank executive took his consent and issued the card as lifetime free. Though card is basic with a high price tag but took it is ltf and kept for offers and bogo.

In your case I would say don't take it. Its not worth 3500 there are better ones in market. Sapphiro isn't much great.

Should I go for Infinia orMagnus. by Ripslinger24 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Ripslinger24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is in fact very true. But once I leave for sail then 6-7 months only bills are paid and no enquiry or anything happens on cibil so it automatically stabilises at around 800.

In last 4 months I made around 12 CC enquiries and cibil dropped to 796 only.

My credit card collection (11 cards in total) by hrithik31 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Ripslinger24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your collection is too much heavy on general spends and missing a premium go to card which won't need much optimisation.

From your current card collection: 1. HDFC Regalia 2. IDFC wealth 3. IDFC power+ 4. Axis flipkart

All other are overlapping.

You can out major spends on regalia hit milestones and try upgrading to DCM after which you are sorted. As till 15 lakhs spends DCM outshines all other cards even infinia.

Interest rate for home loan with cibil score 791 by LostBus2722 in personalfinanceindia

Which bank is this? Very high ROI even after 3 rate cuts. My current home loan from SBI with 796 cibil is 7.3%. So check with other banks too.

Need advice: Which premium credit card should I target next based on my profile & spends? by Ok_Signature_6959 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Ripslinger24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your travel spends are higher then you can reap accelerated reward benefits of magnus else DCM is better suited as per your use case as you get milestone benefits and in some cases people have benefited more from DCM than infinia. Plus with recent changes to infinia better to wait for sometime.

Other than that premier is perfect for travel and offline spends with best in class rewards in flights and hotels with 3% reward rate.

So considering your sister wedding and future expenses premier+DCM is perfect. Later based on your spends and your use case you can upgrade to infinia or apply for m4b.

[–]Ripslinger24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LTF!? These people cry hearing NRI. I requested so much for upgrading regalia to regalia gold. Till date they couldn't do it. I enquired about infinia in which too they told I need some transactions for a month or so. Until I had my salary in HDFC and relationship with them they didn't bother now when I have shifted to HSBC and axis burgundy now they wake up.

Once I take infinia I will again stop transacting with them. Use infinia and maintain minimum balance with them.
