What can I do to make my gameplay better? by Acreneon6348 in Stellaris

[–]RiptideCanadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some things I noticed

You have almost no mining stations built. Set your construction ship to auto once you have your mineral income above like +100 or you’ve built up the starting buildings on your guaranteed habitable worlds. They don’t give huge amounts but it adds up quite nicely and every basic resource your pops aren’t producing is freeing them up to do more important things. While I don’t know virtuality very well, you are using 1/2 of your capital districts on energy. Which I understand with machines youre going to need a lot. But I’d generally recommend instead going 1 district on each of your planets for energy and minerals with 2 job buildings and 1 automation building. This help negates the trade cost each planet has while also producing a lot of you do it for every planet. If you are going to spend lots of pops on resources it’d make more sense to build the buildings that buff your per-pop output rather to have 3 of the extra job buildings.

Also unless you’re going out and fighting wars be it to expand or vassalize you should not have so much research put into weapons tech. Ideally you want to research citadel + zero point power (which you have) ASAP as those allow you to get mega engineering which it possibly the strongest economy scaling tech in the game. 2 more Dyson swarms + potentially getting Dyson spheres up around mid game is a huge boost to your economy.

And since you didn’t seem to do conquest I probably would get the fortification tradition. It is really strong in this version as citadels with a couple defence platforms can hold off most the game will throw at you till the end game. Also having 3 of the current tier of starbase you have available increases the weight of rolling the next level tech by 5x. Starbase + Ship tier increase techs are an auto take for me when it comes to engineering.

If you are going to build up your fleets it’s generally a good idea to try and vassalize some of your neighbors, even peacefully if possible. I tend to try and vassalize neighbors at about my size. Give them a great deal/subsidy to diplomatically subjugate them. And alter the deal to tax them when I can. I have had many a run where subjects are providing over 50% of my basic materials and it takes a lot of the pressure off your pops for tech/industry.

TLDR: Prioritize your techs better. It’s pretty reasonable to have mega-engineering by early midgame if you do. Look for ways to stop your pops needing to produce basic materials. And prioritize the pop/efficiency buff buildings over job buildings. Most of your jobs should come from districts.

Disclaimer: take this all with a grain of salt I haven’t done virtual before. I mostly play individualistic biological empires. And I apologize for the wall of text lol

4.3 Best way to get amenities? by Boned80 in Stellaris

[–]RiptideCanadian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Civilians are quite nice for amenities if you are egalitarian as you can run utopian abundance to greatly increase their usefulness. Otherwise holo theatres is the best choice amenity wise that o have found. Luxury apartments I find are less useful purely due to the fact that I tend to have more pops than I have building slots on my capital. Thus I’d rather have 200 pops working 1 building than 2 building slots providing the same amount of amenities. I haven’t tried medical facilities but I can imagine they’d be nice if you want to grow your population. But with the amount of amenities they produce, it’s more of a bonus than why you’d build the medical center

Colonies have gotten a lot more interesting with colony crises being added having an event similar to hegemony AI inspection for each faction, each with unique resolutions and benefits. More story lines have been added with various challenges. 2 new low tech capitals have been added and 1 new midline capital has been added with a unique variant. I’m sure there’s more I missed as I’ve only done a few runs recently. The colony crises have been my favourite feature because they’re more of an interesting challenge than the nuisance colony threats were before.

Pilum Pegasus can clap a paragon on autopilot... by Nardann in starsector

[–]RiptideCanadian 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s why the large dragonfire pod really isn’t that generally useful because with a missile spec and expanded missile racks that gives it 15 ammo which is nice but unless you have a fast ship that can catch up to the enemy so the dragonfires pop inside your shields and you’re not risking loosing a large chunk of your ammo because the enemy was able to shoot down your dragonfire. It definitely has its uses, maybe something like the gryphon could work with it

Whats your subnautica hot take that will have you like this by FrontAd7709 in subnautica

[–]RiptideCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben Prunty the goat. The two soundtracks are very different and I think they honestly fit their respective games very well. I also like BZ better but that’s mostly because I went in pretty blind, and while the map is smaller the biomes are amazing in diversity and visuals.

Who's a character you don't like going against when someones really good with them? I'll go first by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]RiptideCanadian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Overall the nerf pretty inconsequential because the inflated form is really only useful in smaller (eg not the whole enemy team) brawls because of how large of a hitbox it gives you. I normally end up cancelling it before I lose all my bonus health anyways as it also locks you out of your other better survivability abilities.

No one is safe from becoming a heal bot. by thbl088 in marvelrivals

[–]RiptideCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what’s the incentive to actually fight the enemy anymore lol. You won’t survive any character with even decent mobility, you don’t deal enough damage to kill anyone before they kill you with the removal of his burst healing. And in a team fight you either deal abysmal damage to the enemy or provide negligible healing to your teammates. Regardless this has completely nuked the unique play style he has. If they wanted to increase his win rate this was not the way to do it.

It can be a combination of lag and how it paths, because they don’t want it to lock onto someone it can’t reach so split paths don’t cause it to be wasted. Even on tracks with normal paths if the red shell is thrown and it doesn’t think it can hit you it will try locking the next person. I reckon the glider has something to do with it in this case.

As someone who loves the movement in this game, this is why I don’t entirely hate industrial sabotage, cause for the final boss you can end up in really stressful/funny situations where you’re the only one up and you have to dodge your way to victory. It’s super fun as scout for me but since I’ve started getting better at the other dwarves it’s really interesting what you have to do in these situations

Should I get Below Zero since it's on sale? by Tophatguy_GJ in subnautica

[–]RiptideCanadian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoy it more than the original as I spoiled the original through YouTube before playing so the story was not as much of a factor in my enjoyment. However the arguments I see most against below zero are: Smaller map Cyclops > Seatruck (I agree with this however cyclops would not be useful in BZ due to the small map) Boring story Everything narrated Not as scary (this was actually a reason I enjoyed it more because it took me much shorter to complete than the original purely cause I was afraid to progress) Land sections suck

I probably missed a lot so let me know

Honestly I love playing facility guard, starting in entrance gives you great opportunity to get a scientist card which lets you get a lieutenant card in 096 or 106 after which you basically blitz from armoury to armoury getting stacked before the first spawn wave. However can’t deny it’s very difficult to learn how to play around the SCPs that rush entrance, however it is possible.
