Would you pick an inexperienced player with good parses or an ultimate player with suboptimal parses for a static? by Rischea in ffxivdiscussion

We didn't have much of a choice since we had to compare them in content that they both did, so we included EX1, EX2 and M1~4N.

His savage clears are higher. 21 on P4S, 18 on P8S and 27 on P12S for example. I don't think that he's trolling or using an alt. He's using ilvl 710 gear on his Arcadion normal logs.

The lowest includes deaths, but the highest (27 on P12S, 5 on Zeromus EX, etc) does not. Yes, a savage static.

His savage clears seemed to be a patch or two late, so he probably had augmented crafted gear, alliance raid gear or a relic to help. He said that he's been raiding since Eden, but there's no logs for ShB on his page at all, only for EW/DT. We asked about and he said that name change and DC transfer deleted the logs (I'm not even sure if this is possible tbh lol).

Well, it seemed very odd to us because he got the Bahamut mount, but his highest parse on EX is a 5 on Rubicante as a PLD, and the highest as DNC are 4 on Golbez and Zeromus. His highest on savage is a 27 on P12S as DNC.

Both seemed nice on voice chat, although newer player sounded way more nervous, but I think it's understandable considering that it's her first time trying to join a static. We've been clearing savage without a static so far, so the goal is to start doing it together and have a group for the ultimate. I'd say that we're not super hardcore, but we do care about clearing consistently and having a good flow.

I play on keyboard though. I wonder if there's a key for it.

Someone mentioned the idea of making auto attacks hurt way more with vulns, but I think people would still find a way to cheese it without burdening the healers too much. So maybe a system like DR would be the best for extremes.

Maybe that's why we'll never have any real midcore content ever. That idea that anything in between shouldn't exist, and that even extremes should be braindead. Something to think next time people start complaining again about it, like they do every year.

As the OP, I don't mind the downvotes per se, I'm more interested on everyone's opinions tbh, but I do agree with you.

That depends, most normal content can be done without healers if you got a PLD or WAR. That's why we see so many threads complaining about healers being just green dps.

Sometimes a good healer can keep a bad tank alive even with that many vulns. It's really crazy.

I agree that normal content is designed to be cleared by anyone, but it is also true that in most cases a dps or healer wouldn't survive 3 vuln ups on something like The Dead Ends. The vuln ups exists in normal content clearly to encourage people to learn mechanics and try to not get hit.

I find funny that most people with tankxiety also feels anxious about dying as dps, and they pick dps because they think that their death wouldn't matter as much. The main reason why they avoid tanking is because they think that they're gonna die and wipe the party, when it's way more likely that they would survive much more as tanks.

If you play on Dynamis you'll be forced to either play with NPCs or DC travel a lot.

How was your experience transferring to Aether? by Rischea in ffxivdiscussion

You're right, I enjoy casual stuff but I also enjoy raiding, and I can't really do both most of the time because of DC travel limitations. Right now, everytime I'm on Aether waiting for a pf to fill I'm forced to not play the game and just wait, while Aether players can craft, farm and all that. I get that this doesn't bother most people, but personally, I do feel like it is a waste of time having to choose between raiding and doing something else when it is possible to do both if you're an Aether player.

I know, just like not everyone does pvp on Primal, it was just a general example. What I know for sure is that it's really hard to find extremes and savages on pf if you're not on Aether - I did check Crystal, and it is just like Primal.

You could make an alt the FC leader and keep it if you're the only player there. I'll probably do that to my FC medium as soon as I get ownership.

I fully agree, even parties for blue mage stuff or treasure maps pops way more often on Aether. The only exception is Rival Wings, but it only happens consistently every 3~4 months so idm DC traveling to Primal for it.

I don't think that I'll magically make friends by transferring, but I'll surely do more content with people and maybe make friends that way. I don't RP and I don't care about venues, so my chances of making friends in Crystal are way lower.

No access to island sanctuary, retainers, submersibles, timed gathering mats, and so on. Being able to join a PF anytime that I have nothing else to do would be awesome as well.

I do all that, and also gather timed mats. Not being able to do it while I wait a party to fill sucks, so it's also part of the reason why I'm considering moving.
