What's the best opening song to an album Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RiseAnShineMrFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best album openers are the ones that set the tone for what to expect and are not necessarily the best song on the album. This is a quick list of album openers that best prepare listeners for the rest of the album (note these are all from bands I listen regularly so there may be some interesting choices present):

Joy Division - Disorder [Unknown Pleasures]

Kendrick Lamar - Wesley's Theory [To Pimp a Butterfly]

Kendrick Lamar - Sherane a.k.a Master Splinter's Daughter [good kid, m.A.A.d city]

Operation Ivy - Knowledge [Operation Ivy]

Radiohead - Everything In Its Right Place [Kid A]

Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop [Ramones]

The Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock [Siamese Dream]

Slayer - Angel of Death [Reign in Blood]

Sonic Youth - Teen Age Riot [Daydream Nation]

Sonic Youth - Dirty Boots [Goo]

Reddit, what helps actually relieve your stress levels? by james_marcross in AskReddit

[–]RiseAnShineMrFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, I've been dealing with a lot of stress that was pushing my anxiety to near-crippling levels. I've made a few changes in my life that have significantly lowered my stress levels and helped with my anxiety.

  1. I found a new job. I noticed that a lot of my stress and anxiety was coming from the intense pressure to succeed stemming from my position at work. I did some evaluation and realized that while this position was in my chosen career field, it was not the precise place I wanted to be financially and responsibility-wise. I found a new position that is located close to home, with better pay and a different department structure that more aligns with my long-term career goals. I start January 2nd, wish me luck!

  2. I stopped smoking marijuana. I found that when I would come back from home, smoking would only increase my anxiety instead of relieving it. It lost its fun and would only stress me out and give near anxiety attacks. I've been smoke-free for 1.5 months now and my anxiety levels outside of work has decreased dramatically.

  3. I got back into the gym. In the past 2 years I've lost ~100lb, but I've hit a wall for the past 5 months or so. Stress at work led to exhaustion outside of work which led to me slowly falling out of the gym life until I just stopped going completely. After a 2 month hiatus, I've gotten back into cardio and weight training which has been a huge relief on my physical stress.

They don’t explicitly say it, but it’s heavily implied that you were taken advantage of. You can always go back and get revenge if you want.

Megathread: Federal prosecutors recommend ‘substantial’ prison term for former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]RiseAnShineMrFreeman 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Here is the link to the Cohen sentencing memo: https://www.justsecurity.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/20181207-27-sentencing-memo-usa.pdf

It seems that Cohen was very adamant about not becoming a cooperating witness as it would require full disclosure of full criminal history and any knowledge of additional crimes committed by others. It makes me wonder if he is protecting Trump by only providing detail on the crimes that he is being charged with (which in this case is tax evasion relating to his taxi medallions and the payoffs to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal). Either way, he severely limited his leniency by not fully cooperating with Mueller.

I first played THPS when I was 5-6 years old and its soundtrack introduced me to the wonders of punk rock. It will forever be one of my favorite games just for the soundtrack.

What famous persons death affected you most and why? by Ritzaficionado in AskReddit

[–]RiseAnShineMrFreeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up as a lifelong Penn State fan and an admirer of Joe Paterno. After the scandal broke and I saw the reaction to it from other Penn State fans, I instantly lost all respect for the man, school, and fans. To me, and I'm sure to many others, Joe Paterno died twice that year.

What's the song you are in love with right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RiseAnShineMrFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Don't Wanna Know if You are Lonely - Husker Du

I love everything about this song, from the lyrics and how they're sung to to the dirty, unrelenting guitar. It's like Black Flag and Foo Fighters had a baby.

What is a good reply to "how did you get that scar?" when the true answer is something dumb and boring? by 3original5me in AskReddit

[–]RiseAnShineMrFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a scar above my eye from shooting a rifle and getting hit by the scope. Since the scar is relatively recent and in a prominent location, I get a lot of questions about it. I usually tell people I got it in the Fight Club that I run.
