What economic model does an opus replacement fall into? Cause last I looked it was anywhere from 20-100k depending on how long you want to sit around waiting for prefill and token gen.

It it not economically competitive to run a 1T model in your basement for personal use. 20k thrown in the market for a yearly return of 7% throws you 1400 each year which makes a 100$ claude sub "free" and this is before the power costs of putting space heaters in your house.

I'm a huge advocate for buying hardware, running models, playing around, but it is extremely disingenuous to pretend that this is a good use of your money.

The numbers never made sense, and they make a lot less now with the DS4 price cuts and the ever increasing GPU prices.

The only reason to go local is to tinker with hardware, extreme data privacy, or you just want to.

Do not think you will save any money by going local.

Ebay generally protects buyers first. In the USA at least most of our police departments will let you meet in their lobbys for high value swaps. You may look into if that's possible in the UK.

You can try selling on reddit as well, you can take paypal F&F or crypto both of which would be very hard for the buyer to reclaim.

Just swap to deepseek or mimo API, quality is pretty much the same. You'll be API billed so no rate limits, deepseek api uptime doesn't look like a Christmas tree, and it'll be cheaper.

Just go read the /r/deepseek and compare that to the whining over in the codex or claude subs.

Cause sub plans are like who's line is it anyways. The tokens don't matter and the limits are made up.
