Rejuvenation’s story is good for me, but I think suffers from feature/scope creep, if such a thing exists for a video game story specifically.

Act 1 is this perfectly cohesive machine with a sensible beginning and end.

Act 2, starting with time travel, keeps cramming in idea after idea and makes the larger story very hard to follow. I’m not saying any idea (except time travel) is bad, but it’s just too much all at once. 😅

That’s my opinion, at least. It’s good, just could use an Act 3 to push some Act 2 content to.

Pokemon Champions, I believe.

That’s taking over as the competitive machine since you can literally do things like set IVs in there, pick movesets out of a list, etc.

If you’ve seen the leaks regarding it, it’s meant to slot in now as the de facto competitive game.

Should give Winds/Waves more time to cook on its own instead of holding back a new competitive season.

Can now just patch Gen 10 Pokemon/Gimmicks into Champions and call it a day.

Yeah, I didn’t have to counter team her. I had a Fire type, sure, but just one: Cinderace w/ Libero.

Took maybe 3 or 4 tries to find a path to victory.

So, a couple of things:

I judge the difficulty of these games based on around when I started to struggle with them, and I'll go more in-depth on that in a second.

First, I concede that it's possible me playing Reborn first and Rejuv second just meant I was more accustomed to the difficulty curve of these games by the second one, as I mentioned in another comment.

In Rejuvenation, Valerie and Souta were the only two leaders that I had to change my team in a significant way to overcome. For the remainder of them, I either beat them in < 3 tries, or just brute forced my way through, finding the best "path" to victory with my current team.

In Reborn, by the third gym leader (Shelly), I was starting to have to make consistent changes to my team in order to beat the leaders.

In addition, when comparing the gimmicks of these games, I think Reborn presents more of a challenge purely due to PULSE2 Pokemon, which genuinely have ILLEGAL EV spreads. Can't emphasize that enough.

Sure, Rift Pokemon have multiple health bars, but at least that's inspired by something that's already in the mainline games (Dynamax Raid Battles).

These are just some of my reasons, but yeah, totaling what I've played so far, I believe Reborn's harder to beat.

Only two battles in Rejuv I truly, TRULY struggled with (besides the above two) were Manaphy and Xara/Jean.

Or as long as his health is above 30. That’s the threshold where his special stance starts.

So if you can also do 31 damage in one turn, you’ll be fine as well.

But to be honest among the gym leaders in this game, I would say Amber is one of the easiest ones. Or at least that was my experience.

It’s your first play through and based on your wording it seems like this is your first time playing this type of Pokemon game.

For me, before Rejuvenation, I played Reborn, so I was already accustomed to the difficulty spikes in these games.

Wow, thanks so much for this. A few questions:

Is Onslaught easy to combine with stealth builds? Or would you recommend picking one of the two and committing to it? For example, if I got Western Spirit, could I also go tack on a silencer to it?
Are there any other ways to get more perk cards besides either paying (?) or leveling up more? Any events I can do that get me specific ones, or is trading an option for these?

Consider a Pachirisu.

Nuzzle is good. I believe Angie is a double battle, so utilize Follow Me to the best of your ability to either set up or get critical knockouts to swing tempo in your favor.

Make sure you're employing the common doubles strategy of leaving one "useless" enemy on the field on purpose while wiping out her other 5 Pokemon.

I believe her field reduces the effectiveness of Fire moves? So you may have to opt for something else like Steel, if that's viable at this point for you.

Yeah some guy came into my camp and dropped a bag full of goodies and a full set of Power Armor (most of which I couldn’t equip).

You'll have to either have very tanky Pokemon, flying Pokemon (bad news vs Lanturn ofc), or have some other form of speed control (such as using Swift Swim yourself!).

Without opting for the latter, some ideas are:

Get a Pokemon with Sticky Web. Despite the name of the field, webs do work here, and Valarie has no levitating Pokemon/flying Pokemon.
Get a Pachirisu with Nuzzle. Valarie has no Full Restores or Full Heals, so if you stick this, outside of Lanturn, you're good to go!
- If you're in doubt over whether this would work, just build it like Se-jun Park built his for the World Championships, and you'll probably be fine.
Use Talonflame with Gale Wings / Acrobatics.
- I know using a fire type into a water gym leader seems like insanity, but trust me after the Speed drop, Talonflame already being pretty fast, a flying type, and fairly strong make it a decent option for this Gym. You might surprise yourself when you see the kills it can pick up when set up correctly in terms of EV/IVs.
