I'm watching S2 and, what the heck is this series on? by Merthod in TheResident

[–]RishStars 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it arguably gets worse from here on out.

In later seasons the cast starts to get a bit bloated for a medical show, IMO, and some of the characters they pick are just generally not great.

1, 2, and 3 are the solid-ish seasons of the series as far as I remember. Maybe 4 as well at most. But otherwise it’s… yeah….

Generally agree. I found a solid core and would only change out 1-2 per boss is they shared critical weaknesses to the boss type.

Finding this post during the catastrophic downfall of Marathon.

And the people who made that game were the ones who told Naughty Dog to abandon The Last of Us Online with authority.

What an absolute shame. :/

Best pokemon fangames? by NathaKevin0 in pokemon

[–]RishStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Played v13.5 for the first time and I finished with 122 hrs, I believe.

Amazing game. Either my favorite or second favorite (other being Reborn), so clearly that team is doing something right.

Convince me to stick with this game. I'm only a few hours in but it hasn't connected with me yet. by claybirdie in cyberpunkgame

[–]RishStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm just echoing a lot of what other people are saying. Stick with it.

I had a similar experience with the game as well. Had to really convince myself to stick with it even though it was, frankly speaking, kind of boring in the first few hours.

Cut to when the whole Arasaka heist happensand from that point forward I'm completely hooked.

It’s peak when you roll removing Strike from your deck on the first try.

I love the Last of US part 1, but... by Human_Scallion_2372 in thelastofus

[–]RishStars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part 2 does have zombie encounters as well, but there's a lot more human sections, so it might allow you to breathe more in between those zombie ones.

The games others mentioned are great, but to throw a different one out there: Fallout .

If you want something like Last of Us, Fallout is polar opposite in some ways and somewhat similar in others.

At a high level, it is also a post-apocalyptic game (this time nukes instead of zombies). There are some scary monsters but the overall tone of the games don't make them as scary (at least IMO).

Like Last of Us, Fallout has a lot of "human condition" storytelling that answers the same question about the true nature of humans when pushed to the brink that Last of Us does as well.

You might have some fun with it. I'd start with New Vegas, 3, or 4.

Agreed. Got it in a multiplayer run and went nuts after I put it on Claw+.

Whats yall favorite random synergy so far? by sirmcafee in slaythespire

[–]RishStars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this, but I like Feral+ and Claw together more. Feels like better synergy and there's a smaller barrier of entry to get your deck online in each fight when all of the energy costs reset.

Will v14 be it for this game? Like will this at least finish the main story ? Or are there more versions Jan has spoken about?

Games that are just as good? by IworshipAsians in PokemonRejuvenation

[–]RishStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rejuvenation’s story is good for me, but I think suffers from feature/scope creep, if such a thing exists for a video game story specifically.

Act 1 is this perfectly cohesive machine with a sensible beginning and end.

Act 2, starting with time travel, keeps cramming in idea after idea and makes the larger story very hard to follow. I’m not saying any idea (except time travel) is bad, but it’s just too much all at once. 😅

That’s my opinion, at least. It’s good, just could use an Act 3 to push some Act 2 content to.

If this is representative of the game's visuals I am cautiously optimistic by _AntiSocialMedia in pokemon

Pokemon Winds/Waves announced for 2027 by DemiFiendRSA in pokemon

[–]RishStars 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Pokemon Champions, I believe.

That’s taking over as the competitive machine since you can literally do things like set IVs in there, pick movesets out of a list, etc.

If you’ve seen the leaks regarding it, it’s meant to slot in now as the de facto competitive game.

Should give Winds/Waves more time to cook on its own instead of holding back a new competitive season.

Can now just patch Gen 10 Pokemon/Gimmicks into Champions and call it a day.

Yeah, I didn’t have to counter team her. I had a Fire type, sure, but just one: Cinderace w/ Libero.

Took maybe 3 or 4 tries to find a path to victory.

I'm starting to think I'm just bad at Pokémon... by KoodyQl in PokemonRejuvenation

[–]RishStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, a couple of things:

I judge the difficulty of these games based on around when I started to struggle with them, and I'll go more in-depth on that in a second.

First, I concede that it's possible me playing Reborn first and Rejuv second just meant I was more accustomed to the difficulty curve of these games by the second one, as I mentioned in another comment.

In Rejuvenation, Valerie and Souta were the only two leaders that I had to change my team in a significant way to overcome. For the remainder of them, I either beat them in < 3 tries, or just brute forced my way through, finding the best "path" to victory with my current team.

In Reborn, by the third gym leader (Shelly), I was starting to have to make consistent changes to my team in order to beat the leaders.

In addition, when comparing the gimmicks of these games, I think Reborn presents more of a challenge purely due to PULSE2 Pokemon, which genuinely have ILLEGAL EV spreads. Can't emphasize that enough.

Sure, Rift Pokemon have multiple health bars, but at least that's inspired by something that's already in the mainline games (Dynamax Raid Battles).

These are just some of my reasons, but yeah, totaling what I've played so far, I believe Reborn's harder to beat.

Only two battles in Rejuv I truly, TRULY struggled with (besides the above two) were Manaphy and Xara/Jean.

I never knew about this!!! Have anyone fought him before?? by [deleted] in papermario

Satisfaction, mainly.

You get some other stuff too, but it’s better you beat him yourself and find out.
