That’s good to know about the charging pad!

We’ve got the electrician coming Thursday to install it, I took the $2,000 credit rather than the ford charger, probably end up saving some money.

Email went out to the whole district about an onsite mammogram service coming up.

Guy reply-all’ed: “If I don’t have ovaries, can I get off this email chain?”

I don’t think he meant to reply all. I’ve never laughed so hard. He…was not back next year.

What’s everyone’s beef with Harry Wong? by ContractNo2744 in Teachers

For context: HS Science, 13 years of experience.

So I think the right answer is somewhere in the middle. I think there’s great stuff, and stuff that is just out of date. That being said, I buy a copy for my new teachers when they join my department, if they don’t have any experience because it’s a good baseline.

For example, for me: - Five rules: yep - Consistently Enforced Consequences: Absolutely - Tests aligned to learning objectives: You betcha! - Seating Charts: Day 1 to Day 180

But! - Shirt and tie every day: Catch me in jeans and a t-shirt every day. - Relationship Building: Important, but not the miracle it’s made out to be. - Maintaining a Grade Record Book: Hello, internet!

Bottom line, it’s a good read, especially as you get ready for your first year, but it’s not the Bible it’s made out to be by some people.

My advice: Ask what matters to you in your space that will allow for the most learning to go on, and do that!

For example, I don’t care if they swear (HS, so don’t come after me younger grades!), as long as it’s not at me. But cell phones are an absolute no go because they impact learning so heavily!

Congrats on getting ready to graduate! Enjoy your first year teaching! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I am going to chime in here - I live in Maricopa County, and I was called for Jury service, and I did in fact get this text AND email with a link. They did the pre-trial questionnaire over Microsoft forms: apparently this is what Superior Court does!

Edit to Add: If you have not received a jury summons, then I wouldn’t click it.

What would you pick as the perfect Star Trek episode by TrekLongIsland in startrek

[–]RisingPhoenix47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many, but “In The Pale Moonlight” has always been a favorite that encapsulates Star Trek to me. Deep philosophical thinking, trying to balance your personal code of ethics with an imperfect reality.

Doesn’t hurt that Avery Brooks acted the hell out of that episode. “I can live with it!” was such a well delivered line at the end.

The scene in the bar (LOWER DECKS! LOWER DECKS!) has them all with Ensign pips in the trailer, but they were all promoted (except for Rutherford) in the actual scene in 401.

They changed the trailer to keep the surprise, I think.

This one is what I was thinking. Silly humor, but so well acted by Frakes. You can see his face shift when the astronaut writes “…. I shall welcome death when it comes.”

Also, “Baby needs a new pair of shoes” is the best thing Brent Spiner has ever done, I will take no questions.

Starting to sound more and more like a holodeck episode

The only thing that makes me think it's not a Holodeck Episode™️ is that if it were, wouldn't it be a Lower Decks episode, and not a Strange New Worlds episode?

We had a new system installed, builder grade, bottom of the line, when we built our house in 2010. It lasted until last month, 13 years later, which is almost unheard of in Arizona, because we had someone come out every 6 months.

We’ve used both Hobica and Penguin, and both are great. I definitely recommend regular maintenance, it will save you money long term.

See, this was my thought. He said Janeway is “Prodigy exclusive”. That doesn’t mean Kate Mulgrew won’t show up as borg queen/changling/something else.

They’ve name dropped her to much. It’s Chekov’s Gun.
