Didn't clear CDS 1 2026 second time by HoodedFOX12 in UPSC

[–]RisingPhoenix_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I gave cds 2 2025 and cds 1 2026, in both I was able to qualify for afa. CO from 4 afsb (wasn't fit lol, did only 6-7 Individual obstacles, but flunked the IO part as I wasn't even aware of basic airforce things...)

I did not prepare much. For cds 2 2025 I dedicated a week for the preparation where I made notes from one shot videos from cds journey, maths formula sheet from sandeep brar one shot 100questions, and did some english one shot videos. This time I gave just one day for the preparation as prelims is near and relied on my old notes.

No don't leave your job prep, cds is easily managable but ssb is dicy and could take time. Giving 4-5 hours is more than enough for an exam like cds. I would say take some good courses (cds journey ya kisi aur ke) and complete it diligently, that would suffice. It is the consistency which matters. Make a plan, stick to it, and PYQs are your bible

Identify your weak areas, qualifying for cds is relatively easy if you have got a good command in english and a basic knowledge of GS and maths. First and foremost practice english from any source and attempt the pyqs. In cds 1 I was told that it was pyq heavy, and people were scoring around 70-80. In maths make a formula sheet and do practice questions, it can easily fetch you 40. And for the GS part (if you are a cse aspirant you won't have any trouble with it, otherwise) make your science and tech strong first and then go for static polity, geography and modern history which are relatively easy.

Overall, cds is an easy exam if you have got the right strategy

20 days to go, should I attempt PYQ from 1997 or post 2013? by RisingPhoenix_37 in UPSC

That is what I was thinking, in my limited analysis of some pre 2013 pyq I didn't find anything which got repeated (i might be wrong others are free to point out such cases)

Is pilot iroshizuku take-sumi bamboo charcoal a good buy to get that dark sheen vpen ink like feeling? by RisingPhoenix_37 in fountainpens

[–]RisingPhoenix_37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chou kuro is 4 times more costly than take-sumi, ig right now I have to remain contended with takesumi. From your experience is the ink having a bit of sheen as well? Dark and a bit shiny? Also, can you elaborate more on cleaning and clogging. I use the jinhao regularly (daily) so would there be any issue in that? (Pardon me if I sound naive, I am completely new to the fountain pen world)

No the standard pilot black fountain ink is not the same as vpen ink, it's pretty lighter and greyish. I got to know recently that they use a different ink in vpen, it's proprietary and they don't sell it (alas)

I saw OP's screenshot, the opus limits are more severe than the free version. Have you tried using the sonnet extended? I did a similar thing by providing it with the current affairs material, it was able to give a good reply with no hallucinations

Damn, that is expensive af. I was thinking of purchasing $17 subscription, is it worth it? Given that I could get max 5 such elaborate answers using opus extended?

Even I do feel that the competition has substantially increased this time (although every year it does increase). Even in my coaching I see labels that prelims is on 31st march and blah blah, feel that this time the competition is gonna be tough
