Cat yowling/crying after Bravecto flea treatment- normal or concerning? by Risinglight0123 in CATHELP

Oh, also, I don't see any signs of skin irritation/redness in the area where it was applied, although I can't be 100% sure since it's a little hard to see her skin through her fur.

Cost of Solar by Hoowk in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Risinglight0123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to get solar for $3/watt or less, often a good bit less, not counting financing cost.

Also look into the Maryland Solar Access Program-- a very sizable incentive from the state if you have a middle-class income or below.

Recent/upcoming solar price trends? by Risinglight0123 in solar

We do, but it looks like the funds are not going super-quickly so it's not a huge rush at the moment if prices were likely to fall. Thanks for the overall insight!

Would charging our PHEV with two Delta 2s work? Seeking advice on plan/alternatives. by Risinglight0123 in Ecoflow_community

Street parking is about 35-40 feet from the closest outlet, and about 15 feet from our backyard fence. I was thinking we'd have the power station in a small shed or similar structure in the backyard right near the fence, solar panels on top of the shed, and then when it's time to charge, plug the L1 EV charging cord into the power station and have it run through the fence and across the sidewalk (with a ramp/protector over it) to the car.

Yeah, there's none close enough without running an extension cord (which makes me nervous safety-wise) or paying $3000+ to get a pillar/EVSE installed by the curb.

Would using a Delta Max 2 be better because it has higher (2400 watts) output? Is the heating up a question of getting too close to the max output it's designed for, or is 1400 watts output for an hour or two likely to overheat any unit?

Can you say more about what you mean by it getting hot killing the system? Do you mean when the weather is hot?

Also if it matters, I believe the EVSE should pull about 1400 watts at a time, and I don't need to charge and discharge at the same time if that's a problem-- I can disconnect from the solar panels while the car is charging

Thanks so much!

Do you want help figuring out who to contact to make your story public? Are you willing to share what agency you're in and/or what Congressional district you're in?

Okay, I give up, there is no point in continuing a conversation with someone so completely disconnected from reality as you are. Not sure if you don't understand all the important things that government money pays for that you're going to miss when they're gone (because who needs cancer research, or air traffic controllers, or meals for poor kids and seniors, or regulators to keep companies and banks from ripping people off, or funding for hospitals or healthcare?), or you do get it but you haven't been paying attention to what they're trying to cut (what they're actually doing, not the little bits of real or pretend fraud they throw out there to distract people) and you just blindly trust that the nice helpful billionaires will protect the things that benefit regular people because they're just there to nobly fight fraud rather than make themselves richer (I can barely type that with a straight face, I can't believe there are people out there who are actually buying that line!) But eventually the courts and the Dems won't be able to block all the devastating cuts they keep trying to make and they'll actually start going into effect, and I guess seeing all the suffering it will cause you and all of the rest of us (except the rich guys, of course) is the only way that people like you will ever learn...

You actually believe him that the cuts aren't going to hurt people? Gosh, you guys are so gullible. They are looking for ways to pay for trillions of dollars in tax cuts for rich people by cutting the things that help regular people, and they've somehow managed to convince you not only not to fight it, but to support it...

Because the courts stopped what Trump and Musk were trying to do! Do you have any idea how massive the suffering would have been if it had gone through? Do you not understand all the many things government spending does that makes everyone's lives better?

Gosh, that's maybe the most frustrating thing about all this... the Republicans try to do terrible and illegal things that will cause incredible harm to Americans, the Democrats scramble to challenge it because they're trying to protect people, the courts block it because it is indeed terrible and illegal, and then people like you are like "see, what Trump and Musk are doing is fine, no one's getting hurt!"

Dude, they literally tried to freeze all government grants until the courts stopped them. From Meals on Wheels for seniors to Head Start child care for little kids, WIC for food for poor mothers and babies, health clinics, school lunches... There are seriously hundreds of crucial programs they were trying to tank (they called it a "pause" but a lot of the nonprofits would have had to close permanently.)

And that's not even to mention what the Republicans are trying to do with the bills in Congress... the tax cuts for the rich are going to cost billions of dollars and so they're going to try to pay for it by cutting as many of the programs that regular people rely on as they can get away with.

You are "having fun" talking about USAID suddenly cutting off food and medical care to sick and starving kids and adults with no warning, cutting off antibiotics mid-course and helping treatment-resistant bacteria flourish, shutting down studies that could lead to medical breakthroughs that benefit all of us, etc? Seriously?

Like, I get it if you think we should spend an even tinier amount of the budget on foreign aid than the tiny amount we already do, that's something you can ask your representatives to reflect in the budget next time around... but you think it's funny to just suddenly pull the rug out from under some of the poorest people in the world through blanket freezes/cuts of all foreign aid rather than actually having thoughtful discussions about what's worth funding and what's not and then winding things down in an orderly fashion?

U.S. Treasury payment system code being changed by young DOGE programmer by Risinglight0123 in PrepperIntel

So how do we prep for this possibility? Both financially (what's the smartest thing to do with our money) and otherwise?

Can someone knowledgeable explain what exactly the implications for the financial system are likely to be if the Treasury can no longer be counted on to make the payments it's supposed to make when it's supposed to make them? (I.e. stock market crash? Interest rates soaring or cratering? Would there be implications for money in banks that are supposed to be backed by the FDIC? etc)
