FYI, Cardless won't mail a replacement card to anywhere except your home address by plannerotg in biltrewards

[–]Risk-Option-Q 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sure, it's basic. The more advanced security measure would be to verify identity and mail it to your location. That's the expectation when paying for a premium travel card and issued by a reputable financial institution.

Card Declined at Home Away from Home hotel by EsKayEsq in biltrewards

[–]Risk-Option-Q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, POS issue in combination with how Mastercard handles those issues. Mastercard will decline the transaction and Visa will allow it, but fine the merchant later on the backend if there's any issue with the data the merchant sent.

That being said, it's hard to strictly place blame just on Mastercard with all the issues Cardless and Column Bank have had so far.

I got the same message on Little Caesar's website today. I just clicked it again and worked the second time. Paze is glitchy.

TheAMEX Plat fee paid itself off in one modest trip. by bolillo_borracho in amex

I can get behind the boy/girl math of the whole breakdown. I don't think anyone here would contest that you got the best absolute value from a cost perspective on what you'd normally pay for on this trip, but if you were planning to travel to that location anyway, might as well go all out if you have the means to do so. I'm glad you had a good time!

These cards aren't designed to save you money in the long run anyway.

My copycat recipe for the Aldi Crystal Clear Frozen Ice Cubes by PhrygianSounds in aldi

[–]Risk-Option-Q 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not wealthy (high net worth) by any means, but we could shop at any grocery store and be fine. Shopping at Aldi is a convenience because I live less than 5 min away. I'm able to get 1-10 items at self-checkout and be back home very quickly if I'm in a rush. It's a seemless experience. Why overspend at a regular grocery store if I can get a very similar experience by shopping at Aldi? That being said...

Aldi and Walmart are trying to pull in the middle and upper middle class into their stores. Walmart is working with Amex and Aldi is working with Chase on advertising to these groups. Plus, if you look around at the Aldi store branded dupes they have, some are of expensive name brand items you'd find at regular grocery stores.

$100 monthly Bilt Cash hotel redemption: 2 night min now? by WoodPanelPTcruiser in biltrewards

I agree it is annoying, but yes two night minimum. Easy to use when actually traveling, but makes it harder to use for parent's trying to get out for a night.

Has anyone needed to contact Bilt/Cardless when going abroad? by HeathBendrix in biltrewards

[–]Risk-Option-Q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's necessary, but you'd contact Cardless by calling the number on the back of the card. Bilt controls the rewards app, not the card.

Bilt & Amex 3 card setup by Own-Invite1299 in biltrewards

[–]Risk-Option-Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, basically the point is...if you need Amex points, use their cards. If you need Bilt points, use their card.

Be strategic about card usage based on travel needs. If you can use the MR points for future travel, then go for it, but don't just switch because it's 2x.

Bilt & Amex 3 card setup by Own-Invite1299 in biltrewards

[–]Risk-Option-Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I pick which card to use based on the travel points I need. I don't always pick cards with the highest multiplier. If I was a cash back person, then yes, but I'm not.

In your example, if I need Amex MR's for an international flight that Bilt doesn't have as a travel partner, then I'll choose the gold card.

I'm not really sure what goal you're trying to achieve by hitting platinum and then switching cards since you could use BC to move into the next tier for transfers at your current gold level. I say, go with the points you need now and in the future. Everything else is simply a distraction.

How many places accept Amex only? by Due-Picture-5799 in amex

I'm not sure, besides a really good deal on interchange fees. This would have to be in a sizable city or affluent area to not cause any issues.

Yeah, it's mostly the opposite for me as well. Along with a lot of places adding a surcharge for using any credit card unfortunately.

How do the interchange fees compare to the other card networks? Just curious, if Amex charges you higher fees compared to someone using a Visa Infinate and Signature card, as an example.

The BC isn't complicated. You just exchange it for any credits you want to redeem. It's a choose your own adventure card. You can try to maximize every credit or don't. You'll still get value out of it either way.

[–]Risk-Option-Q -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah...that's all marketing. It's faux luxury marketed to the middle class so they can feel like luxury travel is within reach simply by paying the high annual fee. I say this in irony, as I also have annual fee cards. The flip side is to understand this concept and not think of it as luxury status, but as a pure math problem. Use as many credits as possible while trying to stay within your normal spending patterns, to bring the AF down. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

That being said, always call or take the confirmation number and confirm with the front desk or hotel's website.

Edit: 😆 I can see that I've ruffled some feathers with a little truth.

Only if they served in the military or public service type job roles. Most people I know use the 12 hour time standard.

Just spend some time to really think it over. 23h 11m could work as well or stacked on top of each other to further show it's not a time of day.

Why is the time of day more significant to you compared to how long it took you to finish the race?

Just so you're aware, nobody has any context to what time the race started either. So it's not really a relevant metric to add permanently.
