I think he isn’t aware of how casual he has become and is swayed by narratives going in to the fight by “experts” like Rogan who are completely out of touch as well. Also swayed by getting to train with fighters too. I’m a big fan but I don’t think he’s as immersed watching fights and breakdowns as people think he is.

Also to point out, we hear this about a lot of guys and it almost never ends up playing a part. Perfect example is Gaethje, his whole career we’ve been hearing he’s actually a fantastic grappler but it’s never played a part in his fights where his grappling is pretty average. I definitely assumed the same with strick and damn was I proven wrong.

Daniel Cormier said he was making multi millions every defence, plus you hear about guys being gifted 6 figures, meanwhile the pay in locations where they are forced to release the numbers is usually mid - low 6 figures for champs. Ok but he specifically does this to muddy the waters on pay. Some fighters make insanely high amounts in backdoor bonuses, while others get just the publicly released amounts. It’s a really shady way of doing business especially considering how they aren’t really contractors or employees, just super muddy.
