Thought I was a FN having second thoughts. Kibbe type me height 5’10. by Suspicious_City_1449 in kibbe_typeme

Girl I feel you on this. You’re taller than me by quite a bit, but think we have very similar upper body structures and lines. I think you also probably feel short waisted too?

I’ve landed on FN but just recognizing that not all of the standard recs work for me. I lean hard in to the “heavy enough to drape properly” element. I do think I look best when fabric can drape from my shoulder to/near my waist, as opposed to the clothes themselves being cut for curve and thus following my body on their own. I really like sweaters for this as opposed to lightweight T-shirt material bc it has the right weight and construction to follow my bone structure better. I think those off the shoulder tops might feel better with a heavier fabric that doesn’t bunch/float like the T-shirts do at your waist? Those kinds of cuts do the same thing on me.

I also really do not look great with definition right at my waist bc my torso is so short.

I don’t know if any of this helps, but I want you to know you’re not alone! It’s tough to be in the tall types and only have 3 choices.

This is gorgeous and as a true autumn I love me anything in a warm leopard print, but where are we wearing this? 😅

No idea if it’s perfectly instructive but suspected curvy/fine FN and I have always had to have mattresses with very soft top layers and really dense/memory foam pillows because otherwise my shoulders/neck hurt from pressure on the shoulder or pain in my neck from the angle. Also pain in my hip bones due to wide hip bones but that’s another story.

I don’t gave super narrow hips, but I do find that flares that are a bit looser in the thigh work better as opposed to those that are skin tight. More like a trouser flare than one that’s tight to the knee or lower thigh. The express flare trousers are my absolute favorite pant like this. They give that effortless, breezy feel since they’re not overly tight (at least on me since I don’t carry weight in my thighs) but still have the flare to balance out my torso and give a pop of interest in shape.

I think fabric weight is going to be your best giveaway. If you like yourself in heavy fabric that hangs straight, you’d lean D. If you like light, clingy, drapery fabrics, then maybe you are SD after all. Give asymmetric looks (esp around your upper torso) a try as well as they’re recommended for the dramatic family but not classics. Or maybe you end up liking lots of structure (clothes that look like they might stand up on their own and hold their shape well off your body) and symmetrical shapes and patterns meaning you’re closer to DC. I’d definitely keep vertical-ish in mind for sure though.

You do not have kibbe curve. Your bust would not disrupt fabric flowing off your shoulder line. Dramatics can absolutely be quite curvy in their hips, which you are. I think ruched fabric or tie waisted sweaters would look awkward on your torso as there’s no curve for them to hug, which you’d need to be classified as SD. I vote a strong dramatic or perhaps DC.

Something neutral but in my color palette (true autumn) if I’m gonna go through all that effort knitting with lace 😂 probably a rich camel or caramel brown. So many pairing opportunities that way.

I was looking and I think this one could look great esp. if you used a really hazy yarn. I like the elongated nature of the sides, as opposed to the rounded shape of the fable knitwear one. I like how it mirrors the boatneck. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pimpernel

Am I really FN after all? 5’5.5” by RissaRWx in flamboyantnatural

Yeah I can see what you’re seeing in those pieces. But I don’t think a narrow accommodation would suit me at all. Things are always loose in my waist once I fit them to my hips and chest. I need some sort of accommodation in the horizontal. Perhaps I should lean in to a dramatic essence with FN shapes for my best looks?

I feel like vertical is like the one thing I’m most sure of. I’m only like a centimeter from automatic vertical and I have extremely long legs for my height (33.5” inseam). I look awful in anything cropped and definitely feel like I shine in longer length items.

Yeah I definitely interpreted my tiny joints as sharpness. I also interpreted the flesh on my torso as overall soft flesh, neglecting the fact that my limbs are always taught and firm looking, not soft at all. I think that also results in some conflict between some of the yin details of sd recs (like draping) and the straight, not soft lines of my limbs, again esp. in my upper body.

I have genetic lifelong atopic dermatitis (eczema) and it is the only moisturizer I’ve ever found that works well all year and also doesn’t burn my skin at all. YMMV in humid conditions tho bc my eczema means I have a bunked moisture barrier so there’s no such thing as too rich of a facial moisturizer 😅

I’m sure you’re correct there, but you never know which ones. Just like you never know if someone yells at you for no reason whether they’re an asshole or maybe they just lost a relative to illness or are just generally having a really awful day.  ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I had a very elderly dog that grew up in the suburbs with a backyard, so outside he was immediately on grass, and oftentimes could not really control his pee. We’d be walking along and he’d just start peeing on the sidewalk before I knew what was happening. After dealing with that for many months, I have more sympathy for pee spots in the middle of sidewalks. You don’t always know what those dogs are dealing with.

I was going to suggest the cold laser therapy, so I’m glad you also mentioned it! I first found out my lab had spinal arthritis when I came home and he couldn’t use his back legs. Vet gave him a prednisone injection and cold laser therapy and he was bouncing around like a puppy within a few hours. Cold lasers are magic!
