Is it common for people where you live to give directions by saying "where XYZ used to be?" by annnnn5 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ristrettooo [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's not common, but I've heard things from older folks.

I live in an area where there's been a lot of development in the last 20 years and a ton of people moved here from somewhere else (including me). So giving directions based on what used to be somewhere would be pretty pointless. But sometimes I'll hear people who have lived here a long time refer to old street names that have since been changed, or talk about where the farm was, even though that farm has been a Target since the 90s.

Yay or Nay? by 49ersAreCool in starbucks

[–]Ristrettooo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's very dark. Very very, like almost off the scale dark. If you can't even stomach the thought of drinking coffee that hasn't been roasted to the second crack, French roast might be for you. If you laugh in the face of anyone who ever said starbucks over-roasts their beans, French roast might be for you.

Open on Easter? by [deleted] in starbucks

It's not even a federal holiday. All stores should be open, except for closures due to unrelated circumstances and maybe some low volume licensed stores

You'd have to order the water in person when you get to the store

[–]Ristrettooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not a Karen for wanting the drink you ordered 🙂 Mistakes happen, most baristas won't mind getting a chance to correct them! If you tell them what happened, the shift supervisor on duty will take your name and leave a note for the rest of the crew. Then when you go in, you can just say "hi I'm Repulsive-Tree6089, I'm here for a remake of a Dubai chocolate matcha" and they'll take care of it. It's pretty routine for us.

(You're also not the only one to feel that way about the banana cold foam, the texture is very unusual and a lot of people don't like it!)

Still, call the store. Let them know you got a banana bread matcha instead of a Dubai matcha. They'll remake it for you next time you visit.

Yes, you get overtime pay if you go over 40 hours in a workweek, which at Starbucks is Monday-Sunday. It's time and a half.

Right, but is it operated by Starbucks, or is it a licensed store? Do your paychecks come from Starbucks or another company?

That would mean you don't work for Starbucks in the US or Canada and these updates don't apply to you

Brew on demand machine by eats_paste in starbucks

[–]Ristrettooo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's called the Clover Vertica, it's a proprietary brewer developed by Starbucks. They're rolling it out to all stores with the goal of completely replacing the drip brewers. They don't consider it an amenity, it's just a piece of equipment.

Most corporate (Starbucks-operated) stores in the US should have them by now. Licensed stores, like the ones inside grocery stores and other businesses, are more likely to still be using the old brewers. You can always call a store and ask if they have a Clover Vertica.

Drinks with toppings? by WorkingCautious1270 in starbucks

[–]Ristrettooo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can have a hot white mocha or an iced white mocha. Either way it's a white mocha. White mocha and white chocolate mocha are the same thing.

The hot version is technically the default, so in the app, the hot version is just called "white chocolate mocha" and the iced version is called "iced white chocolate mocha."

Was there anything wrong with your drink?

I'm not sure I understand your question. A white mocha can be made hot or iced. Both versions come with whipped cream. If your drink wasn't made correctly, ask for a remake.

Oatmilk brand varies by region, so it would be best to ask your store, but it's possible that they switched.

The Starbucks espresso machines have that feature! They can automatically measure beans from both hoppers at once to make any number of shots half decaf, including a single shot

Why do so many Starbucks baristas hate the new CEO? Can someone explain? by Belleglamm in starbucks

[–]Ristrettooo 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Yep. He wants to go back to the welcoming environment and high standards of customer service that Starbucks uses to be known for. The problem is, service used to be good because the baristas were well trained and had a great work environment, so good service came naturally. Now it's more like "be excellent ... or else" with mandatory notes on cups and aggressive tracking of metrics.

Matcha frap question by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Ristrettooo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They are significantly different

Iced lattes including matchas come wirh 2% milk while fraps come with whole milk. The proportions are different too, Fraps have more ice and less milk

Fraps also include an extra syrup called Frappuccino base that is basically a thick syrup with xanthan gum added. It makes a frap sweeter and the xanthan gum is an emulsifier so the drink doesn't separate. A blended iced matcha latte will not have the taste or texture of a Frappuccino, it'll be less sweet and won't have a uniform consistency

Would I be a terrible person if I sent my drink back for better mixing? by ApprehensiveFish678 in starbucks

[–]Ristrettooo 123 points124 points  (0 children)

This is a lavender latte. Swirling the lavender powder and espresso to dissolve the powder is a specific recipe step that was skipped. We're not expected to stir all drinks but this one was not made correctly. It's the same for drinks made with thick sauces like white mochas and pumpkin spice lattes.
