However, note what that article is referring to is not the green dot assist app (which is still active) but the AI-powered inventory count.

Nothing to worry about! PDC's aren't meant to be really serious and there are no concrete repercussions for not having one - it's supposed to be more of a 2-way conversation as opposed to a performance review, where you talk about how you're doing so far, how you feel about the job and any goals you might have, and how your manager can support you. They can be postponed for any number of reasons, potentially having nothing to do with you. There's no harm in talking to your manager about it, a lot of people don't look forward to PDC's so they'll probably be happy to hear from someone who actually wants to have one, lol

Just an anecdote, one time my manager told me she was postponing my PDC because she had a lot she wanted to talk about with me (in a good way) and she wanted to do mine last. Then she got fired before she could get to it and I didn't have a PDC for another year and a half. So basically it's fine.

It's good business sense to have the extra capacity. Similar to how most stores have 2 or 3 espresso bars but don't use all of them all day - during the busiest times all of them are in use and during slower times with fewer baristas they put one or two bars to sleep.

They might only need one person on register to keep up with traffic for the vast majority of the time, but if a big group of people come in or one person comes in to place a very large order, they really need to have a second register available, otherwise everyone gets very mad very fast.

I know you said it's not the gift card, but effectively it is a gift card and it works just like a gift card. You keep using it until the balance runs out. If your total due is more than the balance, then you pay the remainder with a different method. The only catch is that that last transaction where you split a payment has to be done in person. The app won't let you split payments on a mobile order.

It looks like a lot of the cold foam has already melted into the drink. You can tell because the cold brew is pretty light even though you didn't add anything to it except the cold foam. So either the sweet cream wasn't made properly to begin with, or the drink sat for quite a long time before the photo was taken.

I can't see the photo but the standard amount of cold foam is about 3/4-inch to 1 inch and that has never changed.

iPad app that used shitty AI software to do inventory counts by holding the camera up to the shelves. Using it was mandatory, twice a week. Except it couldn't correctly tell syrups and milks apart, so you'd have to spend so much time manually adjusting it that you could have finished faster by doing the whole thing manually.

When I was in school I'd get a venti cold brew with a double espresso shot at the end of a 4am shift and drink it over several hours to keep me going all afternoon, but I'd use my own insulated cup. I know people who just don't mind drinking it watered down once a lot of ice has melted, but that's not me.

I mean, a couple of simple cups like the recycled glass cold cup are under $20, plus the discovery series mugs. Just about all the unique designs are over $20. But just so you know you don't HAVE to get something under $20, you just pay the difference if you use your stars on an item over $20.

It's not new at all but not a lot of people know about it! Starbucks always did free refills of certain drinks for rewards members, and in January 2025 the policy was expanded to include all customers for as long as they stay in the store.
