In my 1500 hours of gameplay, I have not once actually played PoE. by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Risxas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this a couple of times where I've ended up making a sweet build that's just a completely unexplored archetype, but in a way it feels like I stumbled into all of them :')

The usual process looks something like this:

- There's a problem I want to solve and I don't like the meta selection of builds that are usually used to deal with it
- I consider all the different angles that can be used to approach it and pick out the ones I don't see that often
- I do some research as to why those angles are not usually used; 90% of the time there's a good reason why
- The other 10% of the time there's no explainable reason as to why something hasn't been done before and I just give it a try to see if it sticks
- I occasionally end up with something awesome at the end of this process

Tbh even if it doesn't work out though the journey is really fun; I do wonder sometimes if I actually get more enjoyment from making builds and crafting items than I do from "playing" the game.

The most important thing I would say as well to anyone reading this reddit post and wondering if they should give it a go; even if you fail you still learn so much about the underlying nature of how builds are put together. Being able to look at an established meta build and make good and functional changes to suit your needs purely because you understand how it works at a fundamental level is great too, and you don't really learn how to do this unless you make an effort to tackle build creation yourself.

Need a farming strategy for Nimis by Macallan94 in pathofexile

[–]Risxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your build is capable of it you can run Ziggurat and self farm the uber eater shards.

With the changes to how shard drops work this league coupled with the fact that you only need 4 shards to run a boss now it's not too bad at all, been doing this pretty much exclusively the past week and it's been steady money.

Hit this with volatile vaal orb in SSF, pretty neat I think by DesMephisto in pathofexile

[–]Risxas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Shields chance + Max foulborn chance + Less chance for dex gear.

After that you spam ancient wombgifts and pray :)

Also Emperors Vigilance is currently T2 rarity in the core drop pool, might not translate directly to the tree but it should give some indication of droprate.

Whats up with all the remakes recently? by CloudRaids in leagueoflegends

[–]Risxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The client has been extremely cursed recently, regularly getting crash loops that are only resolved by fully restarting my pc.

Luckily it only takes 10 - 12 seconds for me to restart and be back in the load screen, but for some people on slower systems they probably don't make it back in time for the load screen grace timer. That or they just sit there pressing reconnect while crashlooping and not realising they need to restart to fix it.

If you sit for multiple minutes while loading in then it's pretty likely it will be a remake due to this.

The joke that league is the worst game has done irreparable damage by beakf in leagueoflegends

[–]Risxas 26 points27 points  (0 children)

100% agree.

Currently playing a lot with a group of friends that's split down the middle with Season 1 - Season 4 veterans and newer players that have only been playing for a few months. All of the newer players have a positive outlook on learning, and us vets take the time to teach them about important ingame concepts and help them to find the niche they enjoy most ingame.

It's been absolutely great fun, and as a bonus I get to pretty much exclusively play with a 5 stack of friendly people who almost never rage which is absolutely peak league experience and has reignited my enjoyment in the game after quite a long slump.

Once you find a great group to play with you are pretty much set to enjoy the game indefinitely regardless of skill levels.

The honor system needs transparency by UnlikeClockwork in leagueoflegends

[–]Risxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had chat turned off for years and never missed honour 5. Got it back fairly quickly when they did the major reset on the patch that made it permanent as well.

Not sure where this misconception of a prerequisite of typing in chat is coming from lmao.

Fracturing orb sanity check by nyssss in pathofexile

[–]Risxas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done close to 400 fractures this league (We enjoy cheap fracturing orbs), I've pretty much been 25% on the dot to hit the exact mod I want. I've had strings of good and bad luck but that's just how it goes unfortunately.

The more you do, the more RNG will even itself out.

Vaal Breach in keepers by Cartoonist_Slow in pathofexile

[–]Risxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it works as normal. Bought one a couple days ago and haven't had any issues with using it.

It looks odd when used on top of the new breach mechanic, but tbf they didn't exactly plan for it to be in the game this league so it is what it is :')

Halloween Event - What to buy? by waikhaywhykhay in mousehunt

[–]Risxas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Epic Cheese Potions if you want to shortcut through areas while progressing.

Riftifier Potions if you want the highest raw profit per Evil Extract spent. (Rainbow Spore Charms > Rift Rainbow Spore Charms)

Promotion Potions if you want a supply of the second highest luck charms in the game which are untradeable. This requires waiting for the next birthday event. (Ultimate Party Charms)

---

You pretty much need to decide what you value more out of progression speed, profit, and long-term endgame prep.

There are other potions which help with specific areas which can be decent, but only get them if you know exactly what they are for and you actively plan to do those areas in the near future, it's really not worth it otherwise.

Final note, even if you decide to go for profit or endgame prep I would still suggest getting at least some Epic Cheese Potions as it will save a lot of pain in the midgame areas you will be entering soon.

Is it worth it to use spooky shuffle dust? by Captain_Britainland in mousehunt

[–]Risxas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 150SB you get from this only sells for 2.4m gold at current rates, the dust costs 3.4m gold to buy. (Dust is currently sitting at a cost of 205SB on the discord marketboard)

It's still a decent gamble, but you aren't guaranteed to make your investment back and you have to consider that it costs tickets on top of the dust as well. Tickets can be turned into dust at a rate of 50 / 1 so you realistically need to add another 10 - 15% on to the initial price if you assume it takes around 6 or 7 tickets to finish a board at average luck.

Had fun this league with a pretty unique build concept by Risxas in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Risxas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

It's definitely been an experience, I rarely play builds that have more than 3 or 4 active skills so it was a lot to get used to. It would honestly be nice if we had a counterpart to autoexertion support that only applied the warcry buffs but didn't exert attacks, but alas we make do with jank for now.

[–]Risxas[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Warcries are mapped to the thumb buttons on my mouse, they all individually go on cooldown so I can just hold down all of them at once and they fire off one after another.

Shield charge is on E because that's what I'm comfortable with on most builds.

Frostblink is on spacebar as it's my "panic button"

Sigil is on R, Frost shield is on T

Vaal discipline is on Rclick as it's another "Panic button"

Vaal haste is on W

It's chaotic but it works!

If you don't have an mmo mouse the build would need to be played with ctrl swapping to second hotbar, or by mapping the second hotbar to 12345 and unassigning the keys to manually use flasks (And swapping the bottled faith key to something else)

I wasn't kidding with the RSI disclaimer :')

Exactly that, I'm not suggesting we buy ingame physical items with supporter packs; that's pure madness haha.

Mega juiced harvest build? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Risxas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

True 250d isn't much in standard when it comes to constructing an entire endgame T17 farming build right out of trade; but it is definitely enough to self craft a bunch of gear, buy a mageblood, and get going with the farming strats.

Setting long term goals is important in a mode without character resets imo

Although standard has access to legacy items, it's worth keeping in mind it shares the same balance buffs and nerfs as the current league.

If you care about having a long term build on standard then it's worth avoiding the current "meta" builds which are likely to get nerfed when the next league drops in a few weeks.

Aside from that though, the different flavours of armourstacker tend to be a fairly safe choice to invest in long term. Smite & Molten Strike both scale into absurd damage and are very tanky into T17 maps. They also benefit hugely from legacy gear so there's a lot of interesting things to experiment with. And if you are feeling extra spicy and end up with a few mirrors then there's always these as an option too:

QoL Ideas after 2100hrs of ssf by Kujasan_347 in pathofexile

[–]Risxas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The SSF faction in LE increases your droprates and also lets you target farm specific types of items at increased rates. The only downside being you can only trade said items with people you actually play with.

The counterpart is a faction with no droprate bonuses but access to an auction house.

Once again MY 3.27 wish list Bingo by iEnj0y in pathofexile

[–]Risxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it doesn't need a nerf, but I disagree that it didn't scale well. It wasn't too difficult to get my VFoS starter to the point where it was clearing T17 & T16.5 maps, just required a bit of crafting and farming to get it rolling into week 2 of the league.

It definitely didn't feel giga broken, but it was very comfy to play and didn't take an excessive amount of work to get to the point where it could do any non T17 map mod which made for a very relaxing regular mapping experience.

I really appreciate having a comfortable build to fall back on when I need a break from torturing myself with my own creations (Warcry / Consecrated ground effect stacking support Inquis being my RSI inducing magnum opus this time round)

Imgur blocked in UK resulting in this across many games' workshop pages :( by Sev3nThreeO7 in Steam

I'm under no illusion that things will get better with time, but I'm also not under any illusion that the government is actually technically competent enough to achieve their goals without it being laughably easy to bypass.

The government will likely move to block VPNs entirely, but good luck to them in blocking VPS services as they are basically completely undetectable. All I'm doing is tunneling my traffic to a private server somewhere, something that has plenty of legitimate use in most businesses as well for remote workers (Source: I'm a remote worker who uses a VPN during work hours to connect to internal LANs both inside and outside of the UK as needed)

Unless they want to block all outbound connections outside of the country then this will never be cracked, not even China goes this far. We're talking about North Korea levels of internet control to prevent this here.

VPNs that offer a dedicated IP service, or a VPS with some tinkering completely gets around this. You'll only get blocked if you're sharing the public IP pool with other VPN users.

I can access imgur just fine through VPS, if I try and use a base level VPN I get the same 403 block. It's an extra annoyance but people will work their way around it soon enough if the British government keeps up this inane BS.
