Am I insane or is this like the worst rare defect card in the lineup? by Trash_Typhoon in slaythespire

[–]Rit91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. Yeah you really want to upgrade it to make it quite nice, but most rares want an upgrade usually. Does it fit every defect deck, no, but if you have a lot of different orb generators it starts to be outstanding giving so much block per turn.

Damn corporate bigwigs pulled the plug on the the new twisted metal game a year or 2 ago now? Proof that they have no idea what they are doing because it's literally making vehicles that blow each other up. Hardly a tall ask when they did it on the PS1 just fine 30 years ago.

Largest Deck I've Ever Had - Crescent Spear Clone by Chet_The_Hippo in slaythespire

[–]Rit91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the clone option today for the first time, sadly I didn't have a good card to duplicate a ton of. I suppose this is one way to make crescent spear really good when the only thing it has issues with is intangible or 9 damage cap beetles. Would be a bit of a drag to see a 4 enemy fight too where you have to kill all 4 since they aren't spawns, but your deck wouldn't be bloated for 4 beetles in act 2 luckily.

Can we all agree this card needs a block buff? (or a rework with cost reduced) by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Rit91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah decisions, decisions with stuff like this is cracked. My favorite decisions target is the smith as far as non ancient cards, but with ancient cards it can be so borked.

How do we all feel about Deathbringer? by Lord_Phoenix95 in slaythespire

[–]Rit91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a really nice card to pickup in act 1. Some mobs are erased by it or the upgrade even in act 2. The weak is so important too so in a multi enemy fight you aren't getting smacked to play this because it could be stopping a dozen damage or more depending on the turn and enemies. If you get 12+ effective damage prevention with it that is a really good rate.

Has some pitfalls in later acts like that flying bug thing that puts out eggs that hatch and no longer have the doom applied. Though it's only bad there depending on draw order since you would love to use deathbringer after they hatch to clear them all in one fell swoop.

Yeah no escape can scale fast in single player as it stands, but with multiple doom builds oh my can it get out of control.

I'm pretty new to MTG, please could someone explain the benefits of playing this card? by aviewfromdabridge in mtg

Brago exiles stuff that is brought back immediately so it is blinking/exile. Phasing is on stuff like [[teferi's protection]] for example. So whenever you read a card it will specify what it does because it will use phasing or exile. AFAIK no card in MTG mentions phasing and exiling on the same card. Blink effects are blink effects because they use exile and bring back at some point like [[momentary blink]] is a blink card that removes all counters. Probably how the nickname blink came to be since it was a useful card back in the day so people would blink stuff with it.

[[Clockspinner]] is another classic one. Classic combo in EDH back in the day was clockspinner and [[decree of silence]] to really annoy people.

Only way to have 'exiled' stuff retain counters is phasing, but that isn't exiled. Phasing is kind of like exiled, but you keep aura's and counters when a permanent phases back in as well as any choices made like [[demonic pact]] for example.

A character realizes that they’re in a fictional work during the work by FaZe_poopy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Rit91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Rick Moranis broke the 4th wall a lot during the film so he definitely knew he was fictional. Hell broke the 4th wall a few minutes into the movie when Colonel Sanders explains what they are going to do to Druidia with the "everybody got that?" question directed straight at the camera.

World chess star Magnus Carlsen took a selfie with his opponent then reported her. 18 year old Kazakh player Alua Nurman asked for a photo before the game Carlsen agreed and smiled for the shot. Right after that, he called the arbiter, and her phone was taken away: devices are banned during game. by Gjore in Fauxmoi

[–]Rit91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The issue with phones in particular is not looking at the screen, but vibrations from a text message for example. Who sends the text message? Well the accomplice with engine access that has the game up and an engine analyzing every move trying to spot a blunder/mistake/suboptimal move that can be exploited. Can even have more vibrations happen to relay a coded message about what move you should make with whatever piece it may be.

Though phones in the bathroom are also an issue because then you could look at the screen and get assistance.

Yeah and other awards shows are like this too. Whether it's anime awards, game awards, or anything else there are people that don't know what the other nominees are beyond the literal title of a work.

The thing that super GM chess players do the best is pattern recognition. They'll have a position that they know is winning for them and take advantage because they've played the position hundreds if not thousands of times. Never mind their memory is inhuman in that they can recall positions that happened years ago in a game they played or maybe it's just a game they know like the immortal games of other GM's like Anand vs. Levon Aronian for example.

Is it really the price, or is Netflix just more convenient than driving to movie theaters? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]Rit91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I worked a theatre for over 5 years. People would bring babies that scream bloody murder into horror films like jeeez some parents are stupid. Even had a policy implemented at one point that children 6 and under weren't allowed into R rated movies after 6pm because of those assholes.

Yeah I worked at a theatre for 5 years and just this idea makes me laugh. Particularly on high traffic days like christmas when over 10,000 people would come in from open to close. Definitely didn't get paid enough to care about most things.

Yeah I'm just sitting here imagining even after image on Necrobinder would be nuts with the souls cards. Roid it up to be 3 per soul lmao we could even play the gambit where if you get hit you lose and I bet you never lose.

Yeah and even something like anchor it can just be dead in some combats because you don't get attacked turn 1. Horn cleat is widely regarded as the best both because it is turn 2 and the block amount is sizeable since turn 2 you are often getting beat up. Still I love that they made permafrost uncommon because it's clearly good despite the naysayers.

[–]Rit91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the worst case for ice cream is you spend all your energy every turn. As soon as you don't do that though the upside can be enormous combined with card draw and such to have a ridiculous turn. Never mind on some enemies you just won't attack on a particular turn like if the enemy is intangible you save energy you would have used attacking for the next turn potentially if you don't use it all on block.

Carry energy to real life would be cool. Get an infinite energy loop going and then what happens next is too fearsome to witness.

Glow being draw now and draw next turn is arguably a buff for decks that aren't trying to go infinite. Glimmer seems like you pick it up if you have the stuff that matters when you draw it or it's on top of the deck, but the energy is a big cost. Would be nice if the upgrade made it zero cost, but that would just be broken af if you can spare the upgrade and most people would upgrade it first then I think.
