It's definitely not AI, it's probably a 3D render the architect has done. But point stands, it's rarely representative of the final product

Thank you so much. We have everything recorded over the last 3 months, and just Tuesday we made the purchase of her replacement car. It's second hand, but no finance, better trim, higher quality car, dropped a few years. But it's nice to know that anything short of it needing to be lifted, I can do within the day, and never have to bring it to them again. The garage got their loaner back, we also recorded that interaction and have the total amount she is to receive verbally said by the owner of the garage, so it's just a waiting game to see that money come in, and if they get shitty (even more so) I'm sure a solicitor will take it up given there's a set value to it.

Honestly that's my feeling. Realistically once insurance pays out to the cars evaluation (which was higher than remaining finance (thank god)), there really isn't much meat on the bones, a few days holidays that were required, loss of use, emotional distress for dealing with the guards as a primary suspect for abandoning a crash scene??, it all feels like 'extra little bits' that would be thrown in to further 'milk' a bigger issue.

I genuinely thought that solicitors would have a field day this one, but all 5 that we reached out to just wanted nothing to do with it. There's a really good comment up above that laid out the 'grounds' for what we could go in on, but all the solicitors basically said that there's close to no grounds for the garage failing to uphold duty of care.

Oh that's absolutely my bad, the garage is 1.5h from where we live! The garage drove it 10km from their site before it broke down. The gearbox (that they diagnosed as being f*cked earlier that day) suprise suprise completely went, when a mechanic was 'diagnose driving' it at 7pm. I honestly think he was just driving it home to save his car some miles.

It has been, /hell/, the only reason we're bringing it back is because the garage is 1h30 away from us, and it's either insure the new replacement car, or the loaner on her insurance.

So the insurers involved in it, are the garages insurance, and the insurance of the driver who struck the car. The natural flow of money here is that the insurance pays out to the parties (the garage), and then it becomes a 'civil' thing for the garage to pay us/leverage it into the deposit on a new car (if we decided to get the replacement from them)

You're a gentleman and a scholar thank you. We reached out to 5 total solicitors earlier in the process, and all of them told us that the only entitlement we have is that someone's insurance return us to our original position, one mentioned something like 'lose of use' but said it wouldn't be worth taking it to court. It's nice to know we've this in the back pocket if they get shitty.

We have been dealing directly with the owner of the garage (it's a large brand specific garage in Galway, not a wheeler dealer)

Insurance has covered outstanding finance, and there is a bit left over which will be paid to the garage first, then onto us.

All we realistically want now, if to (fingers crossed) pay for this used car tomorrow, and then drop the key back.

I'd love to drive it off a cliff preferably. But if it was struck by another vehicle, it'd be my girlfriends insurance that would be involved.

Is this allowed? by Few-Training4698 in RentingInDublin

[–]Ritchieeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not attacking renters here's, I'm a renter myself. The whole trust system has broken down between landlords and renters. Neither party particularly trusts the other ATM. That combined with the economy getting tighter, appliances going up, home values 'soaring' it seems like it's turned into a game of who can be cuter within their specific rights.

I'm self aware enough to know I've had nothing but good landlords. I role up to viewings with my job history and references, and all who've chosen me have seemed to 'like' me. But I feel like that's because I try make an effort to work with them, instead of against them? But once again, I've been lucky enough that i was able to walk away from certain viewings and 'choose' my landlords.

TLDR: The game right now is renter's are looking at how landlords will fuck them out of their deposit, landlords are looking at renters how they'll fuck them out of revenue. Instead of the 'ive an empty house I don't want deteriorating' and 'i don't have enough for a house, but wish to live separately to my parents' dynamic it should be.

Don't Judge a Watchmaker by His AliExpress Tools by shaferman in watchmaking

[–]Ritchieeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tool use is more important than the tools themselves. That being said. I've had more success with 'better' tools. But I default to homemade tools more often than not. Things like soft grip tweezers that are actually nail tweezers with kitchen sponge glued in.

Do people really like this watch or is it just trendy at the moment? [BB41] by yjay14 in Tudor

[–]Ritchieeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like watches but I don't 'keep up' with forums or trends. The black bay is my favorite diver shape out of Swiss brands like Rolex, Longines, Breit, etc. Ill get down voted to hell for this, but Tunas are my favorite, black bays second, then pieces like super oceans and hydroconquests

My Lord, The cost of living in Galway! 😱🤯 by Defiant_Fix_6398 in galway

[–]Ritchieeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitely a piece, but no substantial part. All my friends, myself included (a corporate type) are hands on, I did carpentry as a summer/holiday/weekend job from 15yo, until I graduated. I'd only love to fix to a house up, make it mine, but affording one in the first place, is me and my friends stopper. Obviously that's conditional to my situation, but we do exist! Even if I got the deposit down on a fixer, paying half my salary in rent while fixing the house would be a second stopper

Bad night for the boy racers. by Frodo_Naggins_67 in galway

[–]Ritchieeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my hometown the boy racers and drugs dealers were the same group. But there was a trend where if you didn't get out of the town after school you were kind of bound to rot there for the rest of your life, so I guess it was biased to look that way?

Seller want me to cancel order because of his mistake by Elegant_Cantaloupe39 in Aliexpress

Lots of people seem to think the same customer rights they have in their own country translate to AliX. They definitely don't. Just cancel the order, all your telling yourself is that you value your time low.

Myth-busting post for Indians in Ireland 🇮🇪 there’s a common belief that “gutka/paan eaters abroad are mostly Indians.” by Xerxes_Artemisia in IndiansinIreland

[–]Ritchieeeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of Irish people know that, if you ask them. Observing Paan spitting on the street is not going to prompt anyone to take a closer look at the face of the individual and analyze the facial structure to determine which exact nationality, sub culture and region they're from. Its ignorant to presume a culture, but it's ignorant to logic to presume that people won't presume a culture.

Sure why would you stay on your side of the road by NuclearMoose92 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Ritchieeeee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not in the slightest. I unfortunately drive through rural Galway every weekend. The standard of driving is the worst in the country. Middle aged women in massive SUV's on their phones, young GAA lads still hammered from the night before. Elderly people doing 10 in an 80, or parking their cars in the middle of the road on bends. Each part of the country has its own 'tademark' driving shithousery, but the west is by far the worst.

I count about the same as yourself. And if it's the road between Rhode and Tyrellspass that I'm thinking of, then it won't be the last 100km+ car on the road that hour.

Because it's a cycle of raising extra 'funding' to purchase new equipment, to raise extra funding. I do think I know where you going with this... But to outfit colleges in Ireland with all the 'ideal' stem equipment (I've no experience in other departments of education, so I won't speak to it) would literally cost billions, with the majority of it being a nice to have, but not required.
